First time stopping into this Tacos El Amish location (us gringos pronounce it "Ehlll Ahh-meeesh")…read moreand it was awesome... Great little authentic taqueria up on the far northeast side of town. We've been to the restaurant on Broadway (which is good), but the Harlan location is better. Both locations are owned by the same family and you can tell they work their butts off to offer a quality product to their customers. The Broadway location is "tacos only" (nothing else), where as Harlan offers all your traditional Mexican fare. We got tacos, beans, and rice, and it was excellent... Our favorite taqueria in town is Rigo's down in Waynedale, but this location gives them a run for their money. Their tacos here are absolute fire, they stuff them silly full, and they offer up four different types of salsas (they've got some damn kick, so be careful) with cucumbers and radishes. The one thing we really like is they don't overly salt any of their food unlike other taquerias around town. You know this place is good when you're the only gringos eating there... Add in friendly/service, fair/reasonable prices, cool authentic/old school looking design inside, and Tacos El Amish is a hidden gem. If you're up on the northeast side of town, this little taqueria is worth the stop... You will not be disappointed (unless you don't like authentic Mexican food).

Holy hell, Bat Man... How did we not hit this place up before now?…read more We've driven by the TFT hundreds of times and never stopped... We finally stopped by for an earlier dinner before a Journey concert at The Coliseum (which wasn't great btw; time for those guys to retire). TFT is a chill lil' short order taqueria, but has a nice menu with many options. The service was just okay (not overly friendly), but the food was phenomenal. The tacos were as good as others we've had in town, and it was really reasonably priced especially for the size of the meals ($45 for dinner, 2 people). Rigo's is still our favorite taco joint in FW, but TFT is right up there with them. We'll definitely hit this place up again and it's worth the stop for a quick bite.

It was clean, friendly staff, upbeat Latin music, the menu was easy to follow, hot and large portions. Inside, the decor was on point, authentic feel with ceramic pots, handcrafted decorations, and little details on the walls that make it feel like Mexico. The staff was nice too. They don't waste time with small talk, but they're friendly, efficient, and the food came out surprisingly fast. I ordered two asada tacos and two cabeza tacos, and let me tell you... they were so good. They came out piping hot with grilled onions on the side, which was the perfect finishing touch. Both tacos were packed with meat. The asada was incredibly tender with those slightly crispy edges from the grill that added so much flavor. The cabeza was just as impressive. It was unbelievably soft and almost melted in your mouth. Add a little salsa, a bite of the grilled onions, and everything came together perfectly. The onions added just enough sweetness to balance the savory meat, making every bite even better. This is exactly the kind of taco spot I love finding. Definitely I'll be coming back.

Rated within its niche, our meal deserves every one of its five stars for the authenticity,…read morequality, flavor and quantity. Even its location just off the city center--within a Mexican grocery store-- added to the experience. One server/cashier and one cook handled the small dinner crowd very well. We had heard raves about their salsa so we expected a bowl of salsa with our chips. Instead we got squeeze bottles, one orange, one green. The green salsa had some kick, and the orange had wonderful layers of flavor. Although we did not need it, we noticed a bar for extra toppings. In 2025, most of the entrees seem to be in the $14 to $16 range. Again, the quantity of food was way more than we could eat in one meal. I originally told my companion we were not leaving until I ate every delicious bite of my nachos. That proved impossible. Since we were traveling we could not take any leftovers home, so I mourned the deliciousness I left behind.

What really bothered me was the surprise 3.5% surcharge they add if you pay with a card. That includes debit cards too. I didn't see any signs about it and wasn't told until the check came. At that point, I didn't have cash, so I had no choice. For anyone wondering, surcharges on debit cards aren't allowed under Visa and Mastercard rules. I get that places are trying to cover costs, but it should be clear up front and within the rules. I wouldn't have stayed if I knew about the extra fee--or I would've stopped at my bank across the street to grab some cash. Just a heads-up for anyone thinking of stopping by: bring cash.

So we walked down the block to Lalos cause it was what we decided sounded good. When we got there the place was extremely chaotic. And the waitress that took us to our table was very rude. We were sat in the overflow area which at that point might as well have been a storage closet. The table and chairs in said room were most definitely not even cleaned off. And the menus were covered in smeared food. The service was slow and almost non existent. When we were finally able to order the food we got was made wrong so we sent it back to be fixed. When it came back the meat in the burritos that we had received had been nothing but fat. I was irritated to the point that we decided that it would be best that we just paid and left. What we ordered was not worth almost $50. Would most definitely not recommend this place.

The Garrett location is a bit hard to find as you have to get about two blocks off the main drag. The building is predominant so you can't miss it. The parking lot is laid out oddly. If you have to park in the west lots you may park in grass or mud when wet. The outside of the building isn't too attractive nor is the covered deck. However the food and interior easily make up for it. The inside is moderately large and spacious. You feel comfortable while dinning in the well decorated chairs and tables. The bar area is very attractive if that is your hang out. The chips are nice and crisp with only a slight taste of grease. The salsa will on the spicy side of mild with a fine-chopped texture. Both make great starters. I tried the enchiladas supremes. I really liked the cheese and bean enchiladas. Very smooth, easy to cut and nice traditional flavors. The ground meat was okay. It had some stronger beef flavor and was moist. The chicken enchiladas seemed a bit dry and tough to me. Overall...a good experience. Drive to Garrett to get away from the crowds and enjoy outstanding Mexican food!
