There are certain things I regret in life and coming here was one of them. Perhaps this is an outdated review and this is by no means meant to rate the current and new orthodontists at this location. My issue had been with Dr. Parker. Before yelp existed, I was a young adult and went to this location. I had missed a number of appointments. My mom didn't have a driver's license and my dad wasn't in the picture. It didn't matter to Doctor Parker, though. He insulted and yelled at me calling me stupid for even coming to his office because I missed my appointments. He was incredibly rude and disrespectful. I don't think I went back. I dealt with my imperfect teeth in shame and guilt because I couldn't bear to come back into his office again. So much for having any bedside manner. What a terrible way to treat your patients. He called my mom to apologize saying he was too hard on me. Professionalism means not lashing out, yelling and insulting people, especially your patients. Even if this review is dated, his rudeness stayed with me even several years later. I never forgot this. read more

I started seeing Dr. Wang three years ago, and finally finished my treatment a few months back! It's been a long and arduous journey, but her care and patience with you will make the process easier on you. I'll be honest- I wasn't the perfect patient. I always forgot to wear my rubber bands at night. However, Dr. Wang would always be patient with me, and told me nicely that I needed to wear them or my procedure will take longer (amongst many other issues that may arise). The office has always been extremely caring, and were very informative on what they were doing to your teeth throughout the procedure. They were also extremely transparent with how much longer my treatment was going to take. Lastly, after finishing up my treatment, the office rewarded me with a bottle of apple cider, which was a nice surprise! Thanks for everything. Now I can smile more confidently :) read more

There aren't enough stars for this place! Dr. Parker is super nice, and he really knows what he is doing! My son got his braces in 2009 and had the taken off earlier this year. Dr. Parker is still seeing my son periodically to make sure his retainers are working properly. We all know that getting braces is costly and dental insurances doesn't cover very much, at least mine didn't....Dr. Parker worked out a payment plan that really worked for us, making it affordable, which was awesome. What? I need braces? Noooooo! When I found out that I needed braces to fix a jaw problem, I was terrified. I have to have those suckers on for two whole years. That's a long time. Considering how much I love my smile already, why do I need to have braces? I should've taken more calcium pills when I was little. When I walked into Dr. Parker's office, I was surprise of how nice everyone was. Although I felt a bit pressured to get braces, Dr. Parker seem very experienced at what he does. He makes sure that he does a good job and that everything is in the right place. Dr. Sears is really good also. He has a very upbeat attitude and makes your experience relaxing. He is also very hot! =) Sometimes the assistants makes mistakes, but Dr. Parker and Dr. Sears catches them before they work on you. There is one assistant who is afraid to speak up when she doesn't know something. I get very afraid when she is around. The assistant I really like is Ruby. She is very nice and tries her best not to cause you any pain. When she is unsure of something, she always ask Dr. Parker or Dr. Sears first before continuing. I will update this review again when I have my braces off. Hopefully it'll be a five star. Until then, I will be a brace face (but a very cute one!). read more

If you're an adult I don't recommend coming here because you will be treated like a child. Maybe they are just used to dealing with children so they don't know how to act around adults. I called in to make an appointment describing to the lady that I'm experiencing tmj and would like to know if I could come in for a new retainer that is more padded to help with the tmj. Instead of telling me that they can't help me over the phone, she sets me up with an appointment. I take time off of work to go to this appointment, go through all the preprocessing, then the doc finally shows up. Instead of pulling up a chair and asking me how she can help me. She just bends over so her head is level with mine since I'm sitting in a chair, teepees her hands, and continues to talk to me like I'm a 12 year old clueless kid. I explain to her that I'm experiencing tmj and would like a new retainer or something that can help manage it. She out right just tells me that she can't help me and asks who my dentist is because I don't need a new retainer I need a mouth guard. Ok lady, you should really stop bending over and teepeeing your hands like someone with a ego problem. You can also stop repeating yourself like I cannot comprehend you the first time. I'm just flabbergasted at your demeanor so I'm speechless and can't wait to gtfo of your office. What I wanted to say was your assistant should have just said this over the phone and saved me from needing to meet you and the most uncomfortable experience I've ever had with a professional. What an amazing experience. The office is so easy to locate because it's right on the corner. I felt really comfortable as they were taking great precautions with COVID. The office is so clean and beautifully decorated. The staff is amazingly nice and funny. So warm and welcoming. So five years after my braces, my permanent retainer breaks....since I'm not trying to live that metal mouth life again - and getting told by my former orthodontist that a new retainer will run me $600 (!). I call Island Braces and quickly get an appointment. Dr. Wang was so sweet and gentle. I'm getting used to that small town Alameda life and this office definitely has that feel to it (in a good way!) They removed the old retainer, took xrays, mold for my retainer and had me good to go for $250. I just got fitted today and Dr. Wang didn't let me leave until the retainer fit and was comfortable, they even set up a follow up in two months to make sure everything's okay. While I hope not to go the braces route again, I was very happy to be a patient here....now let's hope nothing happens to this retainer :) read more

Dr. Vicki Wang, DDS, is a seasoned orthodontist with Ivy League training who is nice as she is smart, which is a welcome combination of traits. I felt cared for personally as well as medically. Her practice location is conveniently located in Alameda (with partner sites that you can also go to in Oakland) in a quaint residential setting that is clean and safe. Her office staff is family-friendly and fun to interact with. With time, we all got to know each other and bonded nicely such that (you may laugh) I was a bit sad to end treatment. The end result was a beautiful smile with a nice set of pearly teeth that delighted me. Unfortunately for myself, I had to have multiple orthodontists due to relocating plus injuries and Dr. Wang has been far away the best. I feel very fortunate to have found her. Other family members and friends come here, and they are equally pleased with how they were treated and impressed with her knowledge and skill. She does tend to have a gentle touch about her so I am at ease and looking forward to sending my children there when they grow older. My heartfelt thanks to Dr. Wang and her staff! read more

Dr. Wang was my sister and I's orthodontist for over 4 YEARS! She is a very kind and efficient doctor. My mother loves her! She schedules appointments LITERALLY the next day when we call in (whether it be a new retainer or braces concern). We came to this clinic because other ortho offices were either too crowded or inconvenient when it comes to appointments. I took off my braces 2 years ago and my sister just got hers taken off today! I truly dislike the formalities we have to take when it comes to medical and dental stuff. I lost my essix retainer, however I have impressions of my teeth when my braces were taken off. I know for a fact essix retainers can be crafted from using those impressions. All i wanted from this place was to make a set of new retainers...that all I needed, and id be willing to pay out of pocket. However they insisted that I need to have an examination and impressions made... WHY would you make impressions of my teeth and make retainers out of them, AFTER my teeth have shifted??? when I have a beautiful copy of my impressions post braces that can be used to put my teeth back in place. I was willing to pay money for a service, but for them it wasn't good enough. read more

This was our first time ever visiting an Orthodontist so we had no idea what to expect or even what to do. I was pleasantly surprised at how well run this place is. Fast, friendly, clean and professional was my first impression. I love how Dr. Wang took the time to explain everything to us and had a huge screen so that my daughter and I could visually see what work needed to be done, how it needed to be done and everything else in between. We were just there for a free consultation but was able to get my daughters braces done right at the same time and it only took an hour. The lady named Maria, was the one who put the braces on my daughter and she did an excellent job with her communication with us. She did a great job showing and explaining everything, including the aftercare. The receptionist was amazing too... This place is truly wonderful and I highly recommend everyone to go here. Great management, well organized, awesome communication.... I couldn't not have asked for a better experience. So, you're 40 and your dentist says you need braces. Here's my rec: go see Barry Parker as I did. Tell him that you want them off asap because let's face it, how many good years do you have left? At least that's what I told him. Off within 18 months and my teeth were better than expected! His prices are competitive, and he takes insurance. Eight years later and my teeth look better than the rest of me! Seriously, if you want good work, go see Dr. Parker or Dr. Sears. Both are experts with years of experience to bring to your smile. The office is staffed with attendants who know their jobs, quickly address your questions, and often are able to squeeze you into that time slot you crave. This is a special Alameda family-owned business with special people who contribute to our community by donating generously to local sports, shelters, and schools. Say "Dr. Parker" and any Alamedan will tell you that he's great! I cannot speak to the reviewer with the autistic child, but I can vouch that my daughter has an anxiety disorder and Parker and staff always did their best to assure her comfort so that she enjoyed her brief visits there. My retainer broke one day while I was on a business trip. I called up Dr. Parker's staff and they reassured me that they could resolve the issue.
