I got a mani and a pedi. It was the worst one I have ever gotten. It hurts me even to write this because Julie is friendly. She didn't cut my toes or fingernails. She didn't assess the areas that need extra TLC due to hardened skin. The foot massage was about 30 seconds too. And my nails... She didn't use cream even once. I believe the mani service is supposed to come with lotion and "massage." I didn't get either. I got a clear coat on my nails, and some areas are missing application. My fingernails look awful, not only from the splotchy paint but since dried skin still peppers the area. I tipped Julie 20% because she was nice, and I genuinely think she doesn't realize how bad this service is. I am struggling to accept that I just paid $78 for this experience. I am so upset. I will book an appointment somewhere else and hope they can give me the spa treatment I should have received and paid for. read more

I made an appointment for pedicure this afternoon. Then they booked me for manicure. When I arrived they were telling me they can not do the service because I was 5-10 minutes late. With an empty apology they confirmed they have no appointment available for pedicure today.I honestly think they are providing bad service to clients. How can they refuse a customer for being 5-10 minutes late? I won't be returning to their business for sure. read more

Ambience is great, as are most Aveda salons I've been. I love the warm, welcoming decor and the service was good. Everyone was friendly, not overly excited/welcoming but I felt comfortable and was acknowledged vey quickly. The person that did my mani/pedi (I think it was Sam??) was nice. Did a good job. I really liked that she would talk if I talked but didn't make me feel like I had to carry convo the whole time. I'm there to relax! The reason I gave 3 stars was #1: selection of colors is MINIMAL. Like 6-8 very small shelves and that's it. Half of those were gel colors, so very limited. #2: price was way over what you get, and not what yelp advertises. $42 for pedi, $28 for mani (yelp says $35 and $25). I know it's a salon and they are usually more expensive than a typical nail salon, but I still think that was a little pricey for this joint. read more

Update: after almost 2 years Mashal sent me a compliment stating they have a new HUGE parking lot and double the space. I think thats great! The last place was fine, I was merely stating before that the place was small for reference. Im not stupid and can definitely sense the sarcasm. I don't find the comment professional. Clearly this person has been holding onto some anger for quite some time. The young man at the front desk is so unfriendly. That is why this place looses a star. Would it kill him to smile? Would it kill him to be nice? The place is a small converted house that is beautiful on the inside. My hair looked amazing afterwards but I'm sure that the express keratin really lasts 4-6 weeks. As a dude, I didn't know salons could be this cool. This place is just as much a place for men as it is for women. I've never heard a bad thing about Salon Atelier. The staff is full of gorgeous, highly talented, warm and charismatic women, who truly care that you leave with having the best hair, spa or beauty experience you've ever had. People come from far away to go here! It's an experience as opposed to just a cut or style. Inside the shop is decorated so well. It's very cozy and inviting and always worth the trip. This Salon is at the top of their game and they have been for years. The employees seem to love it too. It's not just he customers. The owners clearly know what they are doing in choosing each employee carefully and promoting a healthy working environment. I had a facial here. The facial itself is ok, but could be better with this price. The good part is the signature facial includes not only facial but also foot, hand and sculpt massage. The downside is, she didn't wipe out the treatment on my limbs and left a lot of white residue on my skin. There is construction going on around the place so it's a little noisy. The entrance is very messy, when I open the door, I thought I walked into their storage! and the welcome table is very unorganized with magazines all over the place; there is no place for my tea! Overall, the facial service is good, worthy of four stars, but too many details are not executed well enough and the environment could be improved, so down to three stars. read more

My experience with Sydney Youell was wonderful. First, the atmosphere in the salon is very relaxing; the layout allows for a private experience without a lot of distracting noise. The products they use & sell are not only high-end but make your hair look, feel & smell amazing. The only problem you will have is deciding which ones to take home! Last but not least, Sydney did a beautiful job on my hair with great attention to detail. I had the following services: root touch-up, shadowing or low lights (they are currently running a special on this service) for fall and a hair cut. My hair is long and thick and she was able to handle it with absolutely no problem. I really appreciate all the time she spent on me and how she listened and successfully executed all my hair desires :) In addition, Sydney's manager and the gentleman handling the front area were very pleasant. I'm a fan of this salon, for sure. I found Salon Atelier as I was looking for a place to take care of my hair and makeup as well as my bridesmaids' hair for my upcoming wedding on Kent Island. I visited the first time to have my hair colored with Sydney. She's awesome - easy to talk to, definitely makes you feel comfortable, and does a GREAT job. Since I had a great first experience, I decided to set up a hair and makeup trial for my wedding. Sam recolored my hair and then got to work on my wedding makeup trial. She did a wonderful job and definitely delivered what I was looking for! Later on, Syd and I chatted about my wedding hairstyle, she got to work, and I was sold... she did a great job yet again. Each time I've been here I've had a good time and felt completely comfortable. Beyond that, I am very confident in their work and you can tell they love what they do. I'm excited to bring my girls in on my wedding day -- I'm sure it will be a very relaxing way to start a stressful day! read more

A friend and I made appointments to both get "creative colors" at Salon Atelier today. I wanted lavender and she wanted teal. First of all let me say that I never feel comfortable in salons. I don't know why- I just have a hard time finding stylists that I feel comfortable around. I love Salon Atelier. The whole staff makes you feel welcomed- not just the stylist who takes care of you. My hair turned out beautifully. My stylist, Sydney, helped me figure out that I didn't want my hair lightened and colored to the roots because it would be too much for me to maintain and would look a little harsher than I wanted growing out. What she gave me blends well with my natural color(brown), but is still beautiful and gives me room to do more as I wish it. My friend's hair was a bit darker and did not lighten as much as it needed to in the time we had, so although her stylist (Evelyn, who is a total sweetheart) had to move to another appointment, another staff member volunteered to finish my friend's hair since she could not come back in the following week. After a bit more lightening and color, it turned out SO beautifully! It has dimension and beautiful color and she looks like a mermaid! The owner of the establishment checked in regularly to make sure we were getting exactly what we wanted- she was genuinely concerned that we were happy leaving the salon. It was a WONDERFUL experience and I have found my forever salon! I could not recommend a more modern and welcoming salon than Salon Atelier. They are worth expanding your hair budget for! read more

Julia consulted with me prior to my cut and got exactly what I wanted! My hair is curly and she explained all the products that would help me eliminate frizz and that would work for my hair type. This salon offers a wide variety of services. The inside is nice. The stylists are friendly. I took off two stars because I had that unfortunate experience where I showed a picture, but ended up getting a result different from what I expected. My hair takes a long time to grow so I am pretty disappointed. It will likely take me 3 more months just to get my hair back to an ok length. Definitely sad about the experience even though it looked ok after a style. I can't exactly maintain that style on my own though. Hate when that happens...the search continues. read more

Went to Salon Atelier today for the very first time and I was seen by Jessica. By far the best experience I have ever had in a hair salon...ever! I was greeted in a prompt and friendly manner, checked on, and was taken back right on time for my 11:00am appointment. Jessica listened to my requests and my concerns closely and fully delivered. It's the first time my hair turned out the way I envisioned it! Highly recommend!!! Jessica talked me through the whole cut, told me how and why she was doing certain things to my hair, and even found time to give me a curling tutorial..she was so great! Just had a glorified polish change - not a signature pedicure . The nail tech was super nice but this place is definitely not a spa. They didn't offer any water or tea when I got there. They told me to have a seat when I got there , but where ? I awkwardly perched on a stool at a bar hight table. While I was get my "pedicure" and employee decided it was time to make a phone call on her cell phone . Then put it on speaker phone !!! Neither I nor my nail tech could believe it ! No music, no vibrating chair , no aroma scents , no hot rock message , nothing special. The girl maybe rubbed my feet for 1 minute each. Was I supposed to tell her to cut my toe nails ??? Shoot I forgot ! Don't get me started on the guy at the front desk . My whole experience last 50 mins from the time I walked in to the time I walked out . 50 minutes too long .
