We hired Grant Johnson based on a recommendation from a friend who had a pool built several years ago. Unfortunately, we had issues not only during the process of having the pool installed, but we have continued to have issues with the equipment. Although the pool itself appears to be solid, the installation took more than four months, instead of the initial time estimate given to us. Although there was rain during the time of the installation, it was obvious that Grant had contracted with other people and left our backyard as a mud hole for three months. The workers ran over our newly built fence (in fairness, Grant did pay approximately half of the repair costs). The final price was almost double the initial estimate, as Grant forgot to include the equipment in the estimate. This added an additional $5,400 to our quoted cost. We found out that none of the concrete was included in the estimate either (and this was our fault since we did not ensure at least a few feet of cement were included) but we were presented with a bill for $12,000.00 we were not expecting. Most aggregiously, once the pool was finally completed, Grant never returned to show us how to work the equipment, and left us absolutely none of the warranty information. Grant then stopped answering our phone calls. Within six months we had to pay another pool service to repair some of the equipment, and are now having to replace the whole saltwater system which will cost more than $1,000. Grant also came back to us months after he finally finished the installation and told us we owed him another installment, which was incorrect. We had to go back in our records to prove to him that we had paid the entire amount. Overall, we did not have a pleasant experience with Island Pools. read more
