I had a couple of glasses of Chateau Contenac-Brown to complement (kind of) a grilled octopus , thickly sliced with cauliflower purée, and a black ink tortellini with crab. Some cheese to finish. All wonderful . Near the conclusion i messaged a few friends after spying a 2010 Chateau LasCombes on the menu that i felt needed to be had and shared. My companion and I each opted for the prix fixe "journey" dinner, with about 4-5 small plates with accompanying cocktails. I chose the Eastern tinged "Silk Road" and my companion went for the "Castilian." The small plates were beautifully presented and had about two to three bites. My journey featured duck, crisp rolls, perfectly cooked fish, and other tasty tidbits. Even the runner was wonderfully cordial, filled with smiles. I would definitely return, even to just sit at the fun bar and people watch.

We shared several dishes: Ruskie dumplings (cheese, potato, and onion); marinated herring with apple and creamed onion; pan-fried fillet of cod with horseradish sauce and sauteed spinach; and beef goulash with brandy served with buckwheat. Everything was delicious - but the dish of the night was the cod - I'd eat that weekly. They sadly weren't able to make me a martini (they couldn't have been out of vodka, so I assumed they had run out of vermouth?), but I had a nice glass of Polish wine, while my husband had some Polish beer. The restaurant is charming - understated and comfortable and well-lit. These don't taste any different than regular American pancakes but they are nice and fluffy. Their "SWEET PANCAKES" and "SAVORY PANCAKES" are actually crepes - so if you want crepes, order one of these, they're massive. If you want American pancakes, order the Butterscotch pancakes. I personally always get a Butterscotch stack with chocolate chips and Maple syrup (I don't believe the syrup is real Maple syrup but we can't have it all). These are great if you really need a fix :) A word of advice for people who are confused when you see your crepe (aka sweet or savory pancakes), yes they are laid out flat on the circular plate. Put your fork in the corner of the crepe and roll it. This is the best way to eat these crepes. I recommend for Butterscotch pancakes. I have personally not tried their crepes but they do look amazing! The apple juice is also quite nice :)
