What an amazing staff here at Oahu Vet Clinic! Everybody from front desk, to vet technicians, to the doctors, I could tell the staff really do have the best interest for you and your pet. As a guinea pig owner of 3, my very first call here was for an emergency. It's been almost a year and a half since that phone call, but I remember the calmness and promptness of the person I spoke to on the phone. She was able to squeeze me in for an a last minute appt with the awesome Dr. Ganzer! I've spoken to this person on the phone at front desk many times and she's always been caring and helpful each time my Guinea pigs needed to go in, never pushy and always understanding. It might've been small conversations, but I always remember the relief I had talking to the front desk when in my head, I was worried/stressed out about my sick piggies. I've only brought guinea pigs here, so I can't speak on other pet type experiences, but they've always been so good to my piggies. Dr. Ganzer took really good care of all my piggies and did a great job answering our questions each time and telling us the next steps in our pigs care. I would recommend Oahu Vet and Dr Ganzer to any Guinea pig owner out there. Lastly, the pricing here is so reasonable in my opinion. I've been to many other vet clinics for my Guinea pigs and pet dog, and Oahu Vet has always been the better place to go! With that, they don't skimp out on their care. From beginning to end Oahu Vet has left a lasting impression on my boyfriend and I. Literally till the end when my old guinea pig passed away, they sent us a grievance card with the cutest little picture of him and signed but most of the staff at the clinic. Also on the day we had to put our guinea pig down, they had a little candle out for us for his passing. Forgot to take pictures when we visited but we were recommended this place by another clinic, and I'm so grateful for it! Brought my chihuahua here the other day to get her paw checked out (yeast infection), and the staff here was so friendly and knowledgeable. My dog has very high anxiety and they still handled her well and with care. Dr Ganzer's great with animals and people, he explained things so well and also give us a prescription for anxiety medication for our dog so she can handle future appointments better. We plan on coming back soon to do vaccinations. Highly recommend this place to anyone, their prices are affordable and they prepare estimates very quickly. read more

This place is so much better than that other pet place in kailua...Ovc is .Located in the old radio shack and antique store location. The waiting room had alot of people with their dogs maybe one cat but definetely a popular place for dogsand they even do birds. The staff seemed genuine and caring unlike the forementioned place in Kailua. The doctors was cool and could tell they were all animal lovers treating each pet knowing how much pets mean to people.... We had real estate clients who were moving to the mainland in a hurry and couldn't get an appointment because Oahu Vet was fully booked. We went to their office, and Dr. Choy worked out a squeeze-in and truly saved the day. We can't thank Oahu Vet Clinic enough for coming through in a pinch! They were incredibly accommodating and got our clients' puppy, Georgia, in last minute so she could move without any stress. They took amazing care of her, got her fixed and chipped just in time, and made the whole process smooth and worry-free. Dr. Choy is absolutely the best. Super helpful, kind, and thorough. I am quite sad having to write this review. My dog "Snickers" had been seeing Dr. Ganzer for the past two years. She had her toe amputated on her front right paw, and a small lipoma removed from her back paw by Dr. Ganzer early December. Dr. Ganzer did not schedule a post-op appointment until 8 days later to check the surgery site. Way too long to wait. When we went in for the check up, he was not even going to remove her bandages to look at the surgery site saying"the bandages look good, we can leave them on". I insisted the bandages be removed and was horrified to find that my poor dog had awful secondary infections in both paws. I think the vet was shocked to see this as well and he applied a healing cream with no gloves, and dirty fingernails, on an already infected wound. To make a long story short, I had to take my dog into the vet office daily for cleaning of the wound, rewrapping her paws, and a pain injection daily for two weeks! It was so painful for my dog, not to mention the trauma I endured having to watch her suffer. Dr. Ganzer also made mistakes on both of the medications he sent home with me. The pain medication was under prescribed with the wrong syringe, and the antibiotic given was 14 days short on medication. I refused to let him treat my dog any longer and had another wonderful vet in his office take care of her. I found Dr. Ganzer to be always in a rush, trying to find the fastest way to treat the pet without really thinking about what he was doing. In this climate in Hawaii, any incision needs to be looked at immediately. I know he has other good reviews, but he really let Snickers down and did not do a professional veterinary job with her. It bordered on Veterinary Malpractice. I also contacted the co-owner Dr. Kaya about this issue and requested he phone me. I never received a phone call from him and gave him over 2 weeks to respond. In my opinion Dr. Ganzer requires new protocols that will benefit his animal patients and owners. This situation was totally uncalled for. I will not let him touch my dog again. On a positive note, his office staff are very good as is Dr. Antonides who completed Snickers treatment. read more

They worked with us to save over 500-dollars on our final bill after kitty had a bad neuter reaction. We were training Ned on how to care for him a home if we couldn't afford 3-5 days of hospitalization. We had to request his records several times from a different Dr. but they finally arrived. Very few on the island, but as soon as I brought my ailing little Guinea "Ringo Star" in, the Dr just seemed to know what he needed. He was upfront with expense, and was confident it was his teeth. We're from San Francisco and don't have a regular local vet here in Honolulu, so we chose to use Oahu Veterinary Clinic again when Biscuit was under the weather this week. We requested an annual thorough checkup and senior blood panel and Biscuit's attending vet, Dr Antonides, suggested a baseline x-ray which we totally agree. Everything went smooth and was so fast. I can't speak for the other doctors here, but my dog has been a patient with Dr Ganzer for about a decade now. He's an outstanding vet. You can really tell he cares about the animals, and it's amazing how much my dog likes him. My dog used to hide under the chair from the previous vet that we had. When she sees Dr Ganzer, she goes from being very nervous and shaky to being friendly and happy to see him. He's given us great advice over the years and saved my dog's life more than a few times. I can't speak more highly of his bedside manner, his knowledge, and the way he goes about caring for my dog. It's been an absolute pleasure having him as our vet. STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY!!! My partner and I were searching for a primary vet for our kitten and stumbled across Oahu Vet Clinic. We saw all the great reviews and made an appointment, and honestly, it wasn't bad; prices were fair, and the doctor really did go out of her way for us. That's the only reason they get 2 stars. However, they traumatized my kitten! She has never been the same since her first appointment. She was perfectly fine, until they decided to Abusively contain her for her shots, and they had five men and women hold down my 6-month-old kitten. she was screaming so loud you could hear her outside... how could they not take a hint that she may have needed to be sedated... so cruel... Looking back, I felt so bad because I would've done something, but they dismissed me and my partner to the waiting room and told us we couldn't be in the room... first red flag... Find an office whose staff is more caring and not ABUSIVE!!! I wish i could sue.. literally now i have to deal with my cats problems with other people because of their impatience and cruelty. Dr Ganzer has been treating my mom's "senior citizen" dog for a couple of years and we have been impressed with his calm and compassionate demeanor but also his ability to actively listen and pinpoint issues and diagnoses where other vets have not. I've had a really good experience with Dr Ganzer so far. I have two older kittens (5 and 8 months) who have been at the vets office way more than I'd prefer due to ongoing kitten colds and now what appears to be allergies for my bigger guy. Dr Ganzer and his staff have been really lovely, and Dr Ganzer takes time to explain things (today he took his lunch break which I feel terrible about.) Also during my first visit, Dr Gazner was extremely sweet with my kitten and it just endeared me to the clinic. My only complaint is that there's often a wait and they just seem very busy and can feel a bit chaotic. On the flip side of that, they'll offer "squeeze in" appointments (for a bit more money), so when I've needed to squeeze in (last minute) that's been helpful - which sorta explains why they always seem so busy. It's going to be an ongoing journey figuring out my animal's needs, and I appreciate the time they've taken, and the patience with my stress about it. I had a kitty die several months ago after 3 years of health issues which was pretty traumatic and stressful, so I can get emotional and stressed out easily. And given how busy they seem, they're super timely with getting back to my inquiries (props to the front desk staff). Also the costs are some of the most fair I've seen. I've considered possibly taking the bigger guy to Purradise down the road depending on what happens with his allergy situation only because for the (far higher) costs, you get an extreme level of care / oversight. But my hope / preference right now is to just stay the course with Dr Ganzer and get this chonky fluff ball into tip top shape. read more

Oahu Veterinary Clinic is one of the best vet hospitals I've visited. They are very understanding and cooperative. We've brought our rabbits here for check-ups in the past, and our recent visits have been for our new bunnies. I appreciate the amount of support we've gotten from Oahu VC. It's hard finding rabbit savvy/exotic animal vets. Dr. Ganzer and Dr. Kaya are both amazing and you can tell they care deeply about you and your fur babies. Backstory: my husband and I got rabbits from a pet store (SMH, I know.) and less than a day in, we noticed a few red flags with their health. Since we were just getting to know them we monitored them and by the second day they completely stopped eating and drinking and there were barely any feces. We brought them in to Oahu VC and Dr. Ganzer gave us medication for their respiratory infections. We did lose one of them due to a situation out of anyones control. We're still continuing the meds with the other bunny in hopes that she'll respond to them better and faster. As hard as it is to go through this, Dr. Ganzer and the rest of the team were very kind to us and helped us through all our questions and concerns. When you lose a pet there are options on what you want to do ie, cremation, private cremation (ashes back to you), or to take your pet and do a burial yourself. We chose private cremation so we get our bun's ashes back. As hard as this was, I'm glad she was with people who did absolutely everything they could to save her. Thank you guys for helping us so quickly and as best as you can, you're so appreciated. TLDR: Bring your pets here, everyone is so nice and understanding and the doctors do everything in their power to make your fur baby happy and healthy. & don't hesitate to make the appointments your pets need. read more

I called this surgery for an emergency appointment for my cat Chester, having read only good reviews about it. They arranged a time for me to come in quickly and the vet and their staff could not have been more helpful and gentle in seeing Chester who was understandably frightened by this new situation. Dr Ganzer informed me that the hole in Chester's stomach had been inflicted in a cat fight. He expertly gave him an antibiotic injection and set me up with some dietary advice since Chester was slightly overweight! I recommend this business and have made it my clinic of choice for my pets. We normally take our pup to Hawaii Kai Veterinary Clinic, but she was vomiting and having bloody diarrhea. We absolutely needed a same day appointment, so they referred us here. The two clinics are sisters, and share the same computer system. Oahu Veterinary Clinic is new and still building their clientele, so they were able to see us that afternoon. We saw Dr. Kaya. He was very good with our distressed little Yorkie. He was pretty sure it was giardia, so he prescribed medicine and ordered a fecal test to be sure. So we took her home and started on the medicine. He called the next day when he got the test results back, and he was right. But this way, our pupper was already on the medicine and one day closer to being well.
