This was such a cute place! There isn't a lot of parking in the lot, but there seems to be plenty of street parking nearby. Service was really fast and all the workers were really sweet and helpful. Supporting local eateries and businesses is a big deal!! I'm not a big fan of food truck restaurants just because the service is slow and food isn't ever really amazing. But I came here since I was right down the street and to support local businesses. I got a steak skewer from Sidos and it was full of flavor!! The sourdough bagel blew my mind. I just wish they were organic, but I know you can pre-order Organic sourdough loafs from their website! Their sourdough starter IS organic too. I've seen this place before in passing and always thought it looked fun, and now I can confirm. There are a couple cute shops, but for me the main draw is the food. There's are around 7 different mini restaurants to choose from. There's a little something for everyone: Burgers, Mexican, Breakfast, Mediterranean, Asian. There was even a shop that was purely sourdough - bread, bagels, pretzels, a couple sandwiches, and what drew my attention, sourdough pizza. Unfortunately for me, today they hasn't prepped any pizzas. I took my broken heart over to the cargo cantina and ordered a carne asada burrito with chipotle salsa. The portion size was great and it's was delicious. And not to worry, if you need dessert, there's a container dedicated to ice cream. The only downside is the weather, seating is completely outdoors, so extreme weather would not be fun. read more

I wanted to try the iron district once again since there were some vendor changes and it was great. I tried the Cargo Cantina. The service was great and the server was very helpful. I chose the carne asada tacos. You get three to the order and I thought very flavorful. My friend ordered the mushroom burger and fries. Fries were great as well! Love the family environment. Stopped for lunch to check it out. Neat area and a handful of "food truck" style choices for lunch. We opted for Sido's mediteranean. $20 for a Gyro and fries was kinda pricy. They were out of water so substituted a room temperature can of soda for the $2.75 for the drink.... the one good thing was the gyro meat - it was probably the most tender gyro meat I've ever had, not a bit dry. But for $20 it better be the best gyro i've ever eaten! read more

Prices were around $20 each with drinks, which felt a little high but worth it for the quality. The food was solid, but the wait times were rough. Zaki took about 25 minutes just for a salad and a drink, and the BBQ spot took over an hour to get food out. It's a cute concept, but definitely not the place to go if you're short on time--weekday lunch during the workday is pretty much off the table. read more

I love eclectic spots like this that be good if your group wants different things. Here for instance you can get Mediterranean, tacos, ice cream, sandwiches, drinks... Every month I try to make it out to some unique spots in Kansas City, and Iron District made the list. This is such a nice addition to north KC. The vibes were on point - lots of comfortable seating and umbrellas to help shade in the sun. It looks like it was also dog friendly. There are containers that host small businesses from jewelry, to clothes, cocktails and dinner. There's also a bathroom in the back so you can stay and enjoy yourself. We happened to come on a trivia night which was a pleasant surprise. It seems like the owners of iron district try very hard to have fun events while providing an outdoor space to hangout. And the best part is hands down the cocktails and food and pleasant people manning their businesses. I tried a couple of cocktails from the tiki place - a bit pricey but they don't shy away from creativity and alcohol content. The star of the show for me was absolutely Loas House. I tried their burrito and my God, it was top notch. It's made with chicken thighs that are so tender and marinated I thought I was eating pork. Tons of sauce and fries to round out the experience. Totally blew my expectations and I had enough to eat on for two more meals. read more

There is also other shops that sell jewelry and handmade clothing. I highly suggest taking a break from the normal and enjoy the food and outdoor patio with ample seating. Stopped by The Iron District after J. Rieger's. Another Cool, fun outdoor bar and food vendors. It was packed in the lower(Main)area, our group found a couple tables up top on the patio/rooftop area. There are a few different Bar sections to order drinks and food vendors. We did not eat since we had so many appetizers. It was hot out but once the sun went down and it cleared out a bit it was nice. There was an area in the back that had corn hole and other games to play. This was such a nice place to catch up with a group of friends! It was a friday and there was a dj playing relatively loud music, but it was easy to move away and still have a great spot to hang out. What a clever concept! We came here on a gorgeous spring day and that probably had a lot to do with my high opinion of the place. But North KC is fortunate to have a chef collective like this. I don't think Overland Park or Leawood could get away with this concept of using shipping crates. (also, it's not just restaurants, they have a plant shop here too). We ate at Elephant Wings and it was delicious. I would highly recommend stopping here and supporting the small business owners here. read more

Came to check out the holiday pop-up bar at Tiki Huna: Deck the District. It was a pretty fantastic pop-up. Creative drinks, thorough theming and good crowd control/time management. I recommend a reservation and just be respectful of the time slots! The bartenders were friendly and talented. My favorite cocktail was the ... and I would also recommend the ... As always, tip your staff! Note: A few of the other restaurants were still open for food, but it is offseason for Iron District so be mindful if you need food with your alcohol! The drinks at Tiki Huna is reasonable and tasty, they can be exempt from this review. But I also want to say that people who worked here in their vendors doesn't seem to be happy or giving out friendly vibes. I think services is important. If you're not happy and you're complaining about your job, how does that make the customers feel about your food. Wouldn't come back with those vibes. Food is on par at some places and food that are actually good is just to expensive to enjoyed. They do changes out different food from time to time. Fun new place in NKC that was definitely worth the trip north of the river! As the weather gets better I'm sure this place will be get more and more popular. The concept is so fun, love the Tiki drinks at the bar. The sourdough BLT was the best thing I've ever eaten.

The food hall trend arrived with full force in KC over the past year and a half, but an outdoor food hall?!* That's what's up. (*Outdoor food hall is the best way I can describe this unique spot.) As it's a tad off the beaten path in North KC, you'll be able to find street parking within a reasonable distance here. I was surprised when I first walked up that it's a tad smaller than what I was expecting, but they do cram a lot of great spots into the space. Each spot is a shipping container, and there is an underriding environmental aspect to much of this area which is great. We went with Kind Food (separately reviewed) and it was great. Other food & drink options include a Sno.Buh (ice cream spot), a tiki bar Tiki Huna, Morning Day Cafe (a breakfast joint), Avobite (fast-casual avocado bar), Thaiger (Thai street food), Plantain District (Cuban), B-Rad's (comfort food), and Safe Bakes (allergy-friendly treats). There's a handful of retail shops as well. In Covid times especially, having all outdoor seating is a big plus. Unfortunately it was tough to find a table when we were there, but a little well-timed luck and persistence landed us a secluded table in the back of the space. Speaking of Covid, all the staff had masks, although a decent majority of patrons didn't. While we loved Kind Food, we tried to get ice cream at Sno.Buh but the staff was...occupied (i.e. looking at their phones) and there were only two flavors that weren't calling out to us. Overall, a really fun place to check out. We don't live particularly close so we won't be regulars, but it's a fun spot for us to occasionally visit and highly recommend exploring it! read more

We had a great first visit to the Iron District food hall in North Kansas City. Made from colorful shipping containers. What a clever idea to do this in an outdoor setting. Plenty of dining room and social distancing. Lots of yummy food choices, plus merchandise to boot. We started with Thaiger KC for its Thai menu. Everything is super fresh, made to order and can pack all the heat you want. We did two Thaiger Bowls, the Ribeye Steak and the Curry Chicken. Prices are super affordable, $17 and $11. Large quantity and great quality. Make sure to order the Mama's Egg Rolls. While we waited for our food, we checked out the rum cocktails at Tiki Huna. This is the only bar, but they have a great menu. We tried a bunch of drinks, including the classic Mai Tai, TI Punch and the Sunset At Sea. We'd recommend all of them. Even the non-rum cocktails, like the Moscow Mule are made with care and magic. The Iron Works is a place we'll bring out-of-towners to experience something unique to KC. We're going back for a second time tonight. It gets five stars in our book. read more
