Ok, I didn't really want to write a review for a psychiatrist on Yelp, but she absolutely does not…read moredeserve 2 stars. I've seen 3 different psychiatrists, including her. All they have to do is ask how the medicine is working. If things are going well, they can just prescribe more and that's the end of the session. If things aren't going well, they can make other suggestions and prescribe other meds. Dr. Rickenbacker always asked me how things were going, how my job was, etc. She actually cared about my life outside of the medicine she was prescribing. She was also always up to date on the latest research and had me trying out the latest medicines. She was actually a bit creative in that regard and could recommend things that weren't necessarily what every other psychiatrist was prescribing. In the end, her knowledge and her ability to think outside the box is what found a medicine that worked for me. I always scheduled my next appointment with her after my session was over, so I usually didn't have any problems, but I do remember her being hard to schedule with if I had to cancel. She does frequently run over her session times, but I always made sure to schedule plenty of time off work to see her, so it never interfered with anything for me. On days she was running late, I never felt like she rushed through my session to try to catch up. I realize these are big drawbacks, but she is really worth it. The only reason I don't see her anymore is because she no longer takes my insurance.

I have yet to recieve a call back. Followup (03/26): I did recieve a call after sixteen business days however, their services were no longer required. UPDATE!!! Five years later now. My new insurance has strong armed me into leaving my current physician. I decided to give Denae a second chance, given her close proximity to my office. Nearly the same issues again! It was difficult to reach someone, although easier than in 2012. They are currently only accepting new patients by referral which seems odd. I tried to play the game, having my doctor fax over Denae's required form which feels more like an application/screening. After numerous attempts, Denae's office denied receiving the form. My very generous current physician even made multiple attempts to call her office but could not get through to a live person. It appears the poor client service is a cornerstone for Denae's practice.

I knew my body and I knew something was wrong with it even though the standard blood work showed different. B4 2007 I was a gym rat, highly energetic fun person, with a sharp mind. A surgery sent me into a tail spin. My life sucked; I could barely function; at times I could not speak due to overwhelming fatigue. I saw PA Debbi Winder and she had me get tests on everything the blood work did not cover. Low and behold-a major problem-she was surprised I was still working and walking with this new information. I knew I was bad off but now I had the proof. I wanted to rebuild my body and mind. I was totally depleted in neurotransmitters, adrenals, thyroid, had chronic insomnia, and digestive issues. Thru Debbi's knowledge and work with Ron they have brought me back to the living. Now I can laugh and smile. My mind serves me well. My body is strong and getting stronger every day. I know that in time I will be better than I ever was before I got sick. I highly recommend that anyone who has not gotten positive results with regular doctors come to AIM. Take charge of your life people! And as far as wait time and insurance. In these times of course a good doctor would not take insurance. They pay peanuts. This doctor's office is the best. You get what you pay for. If you want a pill and a band aid for your ailment go to an insured provider. If you want true health for your body come here. The wait of course is long because they are well sought after and they can only take so many in a day. It is worth the wait. I waited and I'm grateful I did; you will be too. The office staff is very nice and accomodating. Yes I get annoyed when my phone call is not answered but I know it is only bc they are serving those in the office at the time. This is a very busy office. They will get you what you need in a timely fashion. I am pleased with the service.

Dr. Manzanero's practice is called Austin Integrative Medicine (AIM)…read more I used to like this doctor, but when he kept moving and rapidly expanding his practice, it became increasingly difficult to get an appointment with him that didn't involve a 2-3 month wait. Hence, I was urged by the phone staff to see his PA Debbi Winder instead, so I finally did and I did not have a good experience with her. When all I needed was a basic bloodwork panel and prescription, she was upbeat, warm and caring. However, that initial 'glow' faded fast when I was suffering from an exacting medical issue. I had a severe case of anemia, that was *glaringly obvious* on my lab results, which she reviewed. Over several (expensive) consultations with her, she seemed to 'miss' that as a source of my problems, as she never addressed it medically, expressed concern about how severely anemic I was, or attempted to correct the condition. Moreover, she seemed annoyed, impatient, and put out by the inconvenience of my more pressinga and distressing medical issues. They do *not* take medical insurance and the fees per hour are high! You can submit your receipt on your own to your insurance company (they don't handle any insurance forms) to be reimbursed for whatever your insurance may pay. There was a time when I did recommend Dr. Manzanero, but after my last few and final experiences at his practice and with his PA, I no longer feel I can.

He has mentioned more alternative medications than any of my previous doctors; options I didn't come across in my research. I love doing my own research (which he supports) and as a result I occasionally, inadvertently challenge him with obscure pharmacological questions I read in a random science journal article -- but Dr. Dale is a walking textbook. Yes, he doesn't submit your insurance, but when you get to only needing quarterly med maintenance appointments, it's totally affordable. My normal BCBSTX gov marketplace discounted healthcare coverage still covers my medications, but I've also used the drug coupons conveniently included in the equally convenient auto-text you receive when Dr. Dale submits prescriptions to your pharmacy. (Also, I have noticed the "submit claim" button on my healthcare provider's website, who is constant improving their website UX -- all things considered it's possible using insurance is simple as paying my insurance bill? The money feels so well-spent I never think to investigate!) He builds you up. Somehow in a brief conversation -- that rarely feels medical in nature -- he identifies the one thing you need to hear that day and says it. Things you didn't even realize were stressing you. It's like he has intuition super powers. I seriously leave every appointment the happiest person on the planet. Comfortable and confident. Easy parking. He doesn't have a front desk person, which is nice in many ways, but I really appreciate not needing to repeat conversations about appointment times. Instead he sends you a calendar event invite reminder for your next appointment as you set it. Billing is automated. He responds to emails same or next day. The only times I've waited to see him were appointments I arrived early to. Quite an all-around efficient business he is running. I found him on Yelp after moving here from Los Angeles. Short on meds from the move, he saw me quickly without issue. I'm LGBTQ so it's always important for me to find someone who understands the culture. He has been nothing but unflinchingly welcoming. He worked with me in planning continued treatment while traveling Europe for work for over a year. When I had a boarder-line stalker ex post breakup, Dr. Dale even checked my ex's social media that month to make sure there were no bad signs. FWIW, I was being treated for depression and anxiety. Once that cleared up ASD1 and ADHD were identified to be the cause of my virtually life-long depression and occasionally social-phobia level anxiety. Today I know I have a healthy brain. I have experienced the triggers and easily moved on from them. I'm more creative and balanced. Since seeing Dr. Dale my sluggish life has started to transform, I snagged a dream job after years of interviews, I have become financially secure for the first time in my 34 years of life, better than I'd ever have imagined. I used to be a heavy drinker and today I don't even crave it when I'm around drinking. I am comfortable and no longer feel the *need* I used to feel in almost any social or public environment. When I do crave beer it is like someone turned off whatever that switch was that made me drink them so quickly and in college-life quantity. I usually forget forget I opened a beer halfway through!
