I have been going to Bartholomew Family Chiropractic for 3+ years. Since my early 40's I suffered from neck pain - no specific event caused it, it just got progressively worse over time. I had gone to chiropractors before, with limited relief, and it was always a "one-tiime' visit. I figured I'd have to live with the neck pain forever. I found Dr. Brian through a health fair at a local Curves. I wasn't necessarily skeptical, but wasn't sure things would be different. I liked Dr. Brian's personality so thought I'd give it a try. On my first visit he took an X-ray and did a computer scan of my spine which showed areas of inflammation/pain. He then explained how the brain controls everything our bodies can (and can't do) and that when nerves are pinced, things don't function correctly. The plan for me was to come 3X a week until I experienced relief, then he gradually decreases the visits per week. It took about 4-5 months, but I woke up one morning and realized that my neck didn't hurt - at that point I was about 95% pain free. My pain has continued to subside. One of the best parts of going to Dr. Brian is the wealth of information he shares with his patients, and the outreach he does with the community. He sincerely wants everyone to be healthy and spreads the word through his practice. My grandaughter had a problem with her foot (started to turn a little to the side) when she was 1 1/2. After many medical tests (that showed nothing specific) the doctors wanted to do an exploratory test to see what was wrong. I begged my daughter to bring her to Dr. Brian. He is EXCELLENT with children and started adjusting my grandaughter - within about a month, no more crooked foot. My daughter started getting adjusted and many of the life-long problems she had with digestion, etc. have virtually gone away. I love Bartholomew Family Chiropractic! I have been going to see Dr. Brian for almost 4 years now. I have scoliosis, allergies, and asthma, and I have seen a huge improvement in all three. I previously tried another chiropractor, massage, and physical therapy for back pain with minimal success. I also used to use immunotherapy (allergy injections), allergy medications on a daily basis, and inhalers--I no longer need any of these except for a rescue inhaler on a VERY RARE basis. If you are familiar with the theory behind chiropractic, this will come as no surprise. If you aren't--in a quick nutshell if your spine has areas that are out of alignment and pressing on nerves, these nerves will have decreased function and can cause a variety of ailments. If you relieve the pressure, the nerves can function better and you will see an improvement in various symptoms. Prior to going to Dr. Brian I wasn't aware that chiropractic can help anything other than back pain. He also has research based articles in his office in binders to show how evidence-based chiropractic is. After my adjustments I feel different right away--any pain is gone or decreased, and I feel like I can think clearer and move easier. I can go in with a migraine and come out with instant relief. Dr. Brian doesn't just adjust your spine--he also provides information about a variety of things related to overall wellness--such as nutrition, exercise, toxins, stress, etc. He is always very positive and friendly. The office is usually fairly busy, so Dr. Brian works quickly, but is always focused on you while he works with you. I have been a patient with Bartholomow Family Chiropracitc for almost two years. My entire family has benefited from care. When I became a patient I had constant neck and back pain,I had PCOS and was told I could not have anymore children, my family was sick 50% of the time. I have received extremely wonderful chiropractic care from Dr. Mike at Ithaca Family Chiropractic for the last three years. I first went into the office after being nearly immobilized by back pain for a week. My first adjustment made a world of difference and I've been going back regularly a couple mornings per week since then. The adjustments are immensely helpful and have vastly reduced the chronic back pain issues I've had since being a teenager. The secret ingredient in this office however is simply how nice everybody is. Going in the mornings especially, each visit always puts me in a great mood and makes me feel ready to tackle the day. I am NOT a morning person, but I look forward to my appointments because I know I will be greeted by smiling faces and genuine friendly conversation. That said, Dr. Brian definitely knows his craft, and the positive outcomes I've seen as a result are undeniable. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Brian with great hesitation but with the recommendation of a good friend. I've dealt with neck and lower back pain for the last 6 or 7 years. I've been to the ER several times because of it and have seen specialists and have undergone physical therapy. I was very hesitant about seeing a chiropractor because I had heard very mixed reviews about seeing one and I actually had a teacher tell me to never go. Dr. Brian offers a free x-Ray, consultation and first-time adjustment. There is no reason not to check it out. You will probably fall in love. He is there for you every step of the way and is very educational. There's no excuse not to pick his brain if you have a desire to lead the healthiest life you possibly can. I have been going to Ithaca Family Chiropractic for nearly 18 months now and could not be happier with the results i have seen. I suffered with asthma since my early teens, and since going to see Dr. Brian I have rarely had to use my rescue inhaler (only 2x in 18 months!!!), and completely stopped needing my nebulizer. You won't find a better Dr. and staff to have your spine checked by for problems that cause nerve interference. I've been going weekly for two years now (I'm a lifer). It's important to have my health and now I've gotten my future bride to become a practice member so we can grow healthy and old together. I heard about IFC through a presentation Dr Mike made at a local business luncheon and decided to take advantage of their free X-ray and consultation offer. It turned out to be one of my better decisions as I felt immediate results after the first visit and learned a lot by seeing my X-rays and understanding reasons for my back pains. I loved this Chiropractor because he really seemed to do his research on overall wellness. There are always new recipes to look at and there seems to be a strong connection with the community judging by the entire table dedicated to linking patients with others who can help them achieve their wellness goals. BEST DECISION! I was very skeptical at first, having tried everything possible for my migraines. I could not get relief from any medicine: neurologists and doctors could not figure out what was causing them, but I was spending 25+ days each month crippled by intense migraines.
