I thought David Austin Roses was going to be just another garden centre but with roses instead of the usual array of plants. How wrong could I have been? This place is more like one of the best National Trust gardens you could find than a garden centre. There are all sorts of gardens, brimming with roses. There is also a restaurant with an excellent range of lunches, from homemade soup and rolls, to healthy vegetarian dishes, cakes etc. I tried the quiches and salad which was really good. The restaurant has a nice feel about it - very smart.
There is also a shop and, would you believe it, a garden centre too!
I took lots of photos, as did the various Japanese tourists I saw there. I would definitely recommend David Austin Roses to photographers. We also bought some gorgeous roses, the likes of which I haven't seen before. read more
