Delicious Pasties and the best fudge! Also the nicest lady works there. One of our first stops in Munising.

She gave us samples of the cream soda without us requesting it. It was delicious as well. She also gave me a sample of the stout beer with cream soda in it that really added to the flavor! We shared an order of scotch eggs that were ok. I had the Greek Gemstone pizza, that was delicious!! The BBQ ribs and pork chop dinner was also said to be very good. It a nice bar & grill. It decorated very nicely. But our server Katie really made our meal special. The prices were very reasonable.

We have enjoyed The Dunes Saloon forever as we have deep family history & a family home in town. I…read moreused to love getting the cream soda as a kid, but I've definitely graduated to being a fan of the beer. You cant go wrong with the pizza - sometimes it gets a little burnt (I'm not a fan of a very toasty pie, so this is very sad when it happens!) I also love their popcorn. They often have good specials on the board - got a great turkey club this summer! Their ranch is usually very good, too. I don't eat fish, personally, but everybody I know likes the whitefish options. Their house salad is good and comes with a lot of toppings, I do miss the ole salad bar. :'( As for the beer, I love their blueberry blonde. Their Harvest was GREAT but I never saw that this fall, not sure if I just missed it. (Please make that more!) I'm not a huge malty fan, so sometimes it is slim pickings (they only have space for a handful on tap at a time), but there is usually an option of two for me on tap. They do also have a full bar if you're more picky than I am or are just a fan of canned drinks/cocktails. The service is almost always good even if it can be a smidge slow at times. It can sometimes also be quite a wait for a table (with nowhere really to wait inside), it is only really a bummer to have no tables available when they won't open the back room, though. :/ Otherwise, it's understandable! Overall, I'm sure some of my love is nostalgia and vibes, but it really is a great option in town. *They do live music sometimes, the jukebox was free when we were in in the fall, so that was fun, too.

It is obvious that the owners, managers, and staff have either given up or don't care. The restaurant is no longer open, and with no continental breakfast offered, guests have no options. The cabins and rooms both leave you feeling dirty, and have less than the bare minimum. The pool has been closed for years, and the solution for the pool was to cover the windows with brown parcel paper. Out of sight out of mind, right? The hallway bathrooms are locked, with large spots of missing paint on them, and the hallway walls have numerous holes. There is a vending machine, but it has been unplugged, and pulled away from the wall. We opted to stay in the motel this time because the cabins were so disgusting and overpriced last time. In our room, #104, the majority of the problems, other than the dirty feel and having a very cold night because there wasn't a blanket on our bed, are in the bathroom. The shower has a large gouge in the wall, and a crack in the floor. The crack is probably due to a lack of support under the shower leaving a concave floor that collects water and sand. Furthermore, the part you pull to switch from bath to shower is stuck such that only half of the water comes out of the shower head. The maintenance guy couldn't fix it with pliers. And just to add insult to injury, they couldn't be bothered to replace the missing spindle for the toilet paper holder. All this wonderful luxury for merely a little over $100 per night. This place is a disgrace to the hospitality industry, and everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves.

Two of us tried it again many years later and discovered how truly dilapidated it had become. There is a You Tube video showing its current abandonment. It is a beautiful location so I hope someone reestablishes a resort there.

The coffee was decent, not mind-blowing, but it did the job. The mocha was a nice treat, though! The real highlight of this place was the staff. The baristas were super friendly, making the experience feel warm and welcoming. It's clear they enjoy what they do, and it shows in their service. While the food was solid, I'd say the bathroom could use a little more attention. It wasn't as clean as I'd hoped, but it didn't ruin the vibe of the place. One of the coolest things about Fall Rock Cake is the bookstore aspect. You can browse through a variety of books while enjoying your coffee or meal. It's the perfect spot to unwind, especially if you're a book lover! Overall, great atmosphere, friendly service, and a good place to relax and grab a bite.
