Interesting facts learned on fireflies: they like leafy dark areas, eat slugs, and snails and really lite up the park. Paved trail, not very long, perfect for quick walk or hike to explore the many trees. Family, everyone friendly.

There's even swings and a playground for the two legged puppers. I came to add some books to the free little library. I was amazed at how clean and well kept the grounds were. Visitors really stay on top of their dogs. I didn't see a single pile. Or maybe all the dogs just become like those kids who get too caught up in playing to take a bio break.

In addition to the bike and walking paths that pass through this park, it gets used for winter sports like snowshoeing and cross country skiing. There's tennis courts, too. No playgrounds that I can tell, but that makes it an ideal place to observe wildlife or have a quiet picnic. I've been in the area so many times without realizing this was here. Lots of benches, some with shade, some without. There's a pond for fishing. Just a lovely jewel in the suburbs near the university. Makes me wish I could have a do-over because my college experience would probably be a lot nicer in a place like this.

A nice wooden bridge, Ellicott creek, a ton of planted trees , the American flag, and several wooden benches fill up this park, which reaches from North Forest to the UB campus. The best part of this walk, though, was when it started raining and we were heading back....... amazingly, a mama and baby deer came really close to the trail, eating grass and looking up at us every once in a while. That made for a great photo opportunity! I'll be back to take a ride on my bike sometime.... P.S. be cautious of your GPS , the address lead me to the golf course, not the park. Fisherman Park is a small park between River Street and the Niagara River. There's less parking…read morethan Gratwick Waterfront Park. The play structure is smaller, but there's a lot of swing sets. There's also a covered pavilion and water access. There's also a nearby veteran memorial. I wouldn't make a special trip for this park, but if you're in North Tonawanda, it's worth a visit, especially if you have kids who like to swing.

Because I'm a big fan, in fact this is where I played some of the biggest soccer games of my amateur grown-up life once I moved to Buffalo. Under the floodlights late in the evening, playing for the Eagles, we had some great moments here. Through balls, defensive blocks, epic crosses, and a very famous last minute goal by JG (hey if you're reading, that was an awesome strike!), and those memories will last forever. I actually felt like an American on those nights. Like I'd never been born and raised in a pessimistic negative rough and harsh society like I was. As if I'd been one of the dreamers, the Hollywood kids, the baseball kids, the cotton candy Kool Aid kids, and yes I must have been drinking the Kool Aid before writing this. We caught small mouth bass, perch, sunfish, and minnows. So cool! We even had a surprise with one of the fish. . Highly recommend for family, friends, and geese lovers.
