One star for Dr. Meeker. The front office manger is a very rude and aggressive lady. She overpowers dentist (when dentist agrees to give the medication and she rejected and asked dentist to change the decision). She promised a discount over the phone. When we pay the $$$$ bill in the front, I asked a few questions about the bill details to see if the discount is applied. She responded: you either pay it or go away. I got a crown and filling replaced here in March 2017 and paid about $2000 after insurance. I now have to have both my crown and filling replaced. Usually fillings I've received in the past have lasted quite longer. I've never received a crown until Dr. Meeker places one so not sure how long they are to last, but I'd imagine greater than 2 years. read more

JUST STAY AWAY FROM THAT OFFICE AND FROM THAT DOCTOR. I wish there was availability to put "Zero" stars. I hate when people lie, especially​ if this is a ​doctor. We called him before going there and asked about the consultation​ price. When I went there for the ​"FREE" consultation​, he said that in order to give the​ right option for my tooth he needs to take off the crown and then to recement it back. I said OK. He took off the crown looked at my tooth and gave me a ​couple of options for the treatment, all of them were​ a lot expensive than the price I got from another doctor. About a week later I got a call from their office and they asked me what is my decision. I told them ​that I went to another doctor and started my tooth treatment with him. After 6-8 months they called me and told me that I need to pay for recementing I told them that it was a free consultation and that doctor never told me that he will charge me, they said OK and hang up now a 1.5 years later I'm​ getting a final notification that my bill should be paid and if not paid they will send me to collection. SERIOUSLY​? ARE YOU KIDDING ME????? I called them and they told me that the doctor is retired. So what? LOL,​ that means that you should bill me and send or send​ it ​to a ​collection? Was looking for a new dentist. I did a lot of checking around. Never got a chance to visit with the doctor. Dr. Meeker's office received great reviews. Many, many 5 stars. I reviewed his website and was impressed. Dr Meeker also recorded a video stating that he wanted to create a pleasant experience in the office, but with his staff as well. That sold me. I called the office and received a voice message that office hours were from Monday through Thursday, from 8 or 9 to 6 PM, lunch hours were from 12:30 to 1:45 (I called around 1 PM). I called back at around 2 PM. No answer. I figured they might have taken a little longer lunch. Called back at around 2:30 PM or so. The receptionist who answered said that Dr. Meeker was out of town for the week and the earliest he could see me would be the following Wednesday. I told the receptionist, I would call back, once I cleared my calendar. Dr Meeker takes PPO insurance, no HMO etc. I called back, that afternoon, around 4 PM. No answer again, but left a message regarding the appointment time, left my name and phone number. I didn't receive a call back. Will have to continue my search for a good dentist. read more

Great customer service, friendly staff and Dr. Meeker has a very welcoming manner. Today was my first visit. I got a cleaning in the morning and a root canal in the afternoon! I visited Dr. Meeker earlier today to have a second opinion. The previous dentist told me I had two cavities, and was charging a large amount for fillings. I'm 37 years old and have never had cavities before in my life. Though I knew that I might have a couple, by this point. I wanted to find out how much he would charge to fill them. I was pleasantly surprised when he told me he didn't see a single cavity! I asked him about a specific area on one of my molars. He said it was just a pin-sized hole in the sealant, and not the tooth itself. He offered to replace the sealant for free!... Which he did, right then and there. He also only charged me minimally for the entire appointment. If you're looking for a dentist who is not in it only for the money, I recommend Dr. Meeker. His staff is also extremely friendly and sincere. Allie, at the front desk has always been kind and very helpful during the multiple phone conversations and face-to-face interaction. I am writing this review for my boss, Casey. She does not have a Yelp but was SO IMPRESSED with Dr. Meeker that she insisted I let the Yelping world know! After having issues with several other dentists, Dr. Meeker was recommended to Casey and she is so happy he was. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable and precise, but is the nicest guy! He even called her last night personally to ask her how she was feeling after she had work done. The staff is wonderful, the office is clean with all the latest technology, she had all her options laid out and Dr. Meeker discussed all of them with her in detail so she could make the best choice, AND the prices are so reasonable! Dr. Meeker is as good as it gets! I was introduced to Dr. Meeker by my childhood orthodontist almost 25 years ago. I am now 39 and I live outside of California. When possible, I have scheduled my dental appointments to occur during my visits back to California so I can make sure my mouth stays in good health; and, if I need any work done, it will get done well and without pain. I have had many fillings due to love for sugar and teeth grinding have NEVER experienced pain while under Dr. Meeker's care or under the care of his hygenists. I have fillings ranging from 5-20 years old and I can only think of one that has needed replacing due to wear and tear. Dr. Meeker installed a gold crown about a year ago. It was also painless and the crown feels like my original tooth. The point is that Dr. Meeker is EXCELLENT at what he does and he gives his patients quality 1:1 care as necessary, and not prematurely. He knows what treatments are best for you and you will not find better care in the Southern California area. I am an international student in Pasadena, and have the basic school health insurance that does not cover for dental care. So when my wisdom teeth started to swell and hurt, I was terrified how much it would cost and if I could find a good dentist. A friend of mine referred me to a good dentist she knew, but it was all the way in Torrance and they said they could only examine me a week later because they were so booked. i needed somewhere close that was good so I decided to check out some reviews on yelp. Based on Imran H.'s review, I related to the situation he had and decided to give Dr. Meeker's place a try. When I called, they gave me an appointment first thing the next morning, and also gave me a good idea of how much my examination might cost. The staff were all very professional and friendly. The atmosphere of the office was great! Dr. Meeker himself was also very friendly and gave me a very reasonable price knowing that I did not have insurance. Because I am in my finals, have graduation in a week and a half, plus am moving to DC right afterwards, he suggested me to wait on pulling my wisdom teeth till I settle down in DC, instead of pulling it at his place. He referred me to a great dentist in DC, which he said was his best friend and also his personal dentist that he trusts to do all the work on his teeth. I was so happy with the price and the examination that I ended up getting my teeth cleaned as well. It took about 45 mins, and I was out feeling great with my teeth clean, and antibiotics that would help my gum swell around the wisdom teeth. I hate doctors, and am very picky with where I go. (Usually I go once and tend to not like them in many cases.) It is such a bummer that I am moving because I would gladly come back to this place for any dental care if I were staying in this area. This is a review of a "service" I received several years ago, but it has bothered me all these years and I feel people should know. Moreover, this dentist should know that patients are not stupid and should not be taken advantage of. The first time I visited this dentist, he took X-rays and told me he saw "something" in a filling that had recently been treated by another dentist. I thought that was odd since it was the newest of the ones done by one dentist that I had been going to since childhood. I had to find a new dentist since l could no longer make the drive out to OC. So there I was at Dr. Meeker's and got talked into him drilling into that tooth that felt just fine. He drills into it, fills it and immediately after the numbing wears off, that tooth becomes sensitive. I go back to him a week later and Dr. Meeker says, his drilling must've touched a nerve on the tooth and I am going to need a root canal - like that was just a thing that happens all the time. I really felt that he had planned for this and messed with a perfectly fine (albeit filled) tooth, and I was taken advantage of. I went and found another dentist that actually didn't want to do a root canal right away, they told me to wait a couple of weeks to see if the refilled tooth would settle. It never did and I ended up having to have a root canal just because this dentist was after a profit. I guess at least I took my root canal business elsewhere more deserving... read more

As a recent transplant to the area, I was in the market for a new dentist. Dr. Meeker and his staff were above and beyond what I wanted and needed in a dental experience. The staff is welcoming, kind, and are service oriented. In the last couple of months I had an emergency crown and three dental implants put in. Dr. Meeker masterfully sculpted my crown and placed my implants in with minimal pain. The good doctor comes across as a perfectionist and it shows in the time he takes ensuring that everything is just right. I had a horrid experience with Dr. Meeker. You should read it I had an emergency in that the temporary tooth that Dr. Meeker put in about six or seven months ago broke. This is the third or fourth time that it's come off but this is the first time it's actually broken. I called him on emergency (for which his website indicates his availability) and for which I had never been charged before. I explained to him yesterday, Saturday that it was an emergency in that I had to go to adonation gala on Sunday. Dr. Meeker called me on Sunday one hour before our agreed upon appointment and said he was going to charge me $200.00 extra. Never mind that every time the temporary fell out, it seems to have been a weekend, and he came in to his office, very pleasant saying he lived really close so it was no problem for him. Thinking of our history, I said Dr Meeker, you have never charged for emergencies regarding failure of your "temporary" on the FRONT temporary (which hides 2 teeth he has drilled and had me live with continually for about 6 dmonths!) I asked him why he was being so different with me. He mumbled something that his staff wdnt be there and said that he didn't think that I thought it was an emergency, etc. (Can you believe that??!) I said it was an emergency and why. Shocked at what seemed to be in bad faith, I said I wd have to talk to my husband about the sudden $200. extra charge. I emphasized that we weren't made out of money, but we were going to a fundraiser, a non fancy "gala" that we had already paid for to donate to a place that helps anybody to go to a free, dignified house for the people who had no place to go when faced with death and dying to go their, and for free, have a dignified death. I said that it was also an emergency because 2 front teeth spaces that the "temporary" covered up were now completely visible. Wouldn't you think a dentist would understand that I was now trapped and since it was just after noon, dentists who were open half day would all be closed. He told me to call him back (after talking to my husband about whether we could pay an additional $200.00 that Dr Meeker was insisting on just an hour before my agreed upon emergency appointment) and leave a message on his phone because he was leaving for someplace. Never mind that I had told him on Saturday that it was a emergency I was having, we agreed it was an emergency, regarding an old "temporary" that had fallen off some 3 to 4 times before. That the emergency included that I had to go to a donation supported "gala" for the free home like place for death and dying. On Saturday, Dr. Meeker said that, if I had the broken 2 parts of the "temporary, (which I did) he could fix it on Sunday (the next day). As usual for the emergency repair of the "temporary" no fees were discussed because there never had been a fee of any sort for repairing or re-glueing the temporary. Why did I have need to have the "temporary" reglued, and now, repaired? It was supposed to be for covering up the space for only 2 months. However, Dr. Meeker kept looking at the implant and saying it needed another month to heal. After 6 months, he still said nothing about taking an imprint for making a crown to attach to the implant for that tooth. Instead, he worked on another tooth. When he started drilling the 3rd crown, it felt to me as if her was out of control and drilling all over my crown, like a mad man! And this, before knowing what his charges would be to finish the 2 front teeth, I started to get really, really nervous and blurted out something like, Dr Meeker, OCD (short for obsessive compulsive disorder). Dr Meeker has said he has OCD, to my husband and me, about his making some amazingly complicated lamps and showed us photos on his computer of a beautiful chair he hand made. He added that his handy work on the intricate items showed that he is a man without a life. Back to Sunday: I returned the call and left voice mail saying that it is sad to me, how he is treating me so differently. That we can't go to his office and pay a new and sudden charge of $200.00 for a "temporary" that is so old that having it suddenly break (he checked it and had to reglue it about 2 or 3 weeks ago) is likely. I explained that this means we will not be able to go to help fund and otherwise support an organization (after the Swedish model for every town having a wonderful home and home environment to be able to go for death and dying, for anyone.) I said that (as his refusal to fix my temporary without extra payment indicated) I would be in at 9:00 Monday (tommorow) unless I hear back from him. Haven't hear back yet. It's 2 pm. I look sort of like a freak (I tend to smile a lot). I am staying home all day because I'm very sad, have a lot of anxiety over Dr. Meeker's sudden mean, defensive & aggressive actions. I feel self conscious, and abused by Dr. Meeker's unprofessional conduct. So I'll be home all day read more

I went to see Dr. Meeker for a second opinion.I choose him because he has reviews of people that have gone to him for years. I went because I was in terrible pain and the dentist that was doing my work was refusing to finish treatment. I meet Dr. Meeker and he is such a nice man he answered all my questions and was super helpful.His assistant also a very nice. I have an HMO so I knew I was going to have to pay for the office visit. Disclaimer: This is a review for a service given more than 20 years ago by Dr. Meeker. He may have improved tremendously since. I was a student at the time. Dr. Meeker sent out a "welcome to the neighborhood" mailer and I thought I'd try him out. Dr. Meeker gave me my first root canal, which I will never know if it was truly necessary. He stopped the procedure in the middle, with my root drilled out and no filling, to go on a lunch break, and had me come back after lunch to complete the procedure (with a fresh shot of Novocaine). The root canal job was so shoddy that it had to have been drilled out and redone by an oral surgeon a few short months later. read more

I have moved from Pasadena to three different areas in LA in the past 16 years but never thought about changing my dentist. He is skillful, caring, honest, professional and absolutely wonderful! I Yelp messaged Dr Meeker because I needed to get my four erupted wisdom teeth extracted. Another person had quoted me $500 for each tooth. I visited his office and he gave me a way better quote. He said my extractions are "simple" and he can do it the same day. Since his quote was so much better and I was ready, we moved forward with the procedure. Within the hour all four wisdom teeth were out and I was on my way home. Here is everything that I liked about Dr Meeker: 1. He contacted me personally to ask me to come into the office. 2. He was very thorough and careful to make sure that I was completely numb before beginning the extractions. 3. He hid his tools from me which is good because I don't want to see those tools. 4. I appreciate that he advised me to allow him to take X-rays to make sure that my teeth did not touch my nerves. My teeth did not touch the nerves which is why I had simple extractions. 5. The procedure went well and was pain free. Note he warned me that I would feel pressure. 6. He kept his word and gave me a great deal on the procedure. 7. He and his staff showed me compassion and respect. Bottom line is I had a great experience and I highly recommend Dr Meeker. Thank you Dr Meeker! read more

I'm new to the US and new to Pasadena and here only for few months, hence I don't have a dental insurance. I had a severe pain near the wisdom tooth and I didn't know where to go, which dentist is good and how the system really works in the US. I looked up online and found a few dentists, one of them being Dr. Meeker. I read a lot of reviews online and was really interested to find a negative review, but didn't find one for Dr. Meeker. I took an appointment and was taken care of very nicely. All the immediate treatments and the next steps were explained clearly with the costs associated to it. He told me I had a tooth decay that was causing the pain and not the wisdom tooth. And immediately performed the root canal on that tooth. Since I went without insurance, he offered me the lowest price for different procedures and even waived off some charges completely like x-ray fee or sedation fee etc. Overall I felt satisfied, his rates are in the mid-high range but as they say "all good things come with a price". He seemed to be very experienced, as I didn't feel anything in my root canal surgery which happened first. I still need to go back for my impacted wisdom tooth extraction. read more

Dr.Meeker is 5 stars! When he first met my husband, who has hypertension, he checked his blood pressure. Never seen a dentist do that before! After a few visits, I noted him to be experienced and intelligent with a wonderful "bedside manner". He is thoughtful and he doesn't push pricey and unnecessary procedures on you. I've never been to a better dentist in all my life. The staff is friendly and the office is clean and welcoming. I'm one of those people who try and find any excuse not to go to the dentist. After visiting Dr. Meeker for a root canal problem, I find myself looking for reasons to go back. It felt like visiting a family member who genuinely cares for my wellness. I also appreciate that the doctor looked at the results of my exrays and tests with me as opposed to reviewing in his office and coming into to tell me later. Everything was quick painless and actually enjoyable. They had noise canceling headphones that I could plug into my phone and listen to pandora while they drilled. Excellent bedside manner. If you like standoffish and sterile, I recommend Dr. Meeker. They screen patients based on patient surveys. If you give them not so hot feedback, they will flat out refuse you as a patient. They have a harsh missed appointment policy too. If you want a friendly and positive customer experience, look elsewhere. These guys are harsh! read more
