This is an incredibly cute shop with so much to see, housed in what once was a stately old home whose charm is still apparent as soon as you walk through the door. Interested in clothing and accessories? Check. Love the "shabby chic" look? Check. Hoping to pick up a piece of whimsical home decor? Check. Looking for vintage finds? Check. This quaint, two-story home decor shop seems to hit a home run in many areas. The only real faults I found were with the prices on things like clothing and jewelry (especially the clothing). I don't want to be critical, but the clothes in their "Ragg's Boutique" were pretty basic numbers from a bunch of no-name designers at inflated prices. I mean, $160 for a plain tunic? Come on. This isn't New York or Chicago, it's Holly. I know these types of shops have a high overhead and all, but the prices were a bit out of touch. How many people are willing to spend $160 on something that they can easily pick up for a fraction of the price somewhere else? Also, I thought most of the clothes were kind of "matronly" (sorry) or too nondescript for my taste. I found the bulk of it to be second-rate designs at first-rate prices. It just wasn't my cup of tea, but it might be someone else's. It just seemed mildly pretentious to me. As for the rest of the store, there was a lot to see, including on the second story, which is very cramped and narrow, so not too many people can comfortable shop up there at one time- just saying. If you turn around too fast, you risk knocking something over. I know, I did just that! It was incredibly crowded up there, with vintage finds peeking out at me at every turn. It might be a bit too crowded, in fact. The walkway is tight and the old wooden flooring uneven, so take note. Despite the tight squeeze, I found plenty of "shabby chic" style decor, which I just so happen to love, from vintage signage and antique doorknobs rescued from old homes to painted tiles and upcycled windows from 19th century buildings and more. Some of it was surprisingly well-priced, while other pieces were in the higher-end range. No doubt because they were from different shop vendors (Pigeon in the Parlour houses several individual vendors), which probably accounts for the wide ranges in pricing. Some of the more traditional line of home decor accents were very reasonably priced, including candles, soaps, wall art, knick knacks, dishes, etc. I especially loved a line of metal dragonfly hooks and some cute resin bunny statues. We picked up some candles and soaps, but I left without that dragonfly hook and now I regret it. Since chalk painting is all the rage right now, I found a fairly large line of reasonably-priced chalk paints and a new "salt wash" mix, including some small starter kits. My husband and I both do a lot of DIY projects, so we were interested and took a gander at what they had in stock. The lady waiting on us told us that we can order from them, even if we aren't in the store, since we don't live in Holly. That was nice, I thought. She talked up this new "salt wash" additive and showed us how it worked with paints and gave us a brochure to read up on it. I have to admit, it looked intriguing, so I think we might order that sometime soon. As for the customer service, it veered between good and slightly odd. I noticed one of the employees following other people (not me) around the store in an annoying, clingy fashion. I couldn't tell if she was worried they were shoplifters or if she was just heavily invested in making a sale. Who knows? Nonetheless, the lady that waited on me seemed pleasant and knowledgeable, if not overtly friendly. Like I said, this store has a lot of interesting pieces and the unique character of the building only enhances the shopping experience. I even signed up for email list for customers to receive updates on products and sales.

This store is a MUST on your list when visiting Holly. The shop has a lot of unique items and the sales crew are very helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back!!

I love supporting a local smaller business. I'm originally from Royal Oak and I have to say they help bring that hometown feel to Clarkston. They also have a great Midland store that's has furniture flying off their floor since the Dam damage this past year in Midland. They are always patient with me making decisions too. Never have I felt pressured to buy anything but I must say what they carry & I buy brings my home to a whole different level of elegance with some earthy rustic classy touches I was looking to add. Check the out .... excuse my Unfinished sectional room but we are basing the whole room off of it now it's here permanently. Oh and did I forget to say they have design services ...that's truly their main objective to offer to help you iron out those rough design edges to bring it all together. I can't say enough about them and their quality of the whole experience and quality and knowledge! Thank you Again for helping my husband and I find the perfect piece!

This tiny little shop (and I mean TINY) was abuzz with customers jockeying around trying to look at the merchandise. It was so crowded, it was practically impossible. At first, I thought the place was packed. In truth, there were probably only six people inside, but it was at least four too many. This store is small! There's really only room for two shoppers at most during any given moment. It's a shame because the shop is cute. They sell a lot of "upcycled" and DIY steampunk creations. If you know anything about steampunk style, you realize the amount of ingenuity, craftsmanship and creativity necessary to bang this stuff out and, furthermore, you can appreciate it for being art. The stuff is lovely, unusual and well-crafted- and highly breakable. Honestly, I didn't feel terribly comfortable navigating all of that fragile gear and I'm tiny. What the heck would one do if they weren't so small? My 6"4 husband felt compelled to wait it out on the sidewalk while I was shopping. That was probably a good idea. He felt claustrophobia coming on, anyway, and he isn't claustrophobic in the least bit (until he set foot in this store, so there's that). I was so afraid of accidentally knocking something over that it spoiled the mood to shop. I was interested in a piece of two because I like steampunk design and the small sculptures/art, tables, lamps and other decorative pieces looked really interesting, but it was impossible to turn around. They simply had too much stock on the floor and not enough room to walk, let alone browse. I found that to be a turnoff. I couldn't even bend over or turn around very well to look for the price tag on a side table that I liked. I think think the store could be better served if they removed just a tad bit of merchandise off the floor, making a little leg room instead of trying to capitalize on their limited space by stocking the place to the brim. It was simply too tight and not at all inviting. It's just simply not pleasant to shop that way. If I'm walking around a crowded estate sale with everything strewn all over the place, that's one thing. This is different. If the management had bothered to remove just one side table toppling over with additional merchandise from the sales floor, it might have made all the difference. As for customer service, there really was none of which to speak. The lady behind the counter seemed disinterested in the customers and ignored two people attempting to grab her attention. I watched them leave in disgust. I was tempted to ask her for the price of that little table that I thought was so adorable, but she didn't seem approachable, so I didn't bother. Perhaps she was overwhelmed by how crowded the store was with only half a dozen people shopping at any given moment? The few prices I could find seemed a bit on the higher end, but this was downtown Holly and the "upcycled" steampunk gear could be considered art, so it didn't seem out of line with my expectations. I would probably give this place another shot, but it would have to be pretty much devoid of other shoppers in order to have a better shopping experience next time.
