I really liked this hotel, the beds were heavenly, the rooms were clean, the conference rooms/ballrooms are spacious, the lobby is very chic and I liked the bar (a lot), If there's a ding to all this goodness is having a not so pleasant experience when I asked this gentleman by the station close to the front desk - I felt he wasn't all enthused with me asking if my party had already arrived for the evening. Maybe he's not having a good day or might have had a long day but for someone who used to worked in Luxury Hospitality - his attitude was unacceptable - I'm not going to give it a pass as for one thing, the rooms weren't cheap and I was expecting top notch service. I have to give props to the ladies in the front desk though, they were so sweet and accommodating they definitely pacified my annoyance with my experience with that "gentleman" . Anyway, this hotel is quite nice, I just hope they improve customer service to my bone of contention. Disappointing. read more

I've stayed at better 2 star hotels. Double bed room was a value for the area at $130 + $32 for parking. Room looked okay until I went to make coffee and found moldy tea bags waiting for me. One last thing to keep in mind if you choose to stay here. If you pay the $32 per night for parking, you'll need to keep a room key (no one tells you this) in order to get out of the parking lot for the last time. We ended up waiting at the gate, pressing the button for assistance, waiting 5 minutes and going back inside only to be told to go back out and press the button again. Or wait in line at check-in for a room key for the room we just checked out of? Anyhow, the parking situation could use some work. I'll stay at another Marriott, but probably not this one. read more

You might expect getting nickel-and-dimed to death at a Motel 6, but at a Marriott, where you're already paying a premium room rate? Everything in the room was as described. Man in charge of breakfast is always on top of things and very attentive. 10/10 Only giving 4 stars because of parking pass situation. When we checked in, we weren't aware of the need for a parking pass, and had to come back to the front desk the next morning to ask for one. We parked overnight without one and thankfully didn't get towed, like what the pass said. Will definitely come back though if I'm ever in the area again. I stayed at this property recently and liked it a lot. The hotel had a great airy clean feel immediately when you walk in and feels open and spacious. The rooms were extremely nice, and the bedding was very comfortable. It was very spacious, and also had a clean airy feel. Everything had an updated feel with plugs and USB ports all around the work area. The staff was very friendly and polite and they were welcoming as you walked in --there is also a concierge in the lobby. The hotel has a full-blown Starbucks inside with a restaurant/bar area tucked to the side in the lobby and open to outside. There was plenty of parking in the lot immediately outside, and valet if you prefer. Regular parking was $32 per night. Overall a great spot to stay though is a bit out the way if you wanting to be by the ocean. read more

Stayed in a suite -- the ceilings were extremely low & the bathroom was so small (no water closet). No ceiling fan either The halls seemed outdated. The ceiling height was a reminder that the hotel must of been renovated. The style of the room/lobby is appealing, but the room just didn't feel home-y or cozy at all. I was just here this weekend with family to attend a retreat and professional conference. We didn't stay overnight in this hotel since my family is based in North Orange County, and it is too close to home for us to want to stay overnight at a hotel. Even though we were here as Retreat participants and conference guests, we were still very impressed with the hotel services and the welcoming ambience! All of the staff members who served food and drink during the conference were extremely friendly, professional and courteous! We loved how there was complimentary water and iced tea during the evening reception on Saturday. And the fancy appetizers were a very nice treat! For guests who wanted wine and other speciality drinks, those options were available at the bar for purchase. Another very nice aspect of this hotel is that it is so close to John Wayne Airport, and there is an airport shuttle from this hotel that goes to and from the airport! The only pet peeve is that you have to pay for self-parking at this hotel, which can be anywhere from $23-27 per day. read more

The upside is they are very clean, but that is standard Marriot across all their properties, nothing special there. The last time, I will stay here. I went to the Marriott for a banquet on this past Friday night. The salad had been sitting on the table over an hour prior to people entering the room. A small plate of room temperature lettuce sitting on a plate was very unappetizing. They served a small piece of chicken on top of many different sauces squirted on the plate making for a very disagreeable taste. Many people left their food and just ate bread. The dessert was awful and I love sweets. Maybe it was just the one I got as a few other people at my table had a different one. The cream for the coffee had been sitting out as long as the salad and literally coagulated in my coffee. The Marriott should be thoroughly embarrassed. I have been to countless events and have never seen such poor quality catering. I would never recommend having an event here. read more

I was here for 2 nights and would call it a 3.5 star stay. It's a quick trip from the airport and has a beautiful lobby. I got in early afternoon and was happy to get a room right away. The person at the front desk was very friendly and offered me a bottled water. They also have fruit infused water in the entry which is a nice touch. My room was nice and contemporary I did have an issue with the room though. Most of the lights are motion activated and are not on a very long timer. The main lights shut off when I was reading in bed and the bathroom lights shut off each morning when I was taking a shower! I'm all for being green, but you shouldn't have to shower in the dark! I went to the bar one evening with a group. We sat in a booth and pulled a couple of chairs up to fit a few extra people. They told us we needed to pull the chairs in further due to fire code which we did. Everything seemed fine until someone else came up and told us we had to move completely. They should've just said that right away instead of waiting until we were all settled in and had ordered. They did move us to another table, but it was an annoyance. I only looked at trip advisor before booking here, and it was a huge mistake. There was urine on the toilet, and dead insects on the table. I wiped down everything in the room with a cleaning wipe, and it was completely dirty. This place isn't sanitary and should be avoided. Dear Marriott Hotels - I always thought that your hotels were a bit on the high-end, where visitors could come to get some peace ald relaxation. You certainly charge a high enough rate for your rooms. Your hotel is no longer a restful and peaceful place to relax. Your hotel is unsafe for children because it appears to lack proper levels of security. This year, I stayed at your hotel (May 2014) while you hosted the 2014 CaliFur Convention. When I entered the hotel, there were hundreds (250+) of people standing, sitting, and laying around on the ground of the hallway. When I asked the front desk what convention was going on, the front desk clerk mentioned that it was a CaliFur party. When I asked what a Furry Party was, the clerk only responded with it being a dress up party! How FUN! Well, at least on the surface. Note, I have nothing against people or organizations who engage in Furry activities. I enjoyed meeting blue unicorns, blue foxes, silver dragons, tan foxes, white dogs, etc. Everyone was super friendly! However, I do have a problem with the management staff who cannot control the unruly and outrageous "parties and events" that go on in the hotel rooms. I smelled all kinds of things throughout the night from outside of my room - bongs, flavored cigarettes, and marijuana. It was not me who partook in these products, but my guess was that it was the people from the conference. My thought was that if the Marriott staff cannot control their guests in the lobby and ballroom hallways, they certainly aren't going to control their guests on the upper floors. Why bother calling security? Why the frustration? One year ago, there was another conference during my stay with very drunk guests. It was not pleasant to see drunk guests passed out in the elevators. Two years ago, there was a cheerleading competition for what looked like 12 - 14 year olds and the ~400 guests were staying at the hotel cheering into the late night (11:00 p.m.+). "The White Brick Road" Ambulated into the Marriott for the Starbucks located inside (so loving the Flat White Coffee Concoction---no it's not Viennese Melange but pretty close). The Staff was welcoming from the Valet Attendant upon arrival (wearing his vermillion/nightshade outfit complete with hat and Cheshire cat smile). Walking through the main lobby it was a challenge to keep focused traveling directly to Starbucks as the marital play of variegated light onto the renovated lounge demanded attention, as if screaming in unison "try me." So we followed the white brick road which illuminated the way to the lounge (Starbucks was not open for a caffeine infusion) but we were directed by Martin (our Host) to trendy white booth in the lounge that offered a great system called Kallpod. Basically I pressed a button and seconds later a table got cleaned or a check was presented (yes they had tech!). The location of our booth offered "more than a peak" view of Noah Needleman on his electric guitar, his vocals were haunting as my coffee cup (Home Brewed Marriott Carafe) was suspended in air and below its' companion Churro Bread Pudding with its three dipping sauces of honey, chocolate syrup, and a delightful caramel. In awe we listened to Noah's rendition of Bono's "All I want is You." After this amazing set a quick glance round led way to knowing grins and smiling faces of Irvine suited professionals. Lounge was packed---who knew it was a sleepy Thursday in a Airport/Business area of Irvine. I took a few humble photos of the lounge, Noah and the entry (recently renovated for 5 million dollars) and vowed to return, felt like a VIP in the house instead of a lowly patron disguised in cycling gear (Hi Guys remember me...Gotcha!) I am definitely coming back (Like I escaped my book cave for this one). Well worth it. Be sure to call ahead for seating on Thursday as it got busy. Check in - The check in process was really fast and the front desk lady was extremely nice! Ambiance - Upon entering the hotel it's a beautiful view of palm trees, excellent decor and a extremely well kept pieces of art throughout. The room service - I ordered breakfast and lunch which the food was really good but the presentation is not what I was expecting. The food is delivered in a bag like takeout order and if I'm ordering room service I expect for it to be laid out especially if I'm paying 25 bucks for a cheeseburger. The parking - definitely over priced , being that it's Irvine and not New York City the parking shouldn't be 33 bucks a night; the overall rating of the hotel is not even 4 stars but you're charging 4 star hotel pricing for parking. read more

I started enjoying the hospitality at this hotel a couple years before the pandemic when I have business in the area. Each and every visit has been consistently an experience that has me looking forward to the next opportunity to stay here. Last night was no exception when I was kindly greeted by Mikiki at the front desk. She treated me like a platinum member (I am not-yet) and accommodated my reasonable requests like it was her pleasure. Marriott in general has long been known for excellent customer service but it takes an intuitive employee to take hospitality to the next level. Friendly staff and spotlessly clean, decent (though bordering on threadbare and slightly worn out) rooms. So why the low rating? First, the property charges an EXORBITANT overnight parking charge of $20.00. Yes folks, TWENTY DOLLARS to self park your car in outdoor, uncovered parking lot. Ridiculous. Second, this is one of those cheap properties where the management shuts off the air conditioning in the rooms at night so you will be sweltering. I know we all need to save some money but hotels that try to save a buck at their customers' expense really irks me to no end. I'm paying a lot to stay in your hotel so I should at least expect to be comfortable temperature-wise. I have a feeling I'm going to get some response from the management about how they don't shut off the air but trust me, they do. I travel A LOT and I can count on one hand the hotels that do this. They think their guests won't notice because it's in the middle of the night but when I wake up sweating at 3 am and the a/c vents are blowing lukewarm air, you know it's one of "those" offending properties. I hate that and I feel like it's my mission to warn other travelers. NEVER again. You have been warned. read more

This review is for their conference/ ballrooms. I attended a seminar here this week for work and let me just say that the setup for conferences is pretty awesome. First of all, there's an LCD screen welcoming you into the conference room hallway with a list of seminars/ workshops going on for the day and which rooms they were in. The food served during my workshop was mostly snacks during the afternoon consisting of cheeses, dried fruits, nuts, Starbucks coffees, Tazo teas, ice cold sodas, and water. There was a happy hour, which I did not attend, (I know right, Trina D. not drink? Blasphemy!) where a FULL bar was brought into the ballroom. There was a hot pasta bar served too, which I didn't stay to try either. I guess after a long afternoon of discussion inside a ballroom with 100 regulatory people, I wasn't feeling it. Next time folks, next time. I must say, that the restrooms are immaculate. There are towels, feminine products, and tissues set aside for you in the restroom should the need arise. Parking was validated by the workshop people if you parked in the correct lot. Look for the signs for the Marriott Visitor parking and that was the lot I ended up in which was incidentally the closest to the conference/ ballroom hallway where I needed to be anyway. I definitely wouldn't mind attending another workshop here. The environment is conducive to learning and the amenities aren't too shabby either. read more

This Marriott is about 4 miles away from fashion Island shopping center. It is in an industrial, commercial area. It is easy to find right off Jamboree. As you walk into the lobby there is a restaurant and a bar. The restaurant is very clean, the rooms were also very clean and neat. The staff was very helpful. Our rooms overlooked the pool and spa area. We had dinner at the restaurant and the food was very good, and the service was excellent. The cocktails were not bad either. Of course all hotels have parking charges now for your car. read more

We booked the hotel for Tesla destination charging but the gas car was parked in EV spot. So we had to find Tesla supercharger at night. The gas car was parked in an EV zone and hotel management didn't know who's car it is. Plus when I asked them to tow gas the car which parked in tow zone they won't tow it. Awesome right! 2. The parking fee is $35/night which is fucking robbery 3. Charging speed is 8miles/hr which is ridiculous 4. We booked a room for 4 people and the bed size double bed which is a joke 5. Bottled water is $7 6. Normal Wifi is for a fee, is your hotel in Antarctica? 7. Coffee Keurig started leaking when we started to make the coffee 8. There is no microwave in the room, when we asked for one it took 24hrs to bring one 9. There is no exhaust in the bathroom and there is no lock in the bathroom 10. When I went for dinner the server took 10mins to greet the customer and serve water. On top of that, the silverware on the table was unclean. We are amazed that your hotel is 3 stars. I stayed here for a couple of nights recently, and have a mixed opinion of the place. It was ok, but I don't know that I would stay again. Location: it's in the middle of a business park. Not much around. It's also situated right up against a major freeway, with the airport on the other side. That translates to "omg it's so noisy!" I had a corner room, overlooking the freeway. This is not a room you want. 2 reasons: 1) the freeway noise is awful (imagine the sound of trucks driving through your room... sounds like that), and 2) the other side of the wall is the service elevator/area. Also quite noisy, and all day and night. the service elevator squeaks loudly, the staff bangs stuff around. it's not pleasant. Room: small. the bedroom part is ok. not spacious at all, but it'll do. parts have been redone and are fine, but some furnishings are clearly quite old. i had a nasty worn out dirty arm chair in my room, that looked just gross. carpet on the other hand, looked nearly new. weird. Beds: ok, so inconsistent I guess. I had a king bed, and it was one of the most comfortable hotel beds i've found in years. and i am picky. it was great. my kid stayed in a double room, and said their beds were horribly uncomfortable... she even tried sleeping backwards to see if that was better. and she's not picky. she hated it. Bathroom: teeny tiny. the doorway is so narrow that you have to turn sideways to go in. seriously. you have to do a bit of maneuvering to stand at the sink without tripping over the toilet. it's the smallest hotel bathroom i've ever seen. oh, and there is a drop ceiling in the bathroom. that weirded me out a bit. service: fine. everyone was pleasant. nothing outstanding, but no complaints either. parking: $20 for self parking read more

We tried to call the hotel multiple times to change the reservation due to an emergency, but whomever was the associate on the other side kept letting the phone ring, picked up the phone, and immediately hung up. This is highly unprofessional and is incompetent in customer service. Luckily, we called Marriott customer service and they took care of us. We normally have great experiences with the Marriott brand, but this experience was so bad that we will make sure to specifically avoid this location. I wasn't impressed - seemed dated; didn't match the look/feel of the hotel, especially after walking through the lobby , Convenient that a Starbucks was located inside. Across the hotel is Specialties. I had an opportunity to eat breakfast and dinner at the restaurant. Mediocre. Their patio with fire pits attracts the locals to hang out on a Thursday night. The rooms are nice but simple and most importantly seemed very clean. Ordered a couple of small salads and fries and they went great with a couple of cold beers. Some nice indoor and outdoor space to relax and hangout. Staff was amazing. Polite, quick to help and friendly. The room rate was fantastic as well. I expected so much more from a Marriott. Biggest thing I have to say is RUDE staff. We complained about the unexpected high price of the parking and were laughed at and ridiculed by the check-in person. I wrote to Marriott with my complaint only to have them forward it to a manager at the hotel. He then emailed me to say he was "Sorry I thought the parking was too high." He then told me their parking rate was normal and they were justified in charging $35 a night for parking. I won't be wasting any more money on the upkeep of their parking lot. It's been a while since I've experienced such pure joy and genuine care from a human at a hotel. Able exudes a heart of service and a care for the guests. The rooms are small, but updated. Parking is confusing and pricey at $24/day for self park. The elimination of traditional room service with "bites" lowers the Marriott hotels to really a 3.5 Star rather than a true 4 Star Hotel with room service. The room service is very limited. The hamburger is ok. The wedge salad is a regular salad in a plastic container. Someone needs to get the head of Marriott off drugs to see what they've done. read more
