Jessica has a business that does many things. And I think a "real job" too, but am not sure. She…read moremust have a fabulous garden, as many of the things we had in cooking class were from her garden she said. Pretty cool. I aspire to that type of garden. This year the tomatoes were a mess, but the kale and broccoli worked fairly well. Next year will be better I'm sure. Meanwhile, on to the review. I attended one of her cooking classes out at the Newman Center at UB. Skinnerville road or something like that. Thank goodness for GPS. The class featured a quinoa salad (similar to one I make at home already, but with some great additions, liked spiced cashews (YUM YUM YUM!) and pomegranate seeds, in season right now). Then there was a date concoction that seemed like dessert to me, but pretty much anything with a balsamic reduction can be a dessert. Some version of potato latkes, made with sweet potatoes rounded out the offerings. I wasn't part of making those and while I enjoyed eating them (you get to eat after the cooking!), cant comment much further. Its all vegetarian, and I'm pretty sure this meal was vegan as well, but not positive. Her website has a ton of great recipes, all plant based, and she presents them in a chatty and engaging way. I am looking forward to more of her classes. Very hands on, we all helped on various dishes. Shes pretty informal, so asks the class to divide themselves up. She does stop class throughout to share "helpful info, tricks, methods etc" that all will benefit from. And she almost sold me on a vitamix, but for now my Ninja is holding strong. If you already cook well and want to move to more vegetarian fare, her classes and website are a great place to look. If you don't cook well but want to learn more, these classes are great for that too. I'm working on a more plant based diet for the house, and this was perfect. 4-2017

You get to try some absolutely delicious and healthy dishes too! Jessica Altman has a great vibe about her! I know when I see her in action I just want to come back for more! Since we have added plant based items into our diet we have felt better and lighter! I hope you will take the time to go to a class and meet the garden fresh foodie and get inspired!

Two of my daughters attend various classes at the American Academy, so we are here 5 times a week…read more Compared to plenty of other families, that's pretty tame, which is a testament to the quality of instruction and enthusiasm for the craft here at this ballet studio. We've belonged to three ballet studios (we've moved a few times) and have been here the longest. This school impresses me with the level of quality instruction starting with the youngest kids. At a previous dance studio, the "Pre-ballet" or "Ballet I" classes were taught by young college students (and even one high school senior) who were trying to get teaching experience. Here, every teacher we have had has been a professional and has instructed the kids as such. The atmosphere is caring and loving but also fairly serious. You are following in the footsteps of many dancers who have attended the school over 52 years and have gone on to dance careers. The Nutcracker performance sells out at UB every year, and the end of the year recital (also at UB) is an enormous production. This is not the YMCA's music and movement class. They offer ballet, pointe, acro, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, Broadway dance, jazz and tap, as well as adult ballet classes. The cost seems comparable to other dance studios in the area, and there is a discount for families. The school also offers camps in the summer, including a "Princess camp" for girls 8 and younger that seems very popular.

The Nutcracker production at UB is quite the undertaking and they do it with Style, grace and flair. We plan on increasing our classes here next year!
