The doors were already locked and an older blonde woman promptly waved through the door that they were closed. She came over to the door when we continued to stand there, and we pleaded to her to let us run in and buy a coffee mug. She told us no, and that they were closed. We told her the website said they were open until 7PM and she responded that it was "an old website," and "we close at 6" (It was still at least 3 minutes until 6PM). She rolled her eyes, huffed and puffed, and unlocked the door to let us in. As we were greatly thanking her, she sarcastically responded, "I would love to get home and I know my family would absolutely love for me to come home too." While we are greatly appreciative that she let us buy the coffee mug (We were in and out of the store within 45 seconds), we did not appreciate the unnecessary attitude. We will not be returning and if you plan to visit this store, ensure they are open beforehand, to avoid being disappointed and encountering rude employees.

Main st is known for getting all of the tourists window shopping. Heck, I even bought a tee shirt at one of the stores on Main St as an impulse buy. Our friends bought a beautiful blanket with the Montauk emblem on it. When we went to Gosman's Doc and stepped inside Kai-Kai? I saw the "same" blanket but was marked down 50% off! 50% is a big savings! Lets do a test. You have twenty bucks in your pocket. Now give to me $10 bucks. Sucks right? Keep your money my Yelp friend! You're taking the time and reading my reviews, I should be able to pass my savings on to you. This store I also need to point out, has quality clothing. Its been my favorite store to shop at for over 25 years. We've purchased items for every member of my family with no complaints. Oh and that 50% blanket? I couldn't let it go! When I fly to Disney in a few weeks, I'll be wrapped up, snug as a bug in a rug. Go Montauk! :D

Anybody who's ever needed surfboard repair knows how impossible it is to find a guy who will…read moredo a decent job, on time, for a reasonable price, etc. it's usually less fuss just to buy a new board than to deal with your old favorite board being taken hostage for the next four seasons by some mysterious dude who has three other day jobs in addition to ding repair and who won't return your calls (or your cash). Having experienced this, I hadn't bothered for about ten years and therefore have a backyard full of damaged boards. Island Surf evidently has some magical elf chained in their basement who is the last known craftsman in this trade. I took in a board with dings on the rails, one torn-out fin box (helpful reminder: don't drive over your board with your car), and two crushed "wings" on the swallowtail. Bottom line, this thing would sink in a puddle of spilled milk. The board was returned one day late (one day!! making it the most prompt repair in the history of this industry); the entire tail was rebuilt, looking literally better than new (I didn't ask for this btw); all finboxes replaced (also a bonus). It's no stretch to say it's better than new. The capper was when they handed the board back to me with complimentary wax, fin key, etc. Being a bad surfer, I'm kind of a connoisseur of repair for damaged boards. I can honestly say these guys do the best job I've seen in the US, Asia, etc.
