So multiple people suggested this place so took the 3.5yr old in for a routine visit. She had lip tie and tongue tie. Dr. Raz wanted to do both procedures, but especially the tongue. The routine visit went fine and without issue. The 3.5yr had no issues, surprisingly. They had TVs on ceiling and she kind of just hung out and watched while they cleaned. For the tongue tie and lip tie procedures we came back a few months later. And. It went poorly. She was a total Jack-wagon. She spit the initial medicine out (the juice with medicine in it) all over her shirt. So since we didnt know how much medicine she injested we had to try another type. Which we had to hold her down and syringe it. If you're sensitive and cannot make hard decisions then this would not be for you. She got that medicine and went all loopy (talking to the wall and everything). So we were ready. Got in the chair. Gassed. Got her teeth coated. Then injections. Got her lip tie done without issue. Then while numbing for her tongue she woke up and went full psycho. Again, if you cant handle seeing your kid in such a state then you need to figure out how to prepare for such a situation as you might have to see them get restrained and kind of fight the procedure. This is why I was there - mom cant handle stuff like that. I can. Once done she was still psycho. Didnt give a crap if I was there to console her. So mom had to come in. Then she was calm. Drugs? Maybe? Or maybe she just really likes mom that much more. In either case, if possible make sure you have both parent available just in case the kid wakes up and only wants one specific person and everyone else is the devil trying to steal them. Kids wake up like psychopaths, especially when they have people rooting around in their mouth. Anyways. 4 stars. The office called, texted, and emailed multiple times to schedule even though I had not said YES i 100% want to do it. When i left the initial cleaning i said I'd think about it. So i felt like it was a bit of innessesary pressure. I get it z im sure they make a lot on these procedures but maybe let the patients/parents/guardians call back when they are ready? read more

The office manager is very rude, she doesn't have any customer service. she literally took no accountability for not following up with a pre authorization. the office sent multiple text messages stating my appointment was still scheduled and when I got to the office they told me I couldn't be seen. my son needed emergency dental work and they denied my son but never communicated that before i arrived. office manager raised her voice at me and cut me short multiple times while i tried communicate my grievance. Every time we see him my kiddo's life gets a little easier! Three separate occasions kiddo had fallen and chipped one of his teeth. After a bad fall chipping to the root & having lots of pain/stress with teeth brushing& regressing away from solids Dr.Rez had run out of temporary options & had to put little man under for some crowns. He actually had to sculpt them because the smallest standard ones were too big for such a tiny patient..Baby was back to eating well and brushing teeth that same week! It is a shame I have to give this place one star, solely because of one person. Everyone was friendly except for the dental hygienist, Kylie Fountain. Because of her my daughter left in tears, and the reason why children are terrified to go to the dentist. She was rough with my daughter and spoke to her very aggressively. I stood up for my daughter at the end up of the appointment, but she did not take accountability or apologize. Instead her response to speaking to my daughter in a rough manner was, "you can only ask someone something so many times". And the closest thing to an apology was, "I'm sorry your daughter is upset because her mouth hurts", when I had just told her my daughter was crying because of the way she treated her. She saw my daughter cry after she finished with her teeth, and no matter how much she denies and doesn't take accountability, I know that deep inside she knew she was in the wrong because when she went to clean my son's teeth, it was a night and day difference. Actions speak louder than words, and she really deserves to be fired. If this practice values their reputation they will do that, but if not, Kylie Fountain, I hope that you will mature enough one day to reflect on your actions of 5/29/24, and call us to apologize because that is the human thing to do. I know it was probably embarrassing and difficult to be made aware of your behavior in front of your coworkers, but you and I both know the truth, and if you can't learn from this, PLEASE change your career. Dr. Rez gave us so much information about how we should be cleaning her teeth and what things we could do to make brushing easier on her. As far as his check up on her teeth, he was very quick and still thorough. Every single aspect of this office is wonderful! (My 10yr old son has Fragile-X Syndrome & Autism) The staff was beyond amazing when we arrived. It's one thing to put his diagnoses on the paperwork but then see the staff working with him actually know, was shocking in the best way. They all made sure to speak to him instead of just me. Before seeing Islands Pediatric Dentistry for a lip and tongue tie procedure Alex didn't eat anything! His weight was dropping and I was overwhelmed and spent all day every day just trying to get enough sustenance in him to keep him healthy. A lot of tears were shed by this stressed out momma! We were in food therapy, I was taking courses on how to get him to eat, I completely stopped sleeping due to anxiety. I saw small changes within a few weeks of the procedure. The big changes showed up about 1-1.5 months after the procedure. It took him some time to figure out how to use his mouth after being tied up for so long. Now here he is eating chicken fries, string cheese, spinach and romaine lettuce salad, drinking from a sippy cup nipple, and trying to use a fork! Watching him eat is therapeutic now. Thank you! Do not go here. Period. I have proof that these horrible people are just looking to get your money at the expense of your child's well-being. We went here to get a diagnosis of work that was just horrific. I immediately felt ashamed that my child's teeth had deteriorated so much during the pandemic that I was in fact a horrible mother. The dentist told me he wanted to avoid my child going to the hospital and the work involved, of course, General Anesthesia, because he had like 8 cavities and needed 5 crowns?!!! Holy H! I asked for the X-rays since it just felt off. I emailed them to our pediatric dentist in Tijuana who had seen our child before. After being told the work needed was far less, we took him to another highly rated dentist in a Gilbert for a third opinion. The exact same work as our second opinion from Tijuana. We had the work done at Dentists of Gilbert Crossroads and was very relieved he needed 1/3 of the work! We will be reporting them to the BBB and whatever dental board reviews such things, but in the meantime please consider these people wanted to give 5 crowns when only 2 were needed. They would have put my child under GA when it can be dangerous and should only be used when absolutely necessary. ALSO, their white crown option was like $450 p/ tooth when DOGC was like a $100 upgrade? I'll have to double check the prices but I was speechless when I saw the breakdown in comparison. Really horrible, I feel so bad for any family who has put their child under the care of this office when it is so clear the goal is money NOT care! I just left Islands Pediatric Dentistry and it was NOT pleasant. Was the building nice? Yes. BUT, my experience with the dental assistant was appalling. She insisted that X-rays are REQUIRED for the first visit. She rolled her eyes and spoke down to me as if my request to wait and speak to the doctor about X-rays was ridiculous. My son just had a panoramic X-ray at his orthodontist and I was on the fence about allowing more X-rays at the time. Once the doctor came in, my experience with him was disappointing. It was very uncomfortable and I did not feel like I had a voice there. He was telling me to do what I'm comfortable with, while at the same time telling me to just do what he says because "he's the doctor of 34 years". I decided to leave and not do anything. I'll be going to a dentist that is open to a mother's questions and one that has friendly staff. I have taken my son to two dentists in Mesa and he has not had a pleasant experience. I decided to take him to Islands Pediatric Dentistry because it is a five-star on Yelp. My first impression when I walked into the office was: "Wow!" It is a brand new office which is perfect. It really made me and my son feel very comfortable. The receptionist, the two dental assistants who helped my son get through the whole cleaning process the first time in quite awhile, and of course, Dr Rez. If I could give 100 stars I would! I stumbled upon Islands Pediatric because they do Saturday Appointments which is great for working parents. Customer Service was amazing over the phone, in person, and just overall throughout the whole dental process. Dr. Rez is so attentive to me and to my children's needs. My son has basically been a patient since this practice opened in 2017. Office is new, clean and inviting. I explained over the phone that my child was recently diagnosed ASD and had just left a pediatric dental place that was a traumatic experience for him. I explained that my son has a hard time with new places, new doctors, anyone near his mouth. How I have never been able to get my son to sit in the exam chair and have a proper dental exam. To my surprise, the receptionist relayed all this information to the dental staff. Called my son by his nickname (preferred versus his legal name) empathized with him and explained everything that would go on during this visit. Asked if he understood and if he was ok with it. For the first time ever, my son was able to sit in the exam chair, have x rays taken, and teeth cleaned all without having a meltdown and instead cooperating! It was our first successful dentist visit without either one of us leaving in tears.
