Here's our order along with feedback! 1. Beef Patty with cheese in coco bread: Beef Patty was mild tasting, so anyfirst-timee tryers can absolutely enjoy. Personally, I like a lot of spices but was still delicious. It came hot and bread was warm, cheese was stretchy. 2. Curry goat with roti: curry flavor was on point, a good amount of goat pieces and it came with a side of steamed cabbage. Roti was huge so, no need to get an extra order. 3. Jerk chicken with rice and beans with cabbage: chicken was spiced up and you can definitely taste the flavors and heat. It might be because food was prepared earlier, but chicken itself was dry, which is a shame because the seasoning was good. Rice and beans was actually really good! There were some claims of food poisoning and I really hope those diners are okay. My first time experience, we had hot, cooked through food. We also ordered some Jamaican dumplings but I guess they ran out but they quickly submitted a refund for that. Great service and 4/5 stars on food. Is it the best I've had? My boyfriend and I were looking for a bite to eat and we decided on Jamaican cuisine. We entered the restaurant and noticed the almost empty cases. Not sure if they were just done cooking for the day or if items needed to be refilled, however, when asked what options they had available as my partner and I are pescatarian, we received a less than desirable response. The woman at the counter sucked her teeth and sighed. That surprised me, having Jamaicans in my family, I know many who do not eat meat. We decided to spend our money elsewhere. There are too many options available for restaurants to alienate potential clientele. The restaurant did look clean and organized, however, the chairs were empty. They did have a great selection of beverages. Perhaps a change in customer service skills would be beneficial. This is my first time attending here. Over the weekend I went to the one in Wyandanch. It was a nice restaurant so i decided to try here. The staff was talking on the phone her persona came off as she didn't want to be there. My husband asked is how spicy is the chicken she said it's Jerk Chicken. So it left my husband wondering how spicy is the chicken . Prices are average and not expensive. Would I go back? Yes but I do feel the staff could be more friendlier. Every so often I get the hankering for Ox Tail and Rice at Island Jerk...With the Jamaican music blaring and the locals standing in a long line you feel like your in a different place far far away! The choices are sufficient, and theres Jerk Chicken, Stewed Chicken, fried Chicken, Fried Fish, Ox tail and a plethora of other choices served with a tasty dirty rice. You have to remember your in their world inside and the counter servers are quiet but helpful and seem to always get the order right. Orders come in small, medium and large and are reasonably priced for large portions. Theres enough choices to allow a different dish every time you visit. Ordered a large Jerk chicken with rice and beans, a large ribs and rice and beans combo, goat head soup, and vegetable patty. I'm not going to rate the ribs..I mean there is no science to it..just ribs and sauce I think they handled that just fine. Jerk chicken I asked for extra Jerk Sauce and it was spicy but not OVERWHELMINGLY spicy which is how I like it. But altogether it wasn't anything special--the meat wasn't the most tender-falling-off-the-bone type of thing, but it got the job done. Rice & Beans were really good--I give them props for that. The little cabbage and mini size sweet plantains on the side did nothing to help the meal, just extra. Goat Head Soup--was my mother's and she wanted me to add that the flavors were there but unlike what the lady behind the counter advertised there were no dumplings or carrots just meat and soup water. My mother was slightly disappointed. Vegetable patty was good as per my mother (maybe I should talk her into starting a yelp account since she had a lot to add to this review today?) This place is either overly priced or the cashier got over on me because she could tell I wasn't from the area. I ordered ackee by itself no provision or fry dumplings because it was not ready not to mention the ackee was very oily; 2 beef patties and a large porridge which totaled $34.00. I only had my card and a $20 bill. The cashier asked how I was paying and I said it depends if it's over $20 with my card. The receipt didn't have the breakdown of price for each items. It's truly unfortunate how people take advantage - I understand that businesses are still trying to recover considering we are still in a Pandemic but this is the reason some businesses don't make it because of their dishonesty. Before I could finish my question, I was told no phone orders and the phone clicked. I went into the location on Deer Park ave. One person was cleaning and the other was tending to customers. However, she did it all for the order, took the order, went to the kitchen got the food, took the payment and then give it to the customer. This was my first time going to this restaurant. My utter disdain for this place cannot be put in words. 1. The food is overly priced. One patti is $2.50. They don't even make the patties in house. They order patties with three inches of greyish colored dough with barely any filling. One medium oxtails is $18+ dollars The Oxtails were tough and undercooked. The cabbage was tough and undercooked. The flavors were bland with absolutely no Jamaican flavors such as thyme, scotch bonnet, or onion. The portions are generous. You get a large portion of undercooked tough unflavorful food. You might as well take your money and burn it instead of eating here There is No customer service. When I called to tell the owner my oxtails were tough and I couldn't bite it , they hung up on me twice. I wouldn't give this food to my worst enemy. My most recent run in, was to order my usual trays of cocktail patties for an event. I spoke with "Donna", and she was requiring me to come in to the store to place the order which was extremely out of my way. I thought it was a full service restaurant; they have a small dining room and a bar so I was a little confused when we had to order at the counter and then seat ourselves after. Everything seemed well seasoned (for the most part) and tasted very good. We got a jamaican beef patty with cheese (so much gooey cheese...could've maybe used a little less and filled with more meat), and a side of macaroni and cheese (this was not made well at all. The cheese was not heated up so it was like old warmed mac and cheese that had hard gobs of cheese and wouldn't mix in that lacked flavor). The portions were a nice size and with 1 snapple came out to $35 (lg chicken, sm oxtail, side mac, patty, and drink) so not a bad price...they just need to make it more clear for people that want to experience their food and expect sit down service it is only available on the weekends as well as key menu items. Was excited to try this North Babylon Jamaican eatery. Upon entry, we were kind if given a "who the f--k are you?" look from the staff. Guess it's a locals place. Counter service was cold, impatient and a little rude. Ordered anyway, got our orders fairly quick and took a seat in their drab dining room on the other side of a wall. Ordered the curry chicken roti and it was delicious, perfectly spicy and full of flavor. Equally good was the stewed chicken with roti. Jamaican beef patties are very tasty as well. The problem here isn't the food, it's great. The service, however, leads a little to be desired. For food I give it four stars. Service is a one and a half so I met in the middle with three. Recommended but for take out and done expect a warm welcome when you enter. read more

If you want authentic Jamaican/Caribbean food while in long island, this is definitely the place to go to. When you walk in, the aroma is filled with West Indian, flavorful savory food. I always get the Plantains with oxtail sauce on top of the beans and rice with the spicy chicken. Last time I tried their oxtails with the usual meal minus the chicken and it was D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S. I always get a small but their portions are huge so a small will fill you up just fine. In addition, the price and the portion is very fair. However, I must say that this is a place that is solely good for their food. When you come here, do not expect to get any sort of exemplary customer service. My first visit proved to be quite hectic based on the fact that I had never been there before and did not know what I had wanted so I felt a little rushed. However, once I got over that hump and had gotten the usual delicious dish, it wasn't so bad. The staff isn't terribly rude, however they aren't nice either. The other customer then shouted out that he'd like 3 beef patties. I then realized that is the method to order at this place: not to wait but to yell out the order. Happy this place is nearby and doing great business (lots of orders in out when we were there picking up). The tastes as flavorful as the islands. Oooh their beef and chicken empanadas are light and awesome.
