I did not even ask for a quote he just showed up at my house was in my home about 30 min. and secretly recorded our conversation so he could threaten me into use his roofing co . he was going to report me to my insurance co because i told him i was not going to pay a $1000. dollar deductible twice . He must have mention insurance fraud at least 20 times while recording me. He also said he would black ball me so no one would work for me. I did not even have a contract with this person. everything i am saying is in a 4 ft message he wrote me, just like a 12 year old I also called the board of contractors , he is not licensed with them. I also reported him to my Insurance Co. I read his messages he sent me to them , they made a notes of our conversations an put it in my file.

I hired…read morethis company to move everything out and into a storage unit that was about 5 miles from my house. They did show up on time, but were so careless in how they handled my belongings. One guy had my very expensive nightstand with a marble top on the dolly with my brand new microwave on top of the nightstand and both fell off the dolly onto the concrete, breaking the edge off my marble top and cracking it in another place. I didn't know the extent of the damage until I got it back in my house when I moved back in. The workers are very friendly, but talk so much and this company charges by the hour. I felt like maybe it was on purpose. I timed it once and one guy talked for 20 solid minutes, doing nothing. A week Iater it was time to move back in the house, and I hired the same company. I rented a Uhaul truck for 5 hours, which I had at the storage unit by 10a.m. I hired this company for 3 guys at 3 hours, (beginning at 10 a.m.) which was more than enough time to get everything out of my unit and back to my house five miles away. One guy showed up at 10a.m. and tried to move things by himself while waiting on his no-show helpers. He broke the leg off my washing machine. Around noon 3 other guys showed up to help. (2 hours late) One of the guys just talked the entire time. I told them I had to have the UHaul back by 2 and they weren't phased. I finally just started unloading things myself. I was an hour late getting my Uhaul back because of them. I later texted the owner, Jay, who informed me that I should be happy because instead of 3 employees, he sent 4 (even though they were 2 hours late and having the 4th guy did not speed things up at all because of all the talking). He didn't care that my Uhaul was late and I had to pay extra. Regarding the washing machine leg that was broken, he told me that I could order it on Amazon and he'd have someone come fix it. Um no. I do not want anyone affiliated with your company back in my house. I have all messages that I am willing to share so that others can see his response. Also, when I asked if I was going to get some money taken off my bill for my trouble and broken items, he said no and that I should be lucky he didn't charge me the "actual" weekend rate. So BEWARE! There is an additional weekend rate that you will NOT be told about up front. I suggest paying with a CashApp card so that he can't just tack on money to your card like he did mine. He will not care that he cost you extra money in any way.

They came to our home, discussed our vision, and drafted a detailed contract outlining everything we wanted completed. Unfortunately, while the project had some great moments, it also came with significant frustrations. Pros 1. Kristen, the designer, is exceptional. Kristen is the true star of this company. She helped us make decisions on tile, paint, and fixtures and made sure everything would look cohesive in the end. Even though it wasn't her job to manage the entire project, she was available at every stage and her attention to detail kept us from giving up mid-project. She is meticulous, professional, and truly gifted at what she does. 2. Their tile installation is excellent. Kelty is a tile company--and that part of the project shows it. The tile work in our kitchen turned out beautifully. Their tile team was polite, professional, and clearly skilled. 3. Their primary painter/prep worker is incredible. The young woman who handled nearly all of the painting and prep work was outstanding. She worked hard, was thorough, and clearly cares about the quality of her work. Whatever she's being paid, it isn't enough. I would personally give her a reference if she ever needed one. Cons 1. Avoid their electrical services. If you need electrical work, I strongly recommend handling that separately. The electrician they used did not seem to know what he was doing. He had us purchase two different light fixtures because he said the first "wouldn't work." He ultimately left without installing the second fixture, saying it couldn't be done. Our son came home and installed it in thirty minutes. 2. "Full project management" was not delivered. One of the major reasons we chose Kelty was their promise to manage the entire project from beginning to end. That simply did not happen. The project manager was rarely on site, communication was inconsistent, and progress only happened when my husband repeatedly reached out for updates. We even had to create written task lists ourselves just to get certain work completed. Final Thoughts The biggest indicator of whether a company did a great job is whether you would hire them again. We have another home project coming up, and unfortunately, we will be looking for a different company. Kelty shines in design and tile, and they have some wonderful people on their team--but the lack of true project management and poor subcontracted electrical work were too significant to overlook.

I was given the SYP sales pitch also. The price of the white oak was slightly higher than some suppliers but I decided to buy from SYP since they were helpful and seemed honest. When I said I wanted 500 feet of the Oak Jason responded giving me quotes of everything but white oak. He responded with red oak then character grade white oak at 5.25 a sq:/ft which is substantially higher than most online suppliers. Finally he said he cannot honor his original quote and never responded back with a new quote and shipping.
