[[HIGHLIGHT]]What an amazing staff here at Oahu Vet Clinic! Everybody from front desk, to vet technicians, to the doctors, I could tell the staff really do have the best interest for you and your pet.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]As a guinea pig owner of 3, my very first call here was for an emergency. It's been almost a year and a half since that phone call, but I remember the calmness and promptness of the person I spoke to on the phone.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]She was able to squeeze me in for an a last minute appt with the awesome Dr. Ganzer![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I've spoken to this person on the phone at front desk many times and she's always been caring and helpful each time my Guinea pigs needed to go in, never pushy and always understanding.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It might've been small conversations, but I always remember the relief I had talking to the front desk when in my head, I was worried/stressed out about my sick piggies. I've only brought guinea pigs here, so I can't speak on other pet type experiences, but they've always been so good to my piggies. Dr. Ganzer took really good care of all my piggies and did a great job answering our questions each time and telling us the next steps in our pigs care. I would recommend Oahu Vet and Dr Ganzer to any Guinea pig owner out there. Lastly, the pricing here is so reasonable in my opinion. I've been to many other vet clinics for my Guinea pigs and pet dog, and Oahu Vet has always been the better place to go! With that, they don't skimp out on their care. From beginning to end Oahu Vet has left a lasting impression on my boyfriend and I. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Literally till the end when my old guinea pig passed away, they sent us a grievance card with the cutest little picture of him and signed but most of the staff at the clinic. Also on the day we had to put our guinea pig down, they had a little candle out for us for his passing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's really the smallest gestures like that during our times of grief that ai remember how caring Oahu Vet Clinic is. Thank you to all the staff of Oahu Vet clinic! You guys have left a lasting and wonderful impression on me.

I heard so many good things about Dr. Ganzer that I just had to take my new pup to him. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Everything was great from initial contact, visit and follow up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Dr. Ganzer is so kind, patient and has a nice sense of humor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]He answered my many questions and also gave me a lot of information that I needed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I know that Daniel will be under the best of care here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]All of his associates are so kind, friendly and patient also.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They keep the clinic so clean, bright and welcoming. Parking is no problem since there's some right in front of the clinic and up the ramp the first 5 stalls to the left. Daniel is a rascal pup and loves it here too, he wanted to give Dr. Ganzer kisses. We are very lucky to find a Great Veterinarian and staff that really cares about the animals and their owners.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Everyone at the front was so nice and welcoming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vet tech Yosuke who helped me was amazing. Very sweet and accommodating. Helped me with bringing my cats in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]One of my cats particularly loved Yosuke, and he's very picky with people.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Very happy. Dr. Antonides was great with my cats. I've never seen them so comfortable at the vet. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a great experience and am very happy with Oahu Veterinary Clinic[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    About 8 days of healing.

I am quite sad having to write this review. My dog "Snickers" had been seeing Dr. Ganzer for the past two years. She had her toe amputated on her front right paw, and a small lipoma removed from her back paw by Dr. Ganzer early December. Dr. Ganzer did not schedule a post-op appointment until 8 days later to check the surgery site. Way too long to wait. When we went in for the check up, he was not even going to remove her bandages to look at the surgery site saying"the bandages look good, we can leave them on". I insisted the bandages be removed and was horrified to find that my poor dog had awful secondary infections in both paws. I think the vet was shocked to see this as well and he applied a healing cream with no gloves, and dirty fingernails, on an already infected wound. To make a long story short, I had to take my dog into the vet office daily for cleaning of the wound, rewrapping her paws, and a pain injection daily for two weeks! It was so painful for my dog, not to mention the trauma I endured having to watch her suffer. Dr. Ganzer also made mistakes on both of the medications he sent home with me. The pain medication was under prescribed with the wrong syringe, and the antibiotic given was 14 days short on medication. I refused to let him treat my dog any longer and had another wonderful vet in his office take care of her. I found Dr. Ganzer to be always in a rush, trying to find the fastest way to treat the pet without really thinking about what he was doing. In this climate in Hawaii, any incision needs to be looked at immediately. I know he has other good reviews, but he really let Snickers down and did not do a professional veterinary job with her. It bordered on Veterinary Malpractice. I also contacted the co-owner Dr. Kaya about this issue and requested he phone me. I never received a phone call from him and gave him over 2 weeks to respond. In my opinion Dr. Ganzer requires new protocols that will benefit his animal patients and owners. This situation was totally uncalled for. I will not let him touch my dog again. On a positive note, his office staff are very good as is Dr. Antonides who completed Snickers treatment.

OVC was outstanding in handling the passing of our border collie Maiya. Their attention to detail made her passing easier on our family.

Dr. Kaya, Angel and the rest of the staff were outstanding in the care of our family member. I would highly recommend them to care for your pets.

While going through a molt, her eye was shut and had discharge making it hard for her to see food and water.

Always thankful for fitting us in and Dr. Ganzers care for our chickens. Mahalo staff and Dr Ganzer for giving us peace of mind. Our sweet Mochiko, a silver wyandotte hen has an ongoing eye condition. Dr. Ganzer is very caring and has always pin pointed the problem and prescribed the right medication for her to recover. Were very thankful for his knowledge of birds. After many failed attempts at Feather and Furr, spending hundreds with no results, we are grateful to have found Dr. Ganzer and his awesome kind staff who genuinely care about animals. Mahalo to Oahu Vet Clinic.

They worked with us to save over 500-dollars on our final bill after kitty had a bad neuter reaction. We were training Ned on how to care for him a home if we couldn't afford 3-5 days of hospitalization. We had to request his records several times from a different Dr. but they finally arrived. Last place was fine but they billed me after treatment so I had sticker shock ( usually estimate are first but this time they forgot when I dropped him off early am and I had no clue it would be over 500 for a follow up treatment) I didn't have a choice at pick up.

I have searched for a good Veternary Doctor to take care of my guinea pig and rabbits. Very few on the island, but as soon as I brought my ailing little Guinea "Ringo Star" in, the Dr just seemed to know what he needed. He was upfront with expense, and was confident it was his teeth. I felt very confident also. He said I could bring him later if I wanted, but I asked if he could do it today. I am so happy, I will have my little Ringo for years more! No hidden charges. And no return check up. Thank you OVC

We're from San Francisco and don't have a regular local vet here in Honolulu, so we chose to use Oahu Veterinary Clinic again when Biscuit was under the weather this week. We requested an annual thorough checkup and senior blood panel and Biscuit's attending vet, Dr Antonides, suggested a baseline x-ray which we totally agree. Everything went smooth and was so fast. The aches and pains of an aging dog is all it was as x-rays were clear. Waiting on results of the labwork.

Maddie made it to 14 years because of Dr Ganzer. Hopefully she makes another year!

Ask the Community - Oahu Veterinary Clinic

How much would it cost for a visit to the Dr for bumps all over his back, by the way he is a mid size dog and very friendly?

Call 808-427-1000. I can't remember how much the office visit is. I think PetVet in Salt Lake is economical.

What would be the cost for consultation/surgery for neutering a 2 year old Maltese/lhasa also, he weights 15lbs and is current with all his shots/wellness exams?

Mahalo for your inquiry. For all pricing and service details, please call the clinic directly at 808-427-1000 and our team will be able to assist you.

They did the biopsy and analysis on three of them, and gave me the (benign) results in less than an hour. All for $143. I see people complain about pricing, but don't forget that the prices of vaccines and meds are controlled by big pharma, not by the vet! If you want to complain about that, you need to complain to Congress, not to the vet.

The woman working at the front desk was extremely rude and unwelcoming. Thankfully, another staff member stepped in and said they would still see my puppy, even though I had accidentally forgotten the paperwork from when I got her. Once we were in the exam room, the experience continued to be disappointing. The veterinary assistant would not give my puppy back to me and spent the entire appointment holding and playing with her. She stood between my boyfriend and the vet, making it difficult for him to see the exam or communicate with the doctor. It felt inappropriate and uncomfortable, especially during my puppy's first visit when I was trying to understand her health and care. The biggest concern, however, was the reason I brought her in. Since we got her, she has had a very itchy ear. I brought this up to the vet, but I was told it was just a little dirt and that she was fine. After leaving, I felt uneasy and did not feel confident that my puppy received the thorough care she needed. I decided to take her to Manoa Vet, where they immediately took an ear sample and discovered she had a yeast infection. Thankfully, they caught it before it became worse and we are now treating it. I am extremely disappointed that this concern was dismissed so quickly, especially in a 3-month-old puppy who is fully indoors. A proper test should have been done instead of an assumption being made. Veterinary care requires patience, compassion, and attention to detail. This is Hawai'i, where we value aloha and treat our families--including our furry family members, with love and respect. Unfortunately, I did not feel that care here. Nor did I feel the Aloha! I will not be returning and have found the level of care and compassion I was looking for at Manoa Vet.

We had to switch vets once before finding this clinic, and ever since then, we've truly trusted and appreciated the care they provide. Everyone at the front is always so friendly and welcoming, and they always play with our husky! I totally understand that huskies love everyone, but not everyone loves a husky's playfulness, so I really appreciate the attention and love they show our dog. One time, our husky injured her paw with a deep cut that needed after-hours care, and I am forever grateful that Dr. Hsu was available to see her right away. Even though he had already left the office, he was willing to come back for her. I think the care they provide, the heart they put into what they do, and the genuine compassion they have for animals are such important qualities when finding the right vet. We've also utilized their in-house boarding services. At first, we were worried about how our dog would do, but she did more than fine and has loved going back multiple times. The boarding process is also very seamless. They take care of her daily meals, provide 3-4 walks a day, and if anything ever comes up, they're already a vet clinic, so they can provide professional advice and care right away! I highly, highly recommend their services, knowledge, and care. I will always trust my dog in their hands. 10/10!!

We had to pay upfront, which I understand to be common with vet emergencies, but they were still pushy and tried to sell us pet insurance. The medication they prescribed seemed to somewhat help, but we ended having to have him stay over 2 weeks at his regular vet, where they had to monitor him. Their treatment cost was only just under $2,000 for the entire 2 week stay. Turns out all he needed was a diet change. No major interventions, unlike what VERC had insisted. Our regular vet asked if VERC performed a urinalysis (as they said they should have done before making any moves). We realized they hadn't. I think VERC is obviously a spot to go in desperation, but I would not return. I understand it's a business at the end of the day, but their practices made us uncomfortable. It's clearly a profitable business to get into. No wonder so many vets keep opening up around Oahu. Will remain wary and won't be returning to this one.

They have always offered me different courses of treatment based on budgetary needs. I have been into VCA 8-9 times in one month for a variety of reasons for my three pets. I have read many of their reviews and I see them trying to justify some of their discrepancies in pricing. My invoice was over $599 for a new cat check up, nail trim ($50+), a 5 minute snap FIV test ($220+), ear cleaner, and a fecal test. (Not including the $80 booster shot which after tax would've made it almost over $600). When they say: "When you are a new pet owner, it's hard to anticipate costs." ***My answer: I called two other highly rated vet hospitals on island after receiving my invoice, the other vet hospitals also confirmed this place was completely over charging me. When they said to me: "Hawaii is a lot more expensive than the mainland for vet care." ***My answer: I have had cats for 10+ years in CA, and now 6+ years in Hawaii, and my mother is an equine vet, there are differences, but not by hundreds of dollars for simple tests. I feel very slighted and that they target new pet owners who don't know a lot (they reached out to me first, I did not reach out to them days after adopting a cat, how did they get my information? It is on me for not doing further research). I don't think the technicians, vets, or front office staff are incompetent, I just don't agree with their service. I won't be going back. Also, there was leftover cat fur on the table when I went into the room, and I understand it does get everywhere, but it didn't seem like the most sterile environment for my cat at that moment.
