I can't say enough good things about Camille at Island Fit Pilates in Alameda. She's an absolutely amazing teacher--warm, encouraging, and incredibly knowledgeable. Every session feels both challenging and supportive. Camille has a real gift for explaining movements clearly, adjusting for different levels, and making sure you get the most out of your practice while keeping proper form and alignment. Her classes strike the perfect balance between strength, flexibility, and mindfulness. I always leave feeling stronger, more centered, and motivated to come back. Whether you're new to Pilates or experienced, Camille creates a welcoming environment where everyone can thrive. If you're looking for a Pilates instructor who is professional, caring, and truly passionate about helping her students, Camille is the one! read more

This was such a disappointing experience. I signed up for the five class per month subscription, but immediately found it challenging to schedule classes because there's only one instructor and very few classes per week. Attendance was strangely sparse - sometimes there would be one or two other people in the class, but mostly it was just me. In hindsight, that should have been a huge red flag. In my first month, the instructor no-showed for one of my classes. I considered cancelling my subscription then and there, but she promptly apologized and credited my account, so I decided to give her another chance. In my second month, she no-showed THREE TIMES IN A ROW. I waited days for her to respond to messages. When she finally did, her messages were incoherent. She never credited my account. I cancelled my subscription and got my credit card company to refund my money. Clearly this is a pattern for her, and I can only assume she doesn't really want to be in the business of running a Pilates studio. But continuing to let people sign up and pay for expensive monthly subscriptions is SHADY if not fraudulent. read more

Update: Now I'm taking the beginner's class and Camille does such a great job helping me with my modifications in the flow of the class. I'm getting the hang of it and look forward to building enough stamina for 2 classes a week. read more

Initially, the studio and Camille seemed promising. I went there for the free intro session, where she introduced the machines and the studio's procedures. The studio is clean and the machines look really beautiful and well-maintained. Unfortunately, when I signed up for the Ready class the following week, the class that you're allowed to take after the intro session, which is $30 for about an hour, Camille canceled right beforehand (I was already at the studio) and said she was sick. That was fine because, of course, people get sick, but the studio has no other instructors right now. I wasn't sure when I would get the chance to sign up again for another class because there only about 3 or so Ready classes in the week, and I work + I have a kid to take care of. So I asked if I could have a refund first, but she never replied to my email. Instead, when I checked later, she had given me credit for another class, which would expire in a month. So I signed up for another class about 2-3 weeks later. Same thing happened again. She canceled right before the class, saying she was sick. I was, again, already at the studio. This time, I asked for an extension on the expiration date because the class credit was going to expire in a few days. She never responded to my email and my credit has expired. That's $30 out of my pocket. I'm not wealthy. I wanted to do this for PT rehab because I'm injured. I'm never getting that money back. I feel like this business is both unprofessional, possibly just a scam. read more

I have known Camille since 2011. I have taken classes at her studio and I have taken classes when she was a teacher at other studios where she learned her craft! She is amazing! Not only does she give you Pilates instruction but she gives you lessons through life. (Cheat Codes) She is not overbearing or pushy, she just shares her wisdom. She is a nurturing, kind and understanding human being and is always very encouraging. Recently, Camille lost her soulmate/best friend/husband. She is working through this tragic event as best as one can. I'm just happy that she's able to keep the studio open for people that are interested in Pilates. She is a go-getter, although she sometimes isn't perfectly."on.". She is very communicative and keeps me informed. She's transparent and I appreciate that! I always feel better after leaving her class. I feel confident and stronger. I highly recommend that you check out the studio. It is beautiful, warm, clean and welcoming. She takes a lot of pride in her craft and her studio, you can tell in how passionate she is. I give her two thumbs up! read more

REOPENED! This is not only the loveliest Pilates studio on the Island, it is unquestionably the best in the East Bay. I have followed the owner/instructor, Camille, for at least 9 years because her invigorating and engaging classes produce results. The new space and class offerings (a variety of reformer Pilates and jumpboard among others) exceed expectations. Island Fit offers a generous selection of equipment (the highest quality Balanced Body reformer machines, weights, springboards, antimicrobial mats, and more). The classes will challenge you to become stronger, and you will also find yourself having a lot of fun in a welcoming, attractive, and clean environment. Great for all fitness levels due to instructor expertise and quick ability to offer modifications. Start or continue your Pilates practice here! read more

Camille, the owner of Island Fit Pilates, illegally took funds from my account for 8 months even though I have not stepped a foot into her studio or received ANY services from her, IFP or their associate(s). At no point did I authorize Camille or IFP to automatically withdraw funds from my account, but she still did it, with ease. To add further insult to injury, Camille stopped returning emails or phone calls soon after I reached out to her to try & resolve this. IFP has caused me to shoulder multiple overdraft fees & financial hardships; Camille continues to remain silent. So now, $2000+ dollars later I'm still trying to get my money back. My suggestion if you want to learn Pilates reformer training, go with someone who has integrity even when no one is looking. Someone who is honest when no one is looking. There are other studios & professionals who will not steal from you & will try to right the wrong. read more

Island fit is absolutely incredible! I tried it for the first time last month and was blown away by the amazing studio, passionate instructor, and rewarding classes that set you up for success. The studio itself is gorgeous and uplifting - light-filled and airy with new, top-quality Reformers and equipment. Camille, the owner and main instructor, is so passionate and motivating. She really takes the time to guide each student, even in group classes, to make sure you understand and properly execute every movement. I started with the introductory "Ready" class which properly oriented me to the Reformer equipment so I could get the full benefit of the more intense classes. The Reformer classes are so rewarding - you work muscle groups in a measured, methodical way and feel so good afterwards. It's an extremely effective full-body workout. While being such a premium boutique studio, the prices are incredibly affordable which makes enjoying Pilates Island a regular habit very feasible. I cannot recommend this magical studio enough - it's an absolute must-try! read more

Signed up for intro class and instructor was a no show. Received no email or anything after the fact and it's been two weeks since. Real bummer because I wanted to support a small business. read more

I signed up for the Intro class and the instructor was a no show. One other student and I waited outside for 25 minutes, then gave up and left. read more

I had scheduled a private lesson today at 11am with Camille and I received an email from Camille at 10:35am said the class is cancelled and will be reschedule. " WHAT??" I was already outside at the studio. On your policy, you said cancel or reschedule has to be 12 hours before the class time. Called during the business hours and no one answered the phone. Just refund me the money and I don't want to come back again. read more

The good news: the studio set-up is great, and Camille is a great instructor, writing as someone new to Pilates. The bad news: so far, the instructor missed two classes of the five-class package I purchased. For the first missed class, she hadn't arrived by twenty minutes after the class started (still laundering studio equipment) and most of us didn't have an option to stay indefinitely and needed to leave. For the second, I arrived to find the studio closed for a class I booked and had an emailed confirmation for. Driving across town and standing out in front of a dark studio is not how I want to learn the class has been canceled. She credited the first miss. I'm still waiting for an explanation on the closed studio for a paid and confirmed class. As much as I want to be a fan, I cannot support a business where the class you've signed up for may or may not happen. read more

Longtime local Pilates instructor Camille has opened *her own* beautiful Pilates studio right in the center of the island and I couldn't be happier! Camille and her fellow instructors create a friendly and inclusive environment where the classes are challenging but easily modified for newbies, injuries, or reduced mobility. I've followed her for years and my body is so much better for it! Island Pilates has reformers, springboards, and jumpboards. The environment is wonderful with a small locker room, nice amenities, beautiful space conducive to a good workout. You can buy single classes or a package and their pricing is so much better than other Pilates studios. read more

I enjoyed the classes at first, but Camille proved to be flaky and unresponsive to emails. I ended up more than 2-3 times waiting outside her studio when she was a no-show. In the end I lost over $200 on unused classes that couldn't be made up in the allotted time frame. I wish I had read the reviews before I signed up. What a huge mistake! read more

Camille is an excellent instructor. She is clear and helpful. I had not done pilates prior to joining the classes at Island Fit Pilates. So, I had some trepidation. Camille's instruction made it effortless to get started and to gain command of the basics. After just a few months of 2x per week classes, I am more flexible, my muscles are firmer, and more core strength has increased. As others have said, the studio is a delight. Clean, modern, well-lit, and up-lifting. Definitely give it a try! read more

The studio is really nice and right in the middle of town with easy parking options compared to Webster or Park street. BUT unfortunately the instructor/owner Camille is super flaky. She was either late or canceled last minute 3 of the 4 times I went. So that means 3 times myself and others were standing outside of the studio waiting for an uncomfortable amount of time before she showed up or finally texted that class was canceled. read more

I'm so grateful for Island Fit Pilates! The studio is beautiful (as is the equipment) and Camille is an excellent instructor. Her clear expertise paired with small class size ensures clients get personal attention to deepen and polish their practice. The classes are dynamic and fun with each one different from the last. I've learned a lot from Camille since practicing at her studio and can feel the results within my body. Thank you Island Fit :) read more

If you have ever wanted to try Pilates... start here today! I have followed Camille around off and on for about 9 years and I am so excited for her that she has opened up her own studio. The studio is nice, airy, and clean; right now during covid there is a limit of 3 people per class and everybody must wear a mask and she does a vector fog between each class and rotates reformers we use, we clean our reformers and equipment after use- I feel very safe and all of the fellow clients are pretty cool, fun people. Here's what I can tell you: 1) Tell your instructor if you have any injuries, there are modifications for every exercise. 2) It's OK if you have never done this, we all started somewhere and we are always learning new movements to keep it interesting; you will surprise yourself in how strong you are in certain areas and weak in others 3) Camille will come by and correct your form or adjust your alignment 4) Expect total body work out, I like this studio because it is a nice mixture of movement- there are classes that are custom for more of the beginner and also ones that move at a faster pace with less resting time in-between. 5) Some classes we mix it up and to some cross training on the springboard or mix the jumpboard in 6) You will be hooked; different monthly packages or frequency packs to suit all... hope to see you in a class! read more

Camile is an amazing, kind, and knowledgeable instructor! She has restored my body. This is my first experience with Reformer Pilates, I didn't know what to expect. Well, what I'm getting has exceeded my expectations. The studio is beautiful. I love training there. read more

I am so excited that this studio is finally open! Definitely what this island needed Pilates wise! I started reformer Pilates years ago to aid in my knee surgery recovery, and I was HOOKED. Pilates has changed my body (oh look, I can finally touch my toes and know what core strength is! ha!) I look forward to every one of my classes! I promise there is no reason to be intimidated! Camille and her fellow instructors are very inviting and accommodate every level of fitness and injuries. Camille still checks in with me every class regarding my injuries. This is a super cute studio and has some amenities! (in case you need to run off to work or dinner after class.) Street parking has been very easy to find and it's free! read more

I want to give a shout out to IslandFit Pilates on Encinal!! Last week was my first full week back IN the studio and Camille has gone above and beyond to make sure we all feel safe. Plenty of sunlight and fresh air, and she is the only teacher at this time with access. Only 3 people max per class and she does the vector fogging bw classes and rotating of machines so there are no back to back people on the same machine. I know everyone has their own comfort level right now (no shaming please), but for anyone looking to get back in shape I can't recommend this studio enough for their protocols. If you are a customer or member of a small business / industry hit by this mess, spread the love and help them spread the word! read more

Camille is a innovative and knowledgeable instructor. She is to the point and bangs the workout out. The classes are both challenging and fun. On the Covid front, she has gone above and beyond to make her studio a safe environment. I have no concerns there. Much like her workouts, Camille has embraced these uncertain times with spirit and determination. Her business deserves success. read more
