I am glad I was encouraged to return to Island Nails. Specifically, I want to acknowledge the improvement in service. I can easily recommend a basic pedicure and believe other services will be done as well. I received a well done professional pedicure by Paul. I was able to have short notice appointment. My pedicure was a basic, gentle and complete. I was not rushed to pick color and was given extra time to sit in the chair for my polish to dry. I did not feel pressure to get more than a basic pedicure. The shop and bathroom were clean and brightly painted. A rolling video of beaches rather than noisy television was an extra nice touch. Reason for 1 star reduction. Paul was professional and completed my pedicures as well as allowed me to remain in the chair for my polish to dry. However, he was not available to help me put on my shoes or take my payment. Additionally, the "massage" was incomplete and the hot towel was simply used to wipe off the lotion. Please note this may indeed be an accurate level of service for a basic pedicure-just different than my precious experiences. The lack of upselling was nice, however I was not totally certain what was included. Having the services card would have been helpful and may have resulted in a five star review. Went today and while getting my eyebrows done while the tech was waxing the state inspector came in and three techs ran out the back door!!' Including the one waxing my eyebrows. Never in my 32 years of visiting nail shops have I experienced this mess. They are hiring unlicensed technicians!! This is not ok!!! Stay all the way away read more

If you're looking for a good nail salon in KI, look no further. Island Nails does a great job, and the staff are very kind and do everything to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. The only negative is that although they say they take walk ins, I've seen walk ins turned away quite a few times when they've come in. It isn't a huge salon, so I'm sure they do their best to accommodate but are limited by available mani/pedicurists. So my best recommendation is to call a few days ahead if you're thinking you'll need care before the weekend/during the weekend. I've been taken care of by various techs and have nothing but compliments for all of them. I don't feel rushed, they always offer me a beverage, they take care and time to help me choose my color or switch from massage chair to mani seat, and they have a great attention to detail. The place was clean and fresh. You can tell they've remodeled recently. Bon was very accommodating and professional. Even asked me if I wanted a soda or water. They missed my initial phone call and sent me a text which was very convenient. I was impressed with my powder dip manicure. Will be coming back whenever I'm in the area! read more

This nail solan is very unprofessional!! I made an appointment for my sister, mom, and I to get pedicures and manicures a week in advance. When we got there for our appointment nobody greeted us at the door. Then they asked what are getting done I explained we made an appointment and the man told me he didn't have time to do everything. I specifically asked him on the phone when making the appointment if everything could be done and he agreed yes. So when we get there and all of sudden he can't I was frustrated. The new Island Nails (formerly Nautical Nails) is under new management. The salon has been redone with all new stations and pedicure chairs. The polishes are all new. Julie and her team are terrific. They are very creative. I come in with pictures and ask if they can do different designs and the answer is always yes. I highly recommend the new team at Island Nails!! read more

I love coming here to get my nails done with my mom. The owners are very cute and always remember our names and what we had talked about at our previous appointment. They have a great selection of colors and work hard to make sure you find the one you want and that you are happy with your selection. I recommend making an appointment, but when we walk-in they always accommodate us. The conversation is always great. The gel manicures are well done and have a nice finish. My regular pedicures last forever and are very well done. I come here regularly to get my toes done and I'm happy with them every time! read more

I made an appointment 20 minutes before going. I was 5 minutes late having to take an important phone call and she watched me the whole time and called me repeatedly to see if i was still coming. No one else was in there. I went inside and she started yelling at me telling me i was late so i left as she was screaming at me. YOU OWN A BUSINESS? Came here to get my nails done on the way to the beach and I had a great experience! The nail tech who worked on my mani pedi was named Mindy and she was really nice and helpful. She was attentive in helping me choose a polish color and kept a conversation going which was nice. The salon is small but cute and I'd definitely come back! read more

Would give zero stars if I could. Got my nails done yesterday for my wedding (which is tomorrow), and they already look disgusting. Horrible job. I had a French manicure with acrylics and the white tips look dirty. She only applied one coat of polish, and when I asked her to add another, she told me one coat was fine. Having had French polish before, I have never had this issue. I would absolutely not recommend if you want quality service. Taking white out to my finger tips would have looked better. read more

I HAD been a faithful every other week customer for over five years. I would get a fill and deluxe pedicure every time and certainly tip well over 20% at EVERY visit. The service began to go down in June of last year 6/16 with repeated times of chipping and smudging within days (gel manicures should not smudge) - rude service - never a thank you or feeling of appreciation for my business. Polishes were often old and thick and the cleanliness of the salon was becoming questionable. I continued my biweekly appointments due to the fact that the location was within minutes of my home and hopes that the service would get better. I happened to go to another salon in Annapolis in 1/17 and realized how much better the service, professionalism and experience was. I have not returned to Nautical Nails and do not intend to do so. The managers of this salon have no appreciation for business or overall professionalism. Above all the sanitation is sub par and the experience feels like someone's garage. It is disappointing that trying to be loyal and support a local business is not appreciated. You can see from reviews on various sites that lately the service has declined and there are many FORMER customers. Save your money and go where your business is appreciated. read more
