The staff is very knowledgeable about their stuff- both the product details of their goods, as well as the technical gemological information and its history. They're very welcoming about people dropping by to gawk at their beauties (a docent-led tour of their pretties, anyone?) as well as customers who are looking to purchase pretties for themselves or for others. The staff is patient about answering questions as well as generously providing technical information and history that they think will be of interest to their customers. They won't pressure you to buy. During my last visit, it so happened to be that they had a stunning aquamarine ring that I just had to get.. oops. (But not oops because even after a few days, I have zero buyer's remorse!) They have a flexible layaway plan for folks who may be tight on the budget. For jewelries that are of high value (likely $1000+) they provide appraisal. To resize a ring, they ask for a week's time and they charge exactly what their jeweler would charge them for resizing. Talk about a friendly and trustworthy store! I'd highly recommend folks swinging by downtown Chico to pay a visit to Country Squyres, whether it's for funsies or for a unique engagement ring shopping. p.s. This place was huge compared to the other stores in downtown. It was filled with locally-made items and food from the area and county. There were so many unique gifts and items here. We spent over an hour in the store browsing! My friend and I spent over 5 minutes talking to Patty in the food section listening to her talk about each vendor she personally worked with and knew. You could hear the passion in her voice when describing each item. The scones mix, she explained, took the chef over a year to perfect, the hot sauces, she knew every little detail. She was so knowledgeable and welcoming. In fact, all the employees we interacted with were so helpful. I've had Lundberg organic brown rice many times as they used to carry it at my Costco but I had no idea they made rice chips. One of the other employees said she went to high school with the Lundberg's kids! There were so many things I wanted to bring back home but couldn't.
