Due to Big Iron Construction's negligence, by not obtaining required permits from the city the permit fees have now doubled, sheet rock throughout the home needs to be removed exposing your work to be inspected. The roofing also needs to be inspected to verify the quality of Big Iron Construction's work costing me more money out of my pocket. Between the insurance company and the money paid out of my pocket your company has received over $114,000 dollars. Then there's the issue of the two party insurance check that you cashed knowing the check required my signature. We had a very complex renovation with many steps, so we asked a lot of questions beforehand to make sure that the scope of the project was understood. Benny was extremely attentive at that time, touted his vast experience, and said he had his own dedicated crew who could complete the project in just a few weeks. Fast forward, and it is apparent he has either lied about many things or is just in way over his head as a contractor. The project dragged on for months with endless delays, excuses, and no clear timelines. The crew was constantly changing, unreliable, and often didn't show up at all. The work that was done was inconsistent, had to be redone on many occasions, and left unfinished at the end of the day. At the beginning, however, he worked very fast in order to extract more of the payments from us. Once we realized that, after materials we had purchased, we had paid the full amount of the project already but the work was only halfway done, he had completely vanished. Now he will not answer our calls or texts to save his life. Who knows what he is doing meanwhile, this entire year we have been trying to live in a house filled with unfinished work and broken promises. It has been so stressful for us and our kids to have to go through this. To add icing on the cake, he is using the pictures of our renovation without our consent to try and swindle more money out of unsuspecting customers. It is a very low blow and just adds to our suffering. I have kept holding out for the chance that he will do the decent and honest thing and either complete the work or return our last payment to make us whole. We do not have the budget to complete the work for now and will have to keep suffering. But it is apparent he is not honest in his dealings and I feel so gullible for falling for it. To sum it up, this has been stressful, expensive, and frustrating. I am very upset at the dishonesty and lack of accountability. We were misled and abandoned mid-project instead of dealing with a trustworthy professional. So please avoid this contractor! Got so bad that numbers were exchanged and AJ took 2 days to respond and initiate the project. He responded due to my interior designer having to reach out to him. The communication was abysmal. That should have been my warning. The entertainment was done nicely but I was told they don't do wall paper finishes. The vendor (Ramico construction) at site asked where was my wallpaper or paint and I told him that AJ told me that you do not provide those services but the vendor told me that they do and that's the normal process when setting up the entertainment centers. So now I was lied to by AJ (Amar Construction). Now the bathroom, yes unfortunately I did two projects with this company. They placed the sink and did the plumbing. But when it came to the mirror they stated there wasn't an agreement on electrical wiring, but I know I stated I wanted an LED mirror so I bought one. Thinking it will be done properly, it was hung on 2 small screws in the wall and when I touched the light thinking it would turn on it didn't and started to sway. This can not only break one day by falling as well as my sink but also harm anyone in that bathroom when it does due to poor judgment calls and a lack of attention and awareness. A major safety issue. I asked Ramico to stop hanging the mirror since I wasn't happy with the upcharge price. AJ (Amar construction) took it upon himself and told them to proceed and that he was going to charge me anyways. Excuse me? This displays horrible communication and customer skills. I'm sorry but AJ didn't display any type of professionalism. I could go on and on about this experience. Even the mediation with him, my interior designer and I was unprofessional.
