Went to grab some lunch and our original choice was closed on Wednesday. Wanted to try something we never had before so we came here on a recommendation and glad we did. Establishment is in the shopping area near GA44 and Old Phoenix. Clean and friendly place. Our waitress was Elizabeth and she was attentive and very helpful with the menu. I had the classic burger with cheddar cheese with Mac and cheese as a side. Well cooked and very flavorful. I'm a macaroni and cheese snob and their mac and cheese was really, really good. I just wish there had been more of it. My wife ordered the club sandwich with fries. Another well made dish and good portions. We thought we were done when Elizabeth asked about dessert. She talked about their in-house special buttermilk pie and the chocolate cake with ice cream. We tried both! The buttermilk pie is unique. It's hard to describe but it was smooth and velvety with a different but very good flavor. One of those once you try it you can stop eating it. Reminded me of eating a pecan pie without the pecans. The chocolate cake was excellent too; so moist and plentiful. If you're in the Lake Oconee area drop in and see these folks; you'll be glad you did. I had high hopes when the menu seemed to have both a southern and Cajun flair. But honestly I can't remember the last time I was this disappointed. We had a shrimp appetizer that tasted like frozen batter dipped from the supermarket with a good sauce on a bed of 5 pieces of lettuce. That's an important detail. We both got medium rare burgers. The meat came well done and without the veggies despite the staff making a point to be certain we wanted them. I asked for coffee. Staff was not sure they had any. My companion ordered half and half ice tea and got un-sweet. We asked for our burger toppings and were informed there may not be any left but they would check... They return with one slice of tomato and one leaf of lettuce for each burger Later before leaving I chose to use the bathroom I passed the large commercial coffee maker on the way to the unisex bathrooms. They were at least freshly cleaned. All in all a total waste of $60+ dollars. Even the portable credit card terminal started at 18% gratuity. This was such an awesome hidden gem!! Our servers were so sweet and truly made the experience worthwhile. Even though they actually got our orders wrong, they quickly fixed it- and were super helpful about the menu. All the food was delicious, and I loved my bacon pimiento burger. I have visited iron Fork Café on Harmony Crossing many times since I've lived in Greene County. My favorite item is the cheese, bacon burger! Always cooked to the right temperature! It is amazing! As far as service is concerned! The staff here is very very hospitable! And always makes me feel welcomed It's a bunch of young college people working! The Iron Fork Cafe has intrigued us for a while but it was always too busy when we arrived to eat there on the weekend. This time, we made it on a Thursday night at about 5:30 pm and were able to be seated. The restaurant was still pretty full, but service was prompt, even though our server let us know that she was new. They handled my gluten free questions easily and I ended up getting my old standby - blackened salmon, with Cole slaw and broccoli. My son had a country fried steak, collards and Mac n cheese. We were happy with our food, and the French Kiss martini was delicious! read more

My grandma has dementia and takes a minute to order, she's sweet, well spoken, just slow. The waitress apparently didn't like that and started treating us like a problem. I've been a bartender for 15 years and I understand your waitress is young, but that is no excuse for the attitude towards a customer with special needs. Got seated and had to wait to order till servers meeting was over (12 mins) ordered fried pickles they came out in a reasonable amount of time but ordered a melt burger and sat n sat 30 mins n it came out I looked at it and it was as thin as paper burnt to a crisp not one once of juice left in it and was a cheap frozen patty from grocery store so I waited 30 mins for a burnt frozen hockey puck for $14.00 I can tell you I have it back n left !! read more

I gave this restaurant a 2 because of the food. My taste buds may be different than yours. I took my girl and baby girl here just as a let's try It. We had the spinach dip which was eh and sweet sriracha shrimp which was decent sauce was very thin as if It was a little left and they added water to It. I had the fried shrimp which the breading was falling up when I dip It in the cocktail sauce, fried okra was over cooked, and I had fries which tasted like they fried those first then waited to cook the rest of the meal they were cold. My girlfriend had the chicken salad which she liked, and my baby girl had the kids grill chicken with fries and she didn't care for It. None of the food was seasoned not even with salt or pepper. I ordered takeout for me and my family and we were nothing but dissatisfied and disappointed. To start we were told it should take 30 minutes for the food to be out. We showed up after 40 minutes ready to pick it up and go but still had to wait 10 minutes for the food to be ready. The food was soggy and cold and dry. The fries tasted grainy from sitting out, the burger was dry and the bun soaking wet, the Caribbean chicken was chewy and way too sweet, the Mac and cheese was essentially over cooked pasta. The food had absolutely no flavor. Me and the fam were very disappointed. This place genuinely has as much flavor as a cardboard box. We should've went to McDonald's. read more

It's a different style of cookin... Interesting but different. I ordered the Cali Burger with collard greens and corn bread and fried green tomatoes for an appetizer. My sister had the Poboy! Had lunch here on Sunday and was quite good, still a touch bland but overall had a good experience.

This was our 5th visit in the past year and it just keeps getting better. We come here from Athens so we don't get here as often as we'd like. Today we had the fried green tomatoes (we'd already eaten them when I realized I hadn't taken the pic)....they were delicious, as always. The remoulade sauce served with them makes them even tastier. Our entrees were the fried shrimp with sides of fried okra and squash casserole plus the short rib sandwich with a side of fried okra. Dessert for myself was buttermilk pie. One noticeable thig is that everything is fresh cooked from scratch. Flavors were fantastic! A group of five had lunch here on a Sunday. They do not take reservations but you can call ahead and get your name on the list. That kind of threw us off because we watched multiple people come in and get seated before us. We finally inquired and were told you can call ahead. Lesson learned. After about a 30 minute wait we were seated and waited about 10 minutes for a server to come by and get our drink order. After waiting we decided we needed to order as she took our drink order. Both my wife and I got the veggie platter. We both got the fried okra and black eye peas. Both were delicious. I also got the creamed corn and collard greens. Both very good, especially the creamed corn. Tasted homemade with fresh shucked corn. My wife got the mac n cheese and squash casserole. She said they were good but nothing special.
