Learning to drive with hand controls after years of driving with gas and brake pedals was extremely stressful for me, but Toni never made me feel rushed and her calm demeanor gave me the confidence to feel safe and comfortable with hand controls. I would highly recommend Toni Galyen to anyone looking for a patient, skilled and truly outstanding driving instructor.

The studio space is tidy, small but efficient for 8-10 people, with a section for potter's wheels,…read morea slop sink, storage shelving, a separate room for the kilns, and two butcher block work areas for slab creations or glazing. I was given classes at ArtYard as a gift several times, and each time by the end of the session, I vowed not to return. Have you ever experienced waiting in line somewhere while the associate chit chats with others, like you're not even there? You might have a question, but you're stuck, waiting, until they're good and ready to address you? And your inquiry is even brief, but you must wait? This is what it feels like taking a "class" at ArtYard - it's really more like you're renting the studio space for six weeks, which if you had acquired the necessary skills would be fine. I expected an attentive teacher walking around offering encouragement, tips and advice to students, and rooting them on, like the substitute that was there once, he was amazing! However, you must simply wait for a break in the conversation, say please, and not chew gum in class if you'd like help. Or to keep from idling, ask another student for help. One can be talented at what they do, but not have the heart of a teacher. (And yes, I understand that there is a certain amount of trial and error to creating art such as pottery: figuring things out, making your own mistakes, trying, trying again. I get that. I am a designer for a living.) Contacting the instructor - via phone, email or text - was unpredictable, you may or may not get a response. Sadly, I got to the point where I could take "the attitude" no longer: frustrated, upset, and humiliated, I walked out of the second class, and didn't return. And no one with the heart of a teacher would allow that to go unnoticed. But they did.

I've only been to the Squeaky Wheel once, but I'm already a big fan. They have a small, intimate…read moretheater downstairs, including a bar, so you can buy a beer while watching your movie. The films they show seem well-selected, all of which are independent. They also offer many workshops, such as flash animation and video editing. There is no option to register online and for a technology class, thats not good! It shouldnt take 2 weeks to even get a chance to talk to the director who apparently is the only person who has information about the workshops! By the way, i still have not receieved a return call from the director. At this point im not sure if i want to even take a workshop class here. The registration process is unacceptable, just havent found another option nearby home. 4 calls later, the director has not even attempted to reach out to me, guess they dont need my business. How disappointing! If i am able to register for a class before all the slots are taken, i will be sure to update my review. update- I finally was able to register my child. so I updated my review to 4 stars. Everyone super nice and it's affordable program. Cute production at the end of the program. Only wish it was longer with more options

We've belonged to three ballet studios (we've moved a few times) and have been here the longest. This school impresses me with the level of quality instruction starting with the youngest kids. At a previous dance studio, the "Pre-ballet" or "Ballet I" classes were taught by young college students (and even one high school senior) who were trying to get teaching experience. Here, every teacher we have had has been a professional and has instructed the kids as such. The atmosphere is caring and loving but also fairly serious. You are following in the footsteps of many dancers who have attended the school over 52 years and have gone on to dance careers. The Nutcracker performance sells out at UB every year, and the end of the year recital (also at UB) is an enormous production. This is not the YMCA's music and movement class. They offer ballet, pointe, acro, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, Broadway dance, jazz and tap, as well as adult ballet classes. The cost seems comparable to other dance studios in the area, and there is a discount for families. The school also offers camps in the summer, including a "Princess camp" for girls 8 and younger that seems very popular.
