Everyone is always friendly, welcoming, and attentive, and that really makes a huge difference in the overall experience. The food is always solid, the atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable, and the employees genuinely seem to care about customer service. That said, I have to mention one ongoing issue because this is now the fourth time I have come in and they have not had Michelob Ultra in stock. At this point, it is starting to feel a little surprising, especially considering Michelob Ultra is one of the most popular beers in America. For a restaurant like Islands, where people come to relax, enjoy a burger, and have a beer, it seems like this should be a pretty standard item to keep available. After the first time, I brushed it off. After the second and third time, I figured it was just bad luck. But now on the fourth visit, it feels like a consistent inventory problem that should probably be addressed. The reason I am still giving this place a positive review is because the staff themselves are not the issue at all. In fact, they have always been great about it. They stay professional, polite, and helpful, and they continue to provide excellent service regardless. That is what makes this location stand out. Even when something is missing, the employees still make the visit enjoyable. It says a lot about the team that I can leave disappointed about the beer selection but still feel extremely satisfied overall because of how well they treat customers. So this review is really a mix of praise and a gentle nudge. Islands in Eastlake has an excellent staff, a great atmosphere, and a consistently good dining experience. I just really hope management figures out the Michelob Ultra situation, because four times without it is a little wild. Came here on a weeknight around 8pm. Not too busy, we were able to be seated right away. We ordered and didn't have to wait too long for our food to be brought out. The serving sizes are pretty big. The onion rings were flavorful and crispy. The chicken wings were also good. I also enjoyed the French fries. The salad I got was just okay. Also a big portion, but the flavors didn't really blend well for me. Our server was friendly and checked on us regularly. Prices are comparable to other restaurants similar to this one. I am staying out here for work so I am trying to find a regular spot, I stopped by here for lunch today really enjoyed the service. And I tipped my waiter well. But I don't know how you claim you have fine burgers on your sign. Please look at the pictures of my burger and tell me this is completely cooked. I showed the waiter and he says that's how they make them and it's normal, to me. It looks disgusting so I didn't finish it. I did pay for everything I didn't ask for a refund . Looking for an early lunch, I dropped by the Otay Lakes restaurant at about 11:30. I was greeted immediately, and noticed I was just about the only customer at that time. My order was the $11.99 Lunch Special Northshore Tacos. Two of them were presented, wrapped in a raw flour tortilla with a small cup of salsa. The innards were a bit unusual, consisting of a sort of chopped salad. There might have been some meat in there, but it was not readily apparent. The taste was rather bland, and the texture boring. Not something I would order again. The service by Yaaziel was excellent, but could not make up for the underwhelming meal. This is the first disappointing visit I have ever made to Islands. The service was excellent and our main server, Isabelle, was patient and friendly! Food was delicious and flavorful. I wish the burger toppings stayed on the burger but they ended up sliding off the sides onto the plate. The lettuce and onions are shredded so they have a hard time staying on the actual burger. However, I would say my favorite would be the fries. Specifically the seasoning! I also ordered a lemon freeze which was absolutely amazing! Ambiance is louder than a usual restaurant but that's understandable since it's a restaurant fit for bringing all ages to. The decorations were very fitting for the theme of the restaurant and the cleanliness was top tier! Overall, very nice experience! He carefully read every detail back to me, then disappeared for a long while. Didn't get my beverage until all the food arrived 10-15 minutes later. I fault his manager for not training him better. I was sitting at an uncrowded bar around noon. The young man was a bartender. His supervisor should explain to him that he should deliver a patron's drink ASAP in this situation. The food was mediocre. Garden salad instead of fries for an up charge included just one piece of tomato the size of a thimble. The salad didn't appear really fresh. It was okay, but not really good. My sandwich, a "BLT Wedge" was assembled with bacon and melted cheese that had been staged for assembly hours earlier for kitchen efficiency. It was quick, but just a little better than fast food. The setting was clean and appealing. This restaurant has hired some good people. The next steps are showing them what good service is all about and making the food better.
