There were some hardcore Sunday shoppers here and rightly so this place is beautiful. Full on country side vibe with every possible flower and shrub imaginable! I got my trolley and causally stilled around the centre settling on buying some sunflowers and other really hard to pronounce types of flowers for my mom and dads front garden. I have no idea who named some of these varieties of flowers....but they went innnnn...I won't lie a lot of them I couldn't pronounce but I gave it a good go..with varying results.... The flowers here are super cheap too the sunflowers were like 1.50 each and most pots are below £3...bargains galore!! The only thing to note is the tills are busy...people are flocking for a wide for those bargain blooms so set out an afternoon for this trip it's definitely going to take you a a few to see everything and pay....but that's the vibe surely...loved it.

The monthly farmers market which attracts a wide variety of local farmers is well worth visiting, once you've tried Buffallo sausages you'll be hooked for life. The regular farm shop stocks the usual overpriced preserves, biscuits and extortionate sweets. The newly expanded discount book section is well worth a browse and they have a new line in stationary made from recycled sheep poo.

Within the garden centre there is a Garden Equipment shop selling lawn mowers and the like. There is also an aquatics centre, which sell a wide range of fish, including cold, tropical & marine. They also stock a wide range of aquariums, After walking around for a few hours you can rest and have a bite to eat at the Blue Parrot cafe (I think that's what it's called). Just outside the cafe there is a rather nice kids play area. We often go there as a family and everybody gets something out of it.

I always stock up on bedding plants here in the Summer, they have a great selection of healthy plants, or ready made pots and baskets to bring lots of colour to your garden. The prices are much cheaper than the bigger stores and I think the plants are better cared for here. The staff are friendly and really helpful if you need advice on which plants would grow best in your garden. A tradional Nursery / Garden Centre with lots to offer every kind of gardener or plant lover.

The owner and his lovely team of staff do everything they possibly can to help. Deliveries can be organised and advice sought when needed. We are currently setting up a small holding and needed lots of advice about trees for the area we have just moved to, which is luckily just sup the road from the nursery, and we have been helped magnificently. That it has a lovely café for coffee and cream scones is simply the icing on the cake :-)

They also have a huge variety of reptiles as well as a very comprehensive small animal department. The restaurant offers a fabulous variety of superb foods at sensible prices ranging from snacks to three course meals. The whole place is clean, tidy and well maintained. A more recent addition is an indoor shopping mall which includes an old-fashioned sweet shop as well as a luxury chocolate counter with fabulous hot chocolate drinks. Of course being a garden centre they also have a huge range of indoor and outdoor plants as well as paving, fencing, decking, water features, compost, seeds and lots lots more.

Chapmans is the best garden centre in the local area; there is a good variety of plants, shrubs and trees, which are reasonably priced and very healthy. The tree section in particular has a wide variety of plants, more impressive than most bigger garden centres. The members of staff are cheerful and helpful, and genuinely understand about the plants they are selling, which is a novelty for a garden centre! It also sells mainly plants and plant related products, rather than the myriad of 'tat' that most garden centres sell. The Topiary Tea Rooms is set in a small wooden building, but has a beautiful outlook onto a sun-soaked patio where wild birds feed very relaxing. They only serve drinks and cakes, but I would definitely recommend the cheese scones. As the weather steadily improves, I would heartily recommend Chapmans as a place to go to rejuvenate your garden.

If ever their is a problem with any plants there is never an issue with exchange, which I never had. Kevin is top guy, as is all the staff and their knowledge of all plants is so very helpful. Whenever we visit we always come away with some plant regardless of size, and most important for us, a great cup of tea / coffee and a lush scone or cake all home baked. What can I add " Well done staff and management at Chapmans " You won't be disappointed.

The store is large, well laid out & in terms of non-plant produce, well stocked, if largely overpriced. The plants however, are generally very disappointing, due both to the limited range & the poor quality. A lot of the plants are either unwatered or over watered & worringly often diseased or suffering from infestations. The few plants that I have purchased have been badly root bound & failed to flourish.

However the lawned area of the house is lovely to sit and relax and watch the ducks on the pond. In the house is a very nice shop which over looks the garden and river Teme. Burford is also home to the National Clematis Collection there is a charge to visit this side of the garden
