I was told to go here. I was also told I wouldn't be disappointed. And boy was I glad I came. This place has amazing food. I ordered the spicy chicken and it came with rice and beans. Some plantains and stewed cabbage. Everything tasted great. Everything was cooked properly. The staff was helpful and friendly. I can't wait to go back.

Oxtails

Great food, friendly staff I ordered the Oxtail box, they also have a Oxtail bowl. Great for date night to go. They only allow 4 people in at a time. Then you have to wait for someone to leave before you can come in. The food is already done like cafeteria style, choose the items you want and your done. I chose the oxtail box with curry veggies. The curry is very light in taste, you can't tell at all that it has curry but I wanted something different from the cabbage. The curry veggies consist of sweet potatoes, corn, onions, a little okra. And it is a $2 up charge. My last time I went the didn't give as many oxtails but now for $20 you get more oxtails.

Irie is the kind of place you would expect to find in a resort town, small, cool and taking a great cuisine and making it accessible; instead it is located on E.185 (with a new location by the Cleveland Zoo). Set up as a takeout place with a small counter and chairs to eat in. Decorated in bright colors with plenty of Jamaican charm it is eye catching and get you ready for the great food. The menu is set up around the usual Jamaican food, but it gives you the option to get the food in different ways including boxes, bowls, pasta and wraps. The majority of the food is prepared and ready to go on the steam table. I ordered the Jerk Shrimp Box which is one of the items cooked fresh to order. With the box you get the traditional sides of rice and beans, cabbage and plantains. Well worth the wait the shrimp came out hot and fresh with a really zippy spicy jerk sauce with peppers and corn over the large portion of the rice, sided with the tasty stewed cabbage and slightly sweet plantains, the portion was more then filling. The flavors are bold and bright with nice balance; no need to use the hot sauces there was plenty of heat in the jerk sauce. Irie does a great job with the food and I plan on going back to try some of the other menu items including the vegetable pastry. A great place to get excellent food, give them a try.

I was told this place was a must visit, so I did. It's located right on the corner and has plenty of parking in the back. They have nice glass windows so I was able to peek at the menu before going in. The staff was very friendly and helpful with me to decide what to order. The meat came three ways: spicy, mild, and no spice. So I got the no spice. It came on a bed of rice and side of plantains and cabbage. I also ordered a side of mango salsa and a chicken Jamaican patty. Everything was very good. He said the patty wasn't spicy but I think it had a tad of spicy to it. It was still good though. If you want to try something different, this is the place to go.

Three likkle birds combo!

Ambiance: This place is a little cramped with minimal standing room but for carry out it's great. They have a great online ordering system and they currently limit 4 customers inside which is nice. I like the wood paneling and Jamaican themed decorations although some of their lights hang down and block the menu, recessed lighting would easily remedy this. The staff were patient and friendly however which was impressive because the phone ringing off the hook with orders and they were doing online orders between customers during the lunch rush. Food: I would highly recommend the three likkle birds bowl which is beans and rice topped with their curry, jerk, and stewed chicken. It gives you a great showcase of their proteins and flavors which are very enjoyable. What I really appreciated was the excellent preparation of the food; nothing was mushy from being over-stewed or overly dry in the grilled jerk chicken's case. All the proteins were juicy and tender. You can even get extra sauce with the proteins which adds even more moisture and flavor which I would recommend. In terms of the flavors themselves, they are really good. The jerk chicken has a nice allspice flavor with an enjoyable habanero sweetness and only mild-moderate heat. The curry chicken is probably a crowd pleaser as it has a nice clean tumeric flavor and little if any heat for those that can't tolerate it. The stew chicken was probably the most generic in flavor so I found myself enjoying the other two much more. The mac n' oxtails was expensive at ~$15 and had less food compared to the $10 chicken bowl but my wife really liked it. The noodles were a little mushy but the cheese sauce was creamy smooth and the beefy oxtails were fall-off-the-bone tender. I did also get a side of plantains and some were definitely less ripe but others were heavenly and well worth the measly $2.5 they cost. I would say the food has a somewhat "home-cooked" quality. The flavors could've been slightly more intense and complex but there is a somewhat large-batch degradation in quality that's minor but noticeable. That said, this is NOT a sit-down Michelin-starred restaurant. It serves delicious food for a very reasonable price in a Chipotle-style format so set your expectations accordingly and enjoy yourself. I had this place bookmarked for a while and am super glad I finally got around to trying it out!

After hearing about this place from so many people I had to try it out. This past Saturday I finally did it. Their site displays a full menu and allows for online ordering. This is the route I chose. I was happy to see they have onsite parking as well as street parking available. Currently the staff is wearing masks and gloves and only allowing 4 people inside at a time. The floor has social distance markings as well. I ordered the jerk chicken family pack which came with Rice and Peas, Cabbage (that was touched by God), and plantains. Each aluminum container is housed in one large box which makes transport much easier. I also ordered a couple sides of Mac and Cheese and two sides of Oxtails. Everything was hot and ready when I arrived. There was so much food. My family of 4 had plenty leftover. Everything tasted great and fresh. This coming from someone who grew up on Jamaican food and cooks it themself. I will definitely order again.

Ahhh, this is the type of place I really want to spend my money at. Ire Jamaican is everything that you desire in a local, mom and pop ethnic eating establishment. These are the same owners that once had a place at the Richmond mall. No one believed that you can have friggin bomb Jamaican food in of all places, in the freaking world the Richmond efn mall. I was fairly pissed when they closed, but that's because it was in efn Richmond mall who's best years were a couple of decades ago. I'm so glad that they opened up and this seems like a really good location. Let's just start with this place is super clean. The owner Omar, makes you feel at home and you can tell he really wants you to have a great experience. His workers are super nice as well, that tells you that the help is treated well and they do not mind being there. From what I can surmise just about everything is made from scratch. They have a lot of standard Jamkn fair, including oxtail, chicken and shrimp curry, beef patties, cabbage, beans and rice. , veggies fresh juices and much much more. You can get a combination platter or chipotle it up with making your own bowl with a nice amount of fresh toppings. I even noticed a vegetarian option but obviously I did not pay much attention too. Being the jerk that I am, I went for jerk chicken, and this jerk chicken was really really jerk ass good. It had a decent level of spiciness with lots of flavor and a subtle smokiness. My side was the cabbage which was fantastic as well. Omar asked how everything was and made sure I was happy while I was scarfing down this bomb ass Jerk chicken. That is what it should be called, Bomb Ass Jerk Chicken. It's settled it will be referred to as Bomb Ass Jerk Chicken. Oh and for all you cheap asses out there, the portions are tremendous and price point is extremely reasonable, it a down and dirty steal if you ask me. If you are in the area, pick some up, even of it just for lunch the next day, you will not be disappointed. Oh and they have a small counter you can eat at if you do not feel like waiting.

Excellent jerk shrimp and the spice was hot and good. I would also recommend the mac & cheese, pineapple coleslaw, and corn bread muffins.

Sorry, the portions are small. But mostly, each dish tastes similar...and has a fast-food feel.

Pretty good Jamaican food near me in Lyndhurst! I am a fan of Jamaican food as a whole (Gar and Mar…read moreis the best sit-down place and Irie Jamaican is the best take out place in Cleveland). But I am no expert. I ordered a large portion of jerk chicken, rice and beans, and steamed cabbage. The large gives 3 chicken portions instead of 2. I am out of food at home since I am leaving to go out of the country for almost two weeks but still needed food for today and tomorrow so I got the large so I could have leftovers. The large was $17. My financial and calorie budgets didn't allow me to also get a patty but they did look delish! My to go order was ready for me 3 minutes after I ordered it so I left to eat half at home. My car started smelling a little like cigarettes with the food in the car, for some reason. As a non-smoker, I wasn't thrilled having that smell in my car for the 10 minute drive back home. Isn't take out food supposed to make your car smell enticing and wonderful? Well, hopefully the food tasted better than it smelled! And it did! I liked both the jerk chicken and the rice and beans better at Irie. The jerk chicken I had a month or so ago at Irie was life changing! This place puts way too much sauce on everything. And it was a little too spicy for me! However, the steamed cabbage better at Taste of Jamaica! The large portion did provide me with leftovers that I will eat for lunch tomorrow so I am happy for that! I enjoyed my food at Taste of Jamaica overall, but for a dollar or two more, I'll get my craving at Irie. But the food here is good though and made very quickly so don't be deterred if you intend on trying this place out!

The food was bold and authentic. My experience didn't quite live up to the anticipation. The atmosphere had promise. It had very nice African art on the walls that added to the unique accent of this small eatery. To be very honest, the place did not look extremely polished or clean. Service cold and really unlike typical Caribbean hospitality and vibes. That's also compared to local Afro-Caribbean spots. I came at the end of the day (around 8 PM) and was the only customer so maybe that explains this disappointing level of energy. My options at the end of the day were limited. Quick bites menu was available to build my own plate. The ingredients are not upfront within view so it's hard to tell what you'll get until it arrives. I ordered jerk chicken XL plate with all the possible toppings, and asked for a side of plantains (up-charge). The serving was generous but still a bit pricey for $20. I took my order to go. The dinner plate was too spicy for my liking. The plantains were extremely good, very authentically Caribbean tasting. I loved them. The overall experience just lacked that soul I was looking for. Mostly street parking is available in the area. The eatery is within walking distance of the Cleveland State University campus which is convenient for students and visitors. It's always tough to reflect on a less-than-great experience, especially when I want to root for places like this. I know that restaurants--especially smaller, community-driven ones--have off days. Maybe that's all this was. Still, I walked out bummed.
