We absolutely love Dr. Osgood and his assistant Nora. Our two Australian labradoodles have been his patient ever since they were puppies. Our pups are now 4 years old. And Dr. Osgood has done such a terrific job keeping our doodles happy and healthy. Dr. Osgood responds to our texts promptly when our pups have issues. He is very caring and truly loves our dogs. He is wonderful and a very dedicated veterinarian. Having your pups get vaccinated and have their annual physical in the comfort of your own home is really a blessing. They is no waiting at the Vet's office, no potential risks of confronting aggressive dogs, and no potential exposure to sick dogs who may carry some contagious diseases. And best of all, you don't have to deal with some of the rude and unfriendly staff at the Vet's office. Dr. Osgood's assistant Nora is so pleasant and helpful. My husband and I highly recommend Dr. Osgood (Island Mobile Vet) for your pet. He provides an invaluable service and we really appreciate him. Sam and Molly thinks so too! Woof!

Usually use local office vets for health certificates going to mainland but this year, we tried Island Mobile Vet and used them twice for our avid furry companion travelers. Dr Scott is punctual, friendly and quick. His fee for health certificates were more reasonable that local brick and mortar offices and so convenient having him come out to us. Highly recommend.

Dr. Scott is amazing! We've been using him since we moved to Hawaii two years ago. Service is always fast friendly and efficient. He's always very informative and my dog loves him. He's always current on all the med and research and is extremely informed when he answer any questions or concerns we may have. It's so convenient too because he makes house calls and when we first moved we didn't have a car. Highly recommended.

I'm so impressed with the staff at Island Mobile Vet! I lived in Las Vegas and my kitty had to be quarantined on Oahu although I moved to a neighbor island. I found Dr. Scott (Osgood) on google. They were so kind and understanding with all of my questions, went out promptly to the quarantine station and drew kitty's blood to prove he's rabies free so that I can rescue him from "kitty jail" as I call it! Because of Dr. Scott, I'll be able to save about 45 days of his sentence. I appreciate all of the open correspondence and patience they provided to me. I can't wait to get my cat home thanks to Island Mobile Vet. Thanks, Dr. Scott and your wonderful staff.

Mahalo Dr.Scott and Nora! With Aloha: JR, Amanda, Hunter, and Bendi!

You just won't get any better than Island Mobile Vet. Dr.Scott and Nora are the best. My relationship with vet appointments has been forever changed. They are kind, efficient, knowledgable, informative, and excellent communicators. The convenience is unmatched and I simply cannot imagine enduring 2020 without their assistance. They kindly assisted me through the process of saying goodbye to one pet, and shortly after they were there for me as I prepped to move off-island with my other dog. I recommend Island Mobile Vet to loved ones often because it has been such a joy to have found these folks. Thank you 1,000 times Dr.Scott and Nora! My deepest gratitude!

DR. OSGOOD IS THE BEST!!!!! Super friendly and knowledgeable, this is my first time to have a 7 weeks border collie boy, and he also happened to be a runt, so he is very tiny, I was soo worry to have him before he reaches his 12 week, and Dr. Osgood taught me a lot of things that I should be aware of for my little sheepdog, like I should keep him away from ivermectin (HeartGard) that could be toxic for sheepdogs. I also have a lot of concern about having a runt, and Dr. Osgood answered all my questions, and instead the old school way of writing down the details of diagnosis like other doctors would do and nobody could possibly read it, Dr. Osgood sends out email and invoice that has all the details nice and clear and it's easier to keep it in record. My little boy and I are so lucky to have Dr. O around~Big Mahalo!!!

I am looking for a primary vet for my dog, Na'Cho. The main thing I need assistance with is, teeth cleaning, he won't allow me to brush them. Do you do deep cleaning? Mahalo~

Aloha ! Unfortunately as a housecall only practice we are a non-surgical practice . And dental cleanings are under a aesthetic and this surgical :(

How much are wellness check ups for cats/kittens? Also how much is spaying/neutering?

Aloha We are a housecall practice - so there is no surgery . Exams vary 70-95 depending on area with vaccines etc additional . Hope this helps . If interested please…

A recent example really bothered me. During my dog's visit, the vet specifically told me she would NOT recommend removing his canine teeth. A week later, I received the estimate by text and, sure enough, canine tooth extractions were included as recommended treatment... at $400 a tooth! I obviously want the best care for my dogs and don't mind paying for things they actually need. But lately, it feels like the vets are being pushed to sell more services, almost like the main job of a veterinarian has shifted to something more like a used car salesperson; from providing proper and reasonable care to increasing commissions and gross profit. Really disappointing because King Street used to be a clinic I trusted completely.

We had to switch vets once before finding this clinic, and ever since then, we've truly trusted and appreciated the care they provide. Everyone at the front is always so friendly and welcoming, and they always play with our husky! I totally understand that huskies love everyone, but not everyone loves a husky's playfulness, so I really appreciate the attention and love they show our dog. One time, our husky injured her paw with a deep cut that needed after-hours care, and I am forever grateful that Dr. Hsu was available to see her right away. Even though he had already left the office, he was willing to come back for her. I think the care they provide, the heart they put into what they do, and the genuine compassion they have for animals are such important qualities when finding the right vet. We've also utilized their in-house boarding services. At first, we were worried about how our dog would do, but she did more than fine and has loved going back multiple times. The boarding process is also very seamless. They take care of her daily meals, provide 3-4 walks a day, and if anything ever comes up, they're already a vet clinic, so they can provide professional advice and care right away! I highly, highly recommend their services, knowledge, and care. I will always trust my dog in their hands. 10/10!!

Whether it be for tooth trimming throughout Cinnamon's life, treatment for URI's, or end of life services, Kalihi Pet Clinic has been my go to clinic for compassionate and timely care. They modestly acknowledge that they don't specialize in exotics care, but they always try their best to treat even their smallest clients. And if the problem is ever too big for them to treat, they refer out to a clinic that can. I have to give this clinic props for the kind and professional care they give. All their staff has been so respectful to my rats, even if they didn't expect to see rats in their clinic. Many of their vet techs have had pet rats in the past, and they're always so happy to see my girls and sneak in a cuddle with them. Not even clinics that claim to specialize in rat care treat them with as much respect and care as this clinic does. My most recent visit to this clinic was for a sad reason. To say goodbye to Oreo and Marshmallow. While I was initially told that I couldn't be present for the euthanasia, in the end they gave me the option to be present which I deeply appreciated. Doctor Obara and staff were all very kind and patient. My girls were able to pass peacefully cuddled together. Doctor gave me plenty of time alone with my girls, and also spent time with me in the room chatting about the ratties' personalities, their quirks, how special they are. It was very comforting and helped me to feel at peace with losing both at once. Thank you Doctor Obara and staff for all your compassionate care! I will keep bringing my girls here. If you end up with more rattie clients, you can blame me, because I recommend you to everyone I know with pet rats.

Our biggest concern is the lack of transparency regarding services and costs. During both visits…read moresince the corporate takeover, my partner and I have noticed that services such as blood draws, cytology exams, and ear cleaning are presented as things the staff are going to do rather than options for us to discuss and approve after being informed of the cost and necessity. We are then presented with the bill afterward. We understand diagnostic testing can be important for our dogs' health, but pet owners should be told what is recommended, why it is necessary, and how much it costs BEFORE services are performed. One example that frustrated us was during our most recent visit with our dog, Maple. Instead of saying, "Would you like us to clean Maple's ears for an additional $30? If not, we'd be happy to show you how to properly and safely clean her ears at home," the staff simply told us, "We're going to take her on back and clean her ears for you." At no point was the additional $30 disclosed beforehand. We only discovered the charge when reviewing the invoice. Some people might say, "Relax, it's only $30," but that isn't the point. It's about being charged for services without being informed of the cost or given a choice. It also makes us question whether other recommended services are truly necessary. Another example involves Maple's recurring ear infections. During a previous visit, our former veterinarian examined her ears and said something along the lines of, "It's apparent she has an ear infection. I'm going to prescribe this medication." She was prescribed EasOtic, and we appreciated how straightforward and transparent that interaction was. This time, rather than first reviewing her medical history and discussing whether the same medication would be appropriate, the staff quickly swabbed her ear and took the sample out of the room for testing. We were charged an additional $55.50 for the ear cytology, without anyone explaining beforehand why it was recommended, what they were looking for, whether it was necessary in her case, or how much it would cost. I understand ear cytology can provide useful information about an infection and guide treatment. However, we were never given the opportunity to discuss the test or its cost before it was performed. Based on Maple's previous diagnosis and treatment, I strongly suspect she would have received the same medication regardless, but nobody explained how the results would affect her treatment plan. If the test was important to confirm the diagnosis or determine the appropriate medication, that should have been explained to us before proceeding. The issue isn't that we are unwilling to pay for our dogs' care. It's that we should have the opportunity to make informed decisions. Had we known the ear cleaning would cost $30, we could have chosen to pay for it or learned how to do it safely at home. Likewise, we could have discussed the necessity and cost of the $55.50 cytology beforehand. Instead, these charges appeared on an already nearly $400 bill without being disclosed in advance. Before the corporate takeover, our two regular veterinarians were always transparent about treatments, medications, and services. They explained what our dogs needed and communicated clearly with us. Since the change, the experience has felt very different. From what we understand, 13 doctors have left and only two remain, and the staff and overall atmosphere have noticeably changed. The staff and veterinarians have also come across as somewhat judgmental, making it less comfortable to ask questions or discuss treatment options. I also asked twice for a packet explaining each prescribed medication and what it was for. Instead, I received only the invoice and receipt, with no explanations of the medications. If you're considering bringing your pet to Pet Vet at Salt Lake Shopping Center, or continuing as an existing client, I strongly encourage you to advocate for yourself and your pet. Ask what each test or service is for, whether it is necessary, how the results will affect treatment, and how much it costs BEFORE anything is performed. Don't feel pressured or guilt-tripped into agreeing to services without having your questions answered. You deserve to understand what you're agreeing to and what you're paying for. What makes this especially disappointing is that my dogs have been coming here since they were puppies, and the hospital is only four minutes from our home. We genuinely wanted to continue coming here because of the convenience and the trust we had built over the years. However, after two disappointing visits since the corporate takeover, we are seriously considering switching veterinarians. A good veterinary hospital should prioritize our pets' health while respecting owners through honest communication, upfront pricing, and informed consent. It's incredibly disappointing to see a place we trusted for years change so much.

They offered a second option of a bit over $2,000 where we would be able to take him home sooner and watch for symptoms/improvement, which we decided to take considering it was a holiday weekend and our regular vet wasn't open. We had to pay upfront, which I understand to be common with vet emergencies, but they were still pushy and tried to sell us pet insurance. The medication they prescribed seemed to somewhat help, but we ended having to have him stay over 2 weeks at his regular vet, where they had to monitor him. Their treatment cost was only just under $2,000 for the entire 2 week stay. Turns out all he needed was a diet change. No major interventions, unlike what VERC had insisted. Our regular vet asked if VERC performed a urinalysis (as they said they should have done before making any moves). We realized they hadn't. I think VERC is obviously a spot to go in desperation, but I would not return. I understand it's a business at the end of the day, but their practices made us uncomfortable. It's clearly a profitable business to get into. No wonder so many vets keep opening up around Oahu. Will remain wary and won't be returning to this one.

I have had several health scares with my animals and the staff at University VCA take a caring and balanced approach of concern and moderation. They will run tests or refer you to a specialist if you want, but won't force or guilt you into spending more than you feel comfortable spending. They have always offered me different courses of treatment based on budgetary needs. I have been into VCA 8-9 times in one month for a variety of reasons for my three pets. (Not including the $80 booster shot which after tax would've made it almost over $600). When they say: "When you are a new pet owner, it's hard to anticipate costs." ***My answer: I called two other highly rated vet hospitals on island after receiving my invoice, the other vet hospitals also confirmed this place was completely over charging me. When they said to me: "Hawaii is a lot more expensive than the mainland for vet care." ***My answer: I have had cats for 10+ years in CA, and now 6+ years in Hawaii, and my mother is an equine vet, there are differences, but not by hundreds of dollars for simple tests. I feel very slighted and that they target new pet owners who don't know a lot (they reached out to me first, I did not reach out to them days after adopting a cat, how did they get my information? It is on me for not doing further research). I don't think the technicians, vets, or front office staff are incompetent, I just don't agree with their service. I won't be going back. Also, there was leftover cat fur on the table when I went into the room, and I understand it does get everywhere, but it didn't seem like the most sterile environment for my cat at that moment.
