Just want to give a shout out to Chiropractic Associates of Ithaca. I've been going here for 10…read moreyears and, although it's changed hands in recent years, I am very happy with Michael and Abby. They are extremely friendly and remember your name after meeting you for the first time, which is the first sign of the attention they give to their clients. Although I do not live in the area, I have continued to come back at least annually. Michael and Abby always remember precisely what I need done as well as information about my life and whereabouts from the last time I was treated. No need to explain and re-explain, despite the gap in time between visits. They have also gone out of their way to accommodate me outside business hours, knowing that I am not always in the area, which is very much appreciated. Lastly, when working on patients, Michael takes the time to explain precisely what is going on and the reasons for it, helping us to better understand our own bodies as well as how we can best maintain and care for ourselves in between visits. Highly recommend!

I went to Mary for help with my knees, specifically my right knee. I've never had acupuncture so I…read morecan't compare to other practitioners, but I will say that from the beginning - setting up an appointment for a consultation, the professionalism of the office and Mary herself - to the actual work done on my knee, the experience has been a hugely positive one. Mary spends a lot of time listening to figure out what's happening within the body, and then takes the time to verbally walk through her plan and execution for pain relief. After two sessions, I am finding relief for my knee to continue doing the activities I love, and based on what she relayed to me, I should be able to prepare the knee when I plan on stressing it. A very positive experience!

If you have not yet experienced an osteopathic treatment you are definitely missing out on a huge modality for pain relief, among other issues. If you're not familiar with osteopathic medicine, the first thing you should know is that a D.O. has the same education as an M.D., and then some. From "prospectivedoctor.com": "DOs stress a holistic approach to medicine, which looks at the whole person rather than as a collection of organ systems and body parts that may become injured or diseased. This does not mean MDs do not look at the whole person, rather MDs are traditionally known to take more of a problem-based or disease-based approach. The DO holistic approach also emphasizes integrating patients into the health care process as a partner. DOs value constant communication and follow-up with their patients. The American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) states that DOs "consider the impact that lifestyle and community have on the health of each individual, and they work to break down barriers to good health." This philosophy is one key reason why many DO medical students choose to practice primary care."
