They have a very clear process for design and construction. It does involve a lot of meetings, but everyone there is so nice to work with, we didn't mind. They were also great about scheduling meetings at the end of the day, so that we didn't have to miss work. Their architect found a great solution to the problem of adding on to our house without spending a huge amount of money. And, we worked with an interior designer on staff who helped us pick out fixtures and tiles. All very easy! Renewal's team is experienced with the 203K streamline loan, which we used to add onto our home. It would have been difficult to deal with a contractor who was new to this type of loan product. I will definitely post pictures of the finished job. The work will raise our property value, and make our house into our dream home!

The lady who answered the phone told me they would not give me a quote due to the fact that they only do work in the City of Decatur because of "traffic" . She said this after I gave her my zip code. I thought this was odd since I saw one of their yard signs in front of a home they are working on in Grant Park. Last time I checked, Grant Park is way outside of Decatur. West End is not as "gentrified" as Grant Park or Decatur but it is an awesome neighborhood with beautiful historic homes. I guess redlining zip codes is still a thing for some.

Katie undoubtedly has the talent to pull off dramatic transformations, but I appreciate that she is…read morealso able to make small, budget-friendly changes that have a big impact on the vibe of a space. I felt stuck when it came to updating my dark, tiny dining area, so I hired Katie to help. Katie's suggestions to repaint the walls in a cooler tone, switch the lightbulbs from yellow to daylight, and rotate the table for better flow made a huge difference in how the space feels and functions! I wanted to kick myself for not thinking of these subtleties on my own, but sometimes you just need a new perspective from someone with an eye for design. She also designed a board and batten wall for the room (inspired by the one I noticed in her own home) and put me in touch with a carpenter she trusts. My budget changed, and I decided to DIY the wall, extending the timeline by a couple of months. Katie answered all my questions and never expressed anything but patience and encouragement. With her guidance, my now-husband and I built the feature wall together. When he and I finally finished the project--and somehow still liked each other--Katie followed up by styling the room with items I already owned. My husband and I now have a beautiful dining room that we enjoy. Katie is so gracious and kind, and the whole project came in at around $500. The bright happy pics are the "after," and the sad beige pic is the "before."

From first to last we've had nothing but friendly, respectful and competent employees and contractors in our home. The plans they drew up solved all of the problems you can imagine existed in a kitchen that old. Tear done was done quickly and with little mess beyond the kitchen itself, even when removing the popcorn ceiling, and from then on everything went pretty much on schedule. We made a couple of changes along the way (the dreaded change orders), the color of the fridge and oven cabinets after they had been on order for awhile delayed their installation and then we decided on a different trim color for the windows and doors after the painter had finished :( Totally our choices and, we felt, worth the additional expense, but GH managed the schedule to get it all done on time anyhow. Several other suggestions we made, addition of 2 new outlets, moving the position of a cabinet and the size of another, etc., were accommodated with no fuss and no additional charge. Over time we've renovated our master bath, a half bath and a shared, Jack & Jill bath between two guest rooms. So, we've had some experience with the process and with various contractors. This renovation was, by far, the best experience we've ever had. Couldn't recommend them more highly. Almost wish we had something that needs work :)
