That said, they have a nice tropical plant selection, so if that's your thing, it might be worth the trip; but, overall, the place leans much more toward annuals than perennials, and the large tree options were pretty limited, mostly dwarfs, not much variety beyond that. Prices felt higher than what we usually see at other Suffolk County nurseries, though we didn't buy anything to compare directly. What really stood out was the lack of service. The parking lot was full, but it was hard to find anyone actually working or available to help. If you're after perennials, boxwoods, or larger Japanese maples, Forge River has had a much better selection in our experience.

Face painting was $10, I believe the "gold digging" demo was $6 (and there is a sign that suggests you do the other activities before getting your face painted as the paint might not last, which I appreciated). Food was available for purchase and I got a roasted corn that I was forced to split with the kid. The corn wasn't that sweet but still sufficed. I didn't get to look at the plants or any of the nursery items but I will def head back there when in the area when it's time to start planting.

To start I got some chocolate boba milk tea from @wickedsisterstea, it was a perfect pick me up, just sweet enough and super flavorful. They also sell an assortment of loose teas that I highly recommend! Next my boyfriend and I sampled some empanadas at @amped_panadas, we shared the Florentine which is the vegetarian option and was super juicy and cooked perfectly and we shared the "the amped" a sloppy Joe empanada very clearly cooked with love. Two special shoutouts to @thelidipcompany and @creationsofbacon we sampled the Greek and baked clam dip which was basically a gyro and baked clam that can be served with crackers and pita. Unfortunately she was sold out otherwise my boyfriend and I would've bought it all! We also sampled the bacon Oreo and bacon jam sandwich at creations of bacon. Perfect mix of sweet savory and spicy! Lastly we stopped at @prettybakedonlongisland. We bought some jalapeño cheddar pretzels and she was having BOGO 50% off cookies so of course I grabbed a couple of those! We were greeted by Maria upon arriving and she showed us around a little and gave us some helpful ideas. She was very knowledgeable. We left that day with a few small shrubs. We returned a few days later to place a larger order which required delivery. Again Maria was a great help to us. We were told it would be likely a week before our large shrubs would be delivered, but I was delighted to get a text upon arriving home saying that they would deliver the very next day! They were great about text communication regarding the delivery, and everything arrived safely. One thing that we were pleasantly surprised about was that they had more plants in stock than it said on their website. It said that they were sold out of many items, however many of those plants (in the heights that we hoped for) were actually there. Definitely worth it to make a trip there to see exactly what is in stock in case things haven't been updated online. They had a 20% off flowering shrubs sale which was a nice bonus. We were very happy with our experiences at Bay Gardens and would definitely return. Everyone was friendly, professional, and (very important during this time) wearing masks. We definitely recommend Bay Gardens!

Bought 15 skip laurels here. 12 out of the 15 are completely dead less than a year later. Terrible…read morequality plants. They were planted in large holes with loose, rich soil at the bottom, adequately watered and got partial sun (they are supposed to do well in full shade or full sun). Didn't matter. 90% of them are completely dead now. That's nearly $2,000 in dead plants.
