The original owners were great, but it's all gone straight downhill since Storage Rentals of America purchased it. They immediately removed our nonprofit charity discount and raised our rate to a laughably outrageous $235 a month. The place is not being maintained properly. Sometimes the lights work. Sometimes the gate works. Sometimes the door keypad works. Most of the time, they don't. The entryways are deteriorating and you have to lift your dolly over crooked, uneven steps to get your stuff into the buildings. And then there are the squatters. 99% of the time, you'll find these Informa Business Systems vans parked at your storage building, blocking the doors while people sit in camping chairs and "work." Constantly. We have many photos of them, hanging out, blocking customers and definitely not working. Business as usual at Storage Rentals of America. Take your hard-earned money elsewhere or prepare to be screwed, over and over and over.

We had a teak dining table and 8 chairs (total weight of 420 pounds) that we needed to ship from Lansing, MI to Scottsdale, AZ. We initially tried to find a "less-than-full-load" moving company provider that could add our items to a load. No luck. We then checked with a package shipper. They advised us that they couldn't handle the items, but suggested we contact Craters & Freighters. We found that Craters & Freighters had offices in many locations throughout the USA. We contacted the Detroit location and spoke with Sandy. She was very helpful and professional in working with us to arrange the shipment. (We found that the rate was reasonable and comparable to the rates if we had found an acceptable "less-than-full-load" moving company.) When the shipment arrived, we were blown away by the quality of the packing. The shipment was contained in 3 large crates. The furniture was very carefully packed/padded to prevent damage. Once we unpacked the items, we found to our great satisfaction that they had made the long trip without incurring any damage. The end-point shipper contracted by Craters & Freighters - Detroit was XPO https://www.xpo.com/. We were also very pleased with the quality of their delivery service. Dave, the driver for XPO commented to us that in his experience, Craters & Freighters provided exceptional service - noting that many of the art dealers in town frequently used them for packing and shipping artwork to and from their galleries. If you need this kind of special packing and shipping service, you cannot go wrong working with Craters & Freighters serving your community.

He worked hard to put together a crew on such short notice and made sure everything was moved safely into a storage unit. I cannot express how grateful we are to have had such incredible people step in during such a difficult time and help us when we needed it most. The owner was excellent at communicating throughout the entire process and was quick to find solutions despite the challenges. My family and I will never forget the compassion and generosity that Ultimate Movers showed us. Thank you, Ultimate Movers, for turning an incredibly stressful situation into one that felt manageable. We will always be grateful.

Patriot Moving Systems caught my attention so I called them to get more information. I talked with Dennis to get answers to my questions. He told me they are full service, meaning they will pack as well as move your household contents. You also have the option to do your own packing. One place I called pretty much only loads and moves your stuff so you have to do your own packing. Patriot sells boxes and packing materials but also suggested Home Depot or Lowe's but said he actually prefers and recommends getting these from U-Haul as he thinks theirs are better quality and sturdier. What I like is the way Dennis explained our options without overly promoting materials through Patriot. He also explained the rates for their services. Basically it is an hourly rate per person plus a trip charge and cost of the truck usage. He came out and walked through or house and then was able to give us a rough estimate of the number of hours we would likely need. We planned to use a staging company so we needed to pack some things to thin out certain areas like closets and kitchen countertops. So we arranged for Patriot to send out three people to box and move things into the garage for three hours and that was a big help. They were focused and hard working guys who went practically non-stop for the time scheduled. Whenever there was a question about packing certain items they asked about it. I could tell that they all knew what they were doing, their experience showed and they treated our things as if they were theirs. Delicate items were wrapped well for protection. Our move is currently on hold as we continue to pursue selling our home but Dennis checks in with me periodically to see how things are going. I will update this review once we actually complete our move but we know who we trust with packing and moving our property.

Two guys showed up with a huge truck; took about 2 hours to load and drove the 60+ miles to my new home. I explained that I would have to leave before they finished, so I could drive back to Dearborn in the daylight (eyesight issues). That's when it all fell apart. I went back the next day to find plastic wrap strewn around the house, leaves all over the inside of the house, items left wrapped, a dirty bathroom and smoke smell. I contacted Fordson, and was told a slew of lies the worker told him; He said I told them not to enter the garage, FALSE. He said he couldn't find anywhere to dispose of the plastic wrap - THERE WAS A GARBAGE CAN IN THE DRIVEWAY NEXT TO THEIR TRUCK, I was told they aren't responsible for cleaning up after the job. I told Fordson I felt taken advantage of, being alone and older, and that his employee was lying. They made no accommodation and essentially blew me off once they were paid. My Advise: WATCH THEM EVERY MINUTE and make sure a man is around. They will lie and cheat and take advantage of a single woman. BEWARE.
