We did try another local place never to return . Whether you call in person or ask for a delivery the service and quality of food is always delicious, freshly made and piping hot. I had Chicken noodle soup yesterday I do not normally have a starter but yesterday felt the need and we had some teeny tiny tasty spring rolls super tasty. Their Chicken Satay on skewers is a favourite of mine served with lovely fresh peppers and onions and a lovely spicy satay sauce and fried rice and plain chow mein not all eaten by I might add. And always delevered or served with complimentry prawn crackers.

Located by the end of the first exit from the Clyde Tunnel in Whiteinch, Sesame is my go-to source for Chinese food (particularly if I'm feeling lazy or hungover!) It's quite a small unassuming shop, but has plenty of tasty treats to offer. It offers all of the standard options you'd expect from a Chinese take-away and from my experience so far does them all really well. I'm a huge fan of their chicken noodle soup, so deliciously salty and comforting, and the dainty spring rolls, nice and crisp, which both get ordered almost every time. Other regularly ordered items include chicken chow mein or fried rice, orange chicken and shredded chilli beef, all very tasty. Their satay sauce is also particularly good and if you're ordering the full dish you have the choice of the meat on skewers or already in the sauce (my preference is on skewers). Between myself, family and friends I'd say we've been through at least half of the menu by now and haven't had a bad dish yet. You can also order via Just Eat and delivery is available, perfect if you're feeling uber lazy. So if you're out to the West of the West End then I'd recommend giving Sesame a try!

When we got turned away at Nok's Kitchen, we were recommended over here to Street Box. (Just a note…read moreI have noticed is that almost all the restaurants in Stockbridge need reservations as they are all fully packed with no chance of walk-ins). Luckily enough, Street Box offers a back-up alternative even though it is meant to be a take-away spot. Nonetheless, they still offer one communal table with a couple stool at the window still for those who want to dine-in. The menu is extensive with all types of Thai cuisine ranging from curry to rice and noodle dishes. my go-to Thai dish is a Pad See Ew, which was not on the menu but the waiter told me they could make it for me off menu --what a wonderful thing to hear! He was very friendly with our group as well. The only problem was that everyone else in my party got their food except me only to find out that they forgot my order. The waiter did notice right away and assured me it would be out within minutes. Although I was a bit upset, the food made up for it. The off menu Beef Pad See Ew (£8) was very flavorful and delicious. The noodles and vegetables were seasoned very well. The dish did use a thinner, dried rice noodle (used in Pad Thai) instead of a flat, wide rice noodle. They also did not skimp on the spiciness, which I appreciated since Thai food is meant to be spicy. Overall, affordable and delicious Thai food that is great for take-aways. The space had a hipster and eccentric vibe with unique Thailand decors as well. This is a great go-to spot whenever you're craving Thai food.

This quote superbly describes this past week, as I skipped past, smushed my face against the window and all out stalked their website waiting for Ruan Siam's new sister restaurant Street Box to open. Did I learn about this little spot because I was taken aback when Ruan Siam was closed for a week during the launch? Yes. Was a week without thai take away worth it to have this little outpost right around the corner? Heck to the yes. The Lazy Gal default setting is strong in this one. Here's what we know so far: This tiny (and I mean TINY) place is run by the same folks that own Ruan Siam just up the street. They have expanded the menu and offer delivery between 6pm - 10:15pm seven days a week. They have one picnic style table and bench seating to sit in. It's small but they've done a good job with the space. They have quick meal boxes for those looking for great lunch take away in the area and are open in the afternoons. The new menu items like Pad Kee Maow (spicy rice noodle stir fry with Galangal, lemongrass, chilli and mixed vegetable) are deliciously on point. Their curries are still as bad ass as they were when Ruan Siam was dishing them out. I will be here ALL the time. More options for great thai food? Win.

I've been using Grow Wild for a couple of years now, and I can't fault their service. I get a box of vegetables dropped off at my front door every Thursday lunch time - completely stress free experience. Of course, the thing about organic box schemes is the element of surprise involved. You don't know what you're going to get in your box from week to week. It depends on whatever is in season and what is available from local suppliers. Some might find me a little strange, but I feel it's a little like Christmas every week when I open my front door with anticipation over what goodies I'm going to find in my box that week. It really does open your eyes to the the numerous different types of vegetables that are actually out there! Whoever said that being a vegetarian must be 'boring' (how wrong could you possibly bewhoever says this clearly doesn't know anything about the number of different types of veg out there)? I'm quite 'up' on my vegetables, but even I'm surprised when I get odd random stick looking things (salsify), mazuna, yellow courgettes and the most weird and wonderful looking vegetables known to man! Things that I've never ever seen in a supermarket before. It opens up a whole new world of cooking tooyou see what you've got in your box, Google the vegetables and see what random selection of recipe suggestions come up including the items that you have. If there's anything that you particularly don't like or don't want to receive in your box, you can just give Grow Wild a call and they'll tailor make your vegetable box to suit your requirements. I love carrotsbut was finding that I was getting so many of them week to week, that I was running out of inspiration and didn't know what to do with them all. No problemjust called Grow Wild and they arranged to just include carrots just every second week instead. If I've had any issues with the vegetables not being quite up to quality when I've received them, I've called them and they've included extra vegetables the following week, or given me a discount off my box that week as compensation. The boxes come in a range of sizes to suit different households, and include vegetable boxes, fruit boxes and mediterranean boxes, for example. Grow Wild can also supply dairy products, meat products, store cupboard items, eco-friendly cleaning products and toiletries, and much more. If you'd like to add any of these items to your weekly delivery, or include them as a one-off, they're happy to help. Grow Wild really are a great company to deal with. I love eating healthily, and the organic box scheme ensures that I'm able to live up to this aim incredibly simply. My diet's never been better, and I'm eating a greater array of vegetables than most people are aware even exist!

Still everywhere deserves a review, especially when it is the best local Chinese takeaway around here! Shanghai Delight serves up hundreds of Chinese takeaways every day and is always mobbed yet the food is always very good. I am not saying it is sit down city centre quality, but very few takeaways are. It is though very good at what it does do. Personal favourites are salt and chilli chips, salt and chilli chicken, chopped ribs in black bean sauce, beef Kung po, beef curry and chicken satay. None of these of course are advised as part of any healthy diet plan that I can imagine and are probably far from authentic. But they do taste very good. If you are up this way and fancy a Chinese feast then you should give this place a try.

So Shanghai is definitely a delight and does the best Chinese takeaway! If it wasn't packed with delicious calories I would eat it everyday! Owned by a husband and wife who have lived here for year originally born in Hong Kong, the husband the head in the kitchen you sometimes hear chatting in Cantonese to the rest of his crew he never crosses over. Occasionally the wife is on the desk she very friendly speaks English but only to the punters. A couple times a year they will close for a couple of weeks where there take a holiday a go back to HK to visit family. Ok so the best dishes are Salt and chili chips, Kung Po beef, salt and chili chicken. A wee beef curry never hurts anyone! To be honest of i was ordering Chinese and Shanghai was closed I'd just go without. All or nothing!

Most reviewers had…read morethe pasta dishes, and while I do agree that the price is a bit high for pasta take-away (versus sitting in at Vittoria right beside Eatalias) I'm not sure the establishment deserves to be marked down for that. Especially since you have the choice to go elsewhere rather than pay that price for pasta. Nonetheless, everyone is very well entitled to rate on what is important to them. For myself (and 7 year old son) we like the pizza. Scratch that, we loooove the pizza. I've never ordered the pasta and have very rarely tried the chips (think they were a tad soggy the last time) but this review will be just on the pizza and service, which I think both are great! Eatalias is practically on my doorstep and I've been going here every other week for 4 years. They've certainly earned my patronage as they are always warm and welcoming when we come in. They are a family run establishment and are just always so cheerful and ready to ask my son how he's doing. We never order big, as it's just the two of us, but that never detracts from the service we get. Prices - very good. We order a 12" or 16" half margarita half pepperoni which is always between £8- £12. In my opinion this is very well priced considering Dominos or Pizza Hut always end up being around £20 for the same. Maybe is because we go in to get it but even so. Quality - I've never been disappointed by a pizza here. The crust is a thin Italian base and they always use fresh ingredients. I personally do not enjoy thick crust pizza so it's to my tastes. Sometimes more cheese and less sauce is needed but after 4 years and that's my only complaint. I love many of their other pizzas with some delicious toppings (sadly the boy doesn't like veggies on a pizza!) and even better some super spicy ones. All in all I'll continue to get my bi-weekly Friday night pizza from here...until I move perhaps. Perhaps not! I would say you wouldn't be disappointed by ordering a pizza here, but everyone has a particular taste for pizza. But it's far better than Dominos or Pizza Hut!!! PS - they have Gluten free crusts now and I believe they are part of Taste of Italy.
