I was headed to Maui for a 2 week vacation and my friend recommended her hair stylist Kaleo. I let my hair grow out for a extra month in preparation for a beach wave perm. What better place to get a beach wave than across from the beach on Maui? Kaleo really understood the type of perm I wanted and did a fantastic job on my hair. She trimmed and shaped and permed. After my perm, she did some additional trimming to give me the exact shape I wanted. She was very pleasant and we had a great chat while she worked on me. I left feeling that she was my friend as well as my hair stylist. Now that I'm home I can "wash and wear" my perm and it is perfect. Precisely what I was after. I guess I will have to return to Maui when I'm due for my next beach wave. read more

Arrived with a full beard needing a little neck trim and left with the worst abomination I've ever seen. The older lady who was clearly doing nothing when I arrived was a bit unfriendly no matter how polite I tried to be. This older lady moved at 100 MPH with no rhyme or reason. I explained that I aimed for only a neck trim and maybe a very slight trim of the beard. She started off right with a #2 guard then moved to no guard and freehanding a comb. She finished and my neck was zigzagged like a maze and my left and right cheeks heavily unleveled. I had patches of hair missing on my left as well and uncut patches in the center of my face. To think I not only paid but tipped well after, I should have said something. I can't recommend enough to avoid this place unless you work with the not old front desk lady. read more

I had a fabulous hair stylist in Big Sky and she had cut and styled my hair hair the same way reliably for years. I am very particular and was beyond nervous about having to start over with a new stylist. Not only is Kaleo delightful, but she duplicated exactly what I'd had before and exactly what I wanted! I went to Denyse to have my hair cut and let me tell you she is awesome! She was very personable and kind. Being that it's been so hot she offered water and shared her love of Maui. I am a daughter of an owner and operator of a hair salon and worked in one as well so I know what it takes to do the job, she was flawless. One of those places that is so good, you almost want to keep it a secret to yourself! I love this little salon. The staff has the aloha spirit, and 5 star expert skills. The rates are competitive and the best value for the money in Lahaina. I always see Janet, she is a master when it comes to colors and cuts. However, I have witnessed many of Kaleo's clients while sitting next to them, and I would highly recommend her as well. Janet truly cares about client satisfaction, and she listens to what you want. They accept walk-in's and I have squeezed in a few times, but I would recommend calling ahead because trust me, it is worth it to get an appointment with one of these gems. Amazing Haircut with Exceptional Staff I came to this salon expecting a decent haircut, but what I got was a memorable experience. These ladies make something as mundane as a haircut become the highlight of your day. They were very kind and had the perfect amount of energy to make me a customer for life. Now, I look good. I used to be a client of Jonathan Antin - so if you know colorists - you know I'm used to the very best in the business. Two weeks ago I called to make an appointment that day because my husband was coming home early and so I could go out without the kids. I was in desperate need of a trim and regrowth coverage. I'm new to the area and don't know anyone for recommendations so of course I went off of yelp and proximity. I was so thankful that I was squeezed in that day in the evening to get my hair done. I haven't left a review yet because I know that business is feeding someone's family but I hope that this creates a better experience for future customers. I was asked to come in 30 mins earlier than the set appointment which was fine I also asked for the owner because she has such GREAT reviews. Unfortunately the owner wasn't able to fit me in but one of her workers could, I asked if she was as good as her because I had read good things, I waited while she finished up the gentleman before me which ran 10 mins over and I didn't mind at all, the hairdresser there was lovely. I told her I need my roots covered and I only want a trim off the ends maybe 1.5 inches. I was completely rushed she slapped the dye on my hair dripping it on my face over my eyelid and down my cheek and even after wiping it - it left a faint stain for a few days. She was very rushed and didn't cover all of my smaller hairs at the front of my hair lien as all other hair dressers do. When she was washing my hair she asked me again how I wanted my hair cut and I said only a freshen up trim. She took off SO MUCH LENGTH! She asked me if I wanted layers and I already had long layers as that's the style I prefer and she chopped them super short and told me I "only had layers this long" well um YEAH!!! Because that's what I wanted!!! I had sooo much hair cut off and about 4 inches off the length in addition to the layers, I could see she was rushed so I told her not to bother blow drying or styling my hair as she has cleaned and hurried to pack up the salon while I was processing my color as well as made a personal call to her friend to explain she had taken a later client so she'd be around soon. I paid $125 for this!!!!! for root touch up and a hair cut (I made CLEAR expectations about several times) and I left with wet hair. I ran home and styled it myself sad that I had dye stain on me FACE and a hair cut I made clear communication about and showed her 2 photos of; I couldn't believe my experience. Before the appointment I was so thankful that I had been squeezed in and accommodated that day but after I wish they had said no rather than make me feel rushed and uncared for. I won't be recommending this place, the lady is skilled YES - but the service and customer care was not there at all - and I believe it matters more than anything, what's the point of asking your client what they want if you're going to go ahead and do something else anyway? read more

I usually let my hair grow and donate every 2 years, but now my hair grows slower and it really needed a style. So I'm on vacation and have time for this luxury. I'm so happy I went here.
