This place is similar to Chipotle, but I personally think they are better and cheaper! Stopped by during lunch - they were busy, but the line moved pretty quickly. While we had the food delivered, the dash person that picks up the food apparently also gets the drinks together. None of the drinks in the order was correct, which is a reflection on Islands. The hard taco shells were stale the order itself was wrong, and one of the orders had sour cream, which the person who got that order could not eat because they are allergic to it. When we called to get the $100 order rectified the manager kept interrupting, not wanting to take any of the blame for the wrong order that, we the customers could not help, then refused to do anything to help the situation except to refund the person who had got the sour cream on their order. What should have happened is the order should have been remade the correct way and sent out ASAP. Something Islands should think about when dealing with dash drivers to to make the drinks are ready for pick up for the driver. This was disappointing and the management could have fixed the issue by apologizing and remaking the order. read more

Cheap, fast and incredibly tasty!! Great service and awesome tacos. Definitely recommend the daily taco special. Go after 5pm and tacos are $1 woth the purchase of a drink! Atmosphere: okay so I'm going to be frankly honest, I only visit islands after a night of drinking with friends for some reason it just really hits the spot! Customer Service: the people are pretty nice especially since they have to deal with intoxicated customers on a nightly basis! So hey can't complain there! Food / Pricing: the pricing you can't beat it's super cheap and you get a ton of food plus chips and salsa comes free with it! Now the only reason I didn't give them higher is because when I've tried islands sober....... it's kinda ehhh :/ for some reason it doesn't taste as good! Why do all my friends like this place? It's a cheap deal is the only reason to get it. Not because it tastes good. All the meat is minced like it was put in a blender. I really wanted to love this place. I honestly wasn't impressed with the food. We wanted a quick bite when we got to Wilmington and it was across from the AirBB. Not happy with this visit at all ... thought I was ordering (4) - 1.00 tacos ... I asked for cilantro and was told it was an extra, I said well never mind then and he put it on anyway ... get to the register and the girl rung up a 16.00 bill and I asked why 16.00 when the sign clearly shows tacos are 1.00 after 5:00 pm ... then the manager comes over and explains to me that steak tacos are not 1.00 but all the others are ... and instead of offering me some kind of break on the price, continued to point out the 2 locations that indicate the steak tacos are more ... then he says, oh, she rung you up wrong anyway ... proceeds to re-ring it and it then come out to over 18.00 for 4 tacos ... I stood there for a minute debating with myself on whether to just walk out or not ... I chose to pay and leave ... Gotta love some islands for cheap but filling Mexican food. The have taco specials $2 during the day if you buy a drink and $1 at night if you buy a drink. You can't beat it. I usually get tacos or their salad in a shell for around $7. Both come with a bag of chips and unlimited salsa. Freshly made might I add! They will be very busy during prime dining times but the lines will move fast. If you sit outside be prepared to be asked for money from panhandlers. They are also open late night after the bars close downtown. So if you are waiting for uber-Lyft prices to drop and you need a place to sober up here's a great place to eat and wait. First of all let me say that I frequent this islands location at least once a week during my lunch break. Today I went just like any other day but what I saw was a customer going above and beyond to make sure they were RUDE to the staff. I have never ever had any issues with the staff and in fact they are some of the nicest people and do a wonderful job at being welcoming, accommodating, and owning up to their mistakes (which is is very rare that they make them). I just have to share my experience because they deserve to be praised. When this customer was so rude today they kept calm and they went above and beyond to make the customer happy with a smile on their faces. Customer service is not an easy job. Whoever the owner is a should be extremely proud of such a great staff. And if you couldn't tell the food is just as amazing... and fresh!! read more

Came here for lunch. I was in a rush and needed something quick. I am glad that I choose this place. The service was fast, the price was good and the food was delicious. I ordered the tilapia burrito with rice or cheese and it was still huge and so filling. The island sauce they add is so tasty. I also added guacamole on top. I must say that I am not a huge burrito lover but really enjoyed the burrito here. The fish was fresh and so were the veggies. Your meal comes with chips which were tastey as well. Is the food to die for? Maybe not, but it's quick, cheap, and still good. I always get the dollar tacos - the meats were a little dry, but adding a little salsa from the salsa bar does the trick! The guacamole wasn't too great, however I like ordering a side of queso to go with my chips. read more

I'm not sure where they get the sample pictures for this restaurant because my tacos looked nothing like them. As a matter of fact I'm not sure if the ground chicken in my taco was actually chicken. Since when is chicken a grayish brown color? I am pretty sure this place stays open due to their one dollar tacos that poor college students can appreciate. If you are wasted, and can't tell the difference between a bite of spaghetti and a bite of Chinese food you will be able to stomach the awkward taste of the food here! Good luck! read more
