This is a great shop! I was on an End to End tour with Cyclist Touring Club in September 2018 when…read morethe drive side crank arm broke on my 1983 Trek. Howard rummaged up an old mountain bike crank from a back room and had me on my way in no time and at very little expense. It worked like a charm all the way to John O'Groats! They have a super website, too. Perfect match for a full range shop from vintage to new.

I hate coming to this shop. It actually gives me anxiety. If you don't ask your bike related…read morequestion in exact, specific terms, you will be corrected, and you will be made to look like a fool. This is not a casual cyclist friendly shop. Unless you know anything and everything about bikes you will most likely get stared at, or mocked out the door. It's awful. So, thinking I'd be clever and call ahead this time to save the usual condescension, I ended up suffering the usual treatment. I literally just came off the phone from the know-it-all owner, and the conversation went like this: Me: "Hi there, I'm after a mountain bike seat without a pole" Owner: "Well, they don't come with poles. It's only the child's bikes where the seats come without the poles attached. The adult one's never come with poles" - in tone that suggests I'm crazy for even suggesting that they might come with a pole. Me: "Well good, I'm only after a seat" Silence....... more silence....... aaaaand silence.... Me: "Well have you got a seat for sale?" Owner: "Yes!!" He could have just said "yes, we have seats for sale, with no poles, in between this price range" - but no, he had to try and make me feel like an ignorant fool first before answering my question. To top it off, they're a total ripoff!! I went in to get my brake pads changed, and Ended up paying £50 quid for a load of extra services I didn't even ask for!!! this makes me want to grind my teeth down to a nub. I wish there was another bike shop in Matlock!! I'd happily take all my business elsewhere were it not for the fact that being the only shop gives them a monopoly. If you have the luxury of shopping elsewhere, I suggest you do, lest you get ripped off and talked to like dirt.
