My husband and I booked Irene's Bakery for our wedding, which took place a couple weeks ago at Ashton Gardens in Corinth. Irene and Danny are wonderful people and they make cakes that are as delicious as they are beautiful. I love to bake cakes myself, and my husband loves sweets, so we were pretty picky when it came to picking our baker. We had a couple disappointing sample boxes before we discovered Irene's. We got to try 9 cake flavors during our consultation and they were all outstanding. They were delicious, moist, not overly sweet, and clearly made from scratch. On top of that, their cakes are beautifully assembled and decorated. For our tiered cake, we requested a design from one of their Instagram posts with colors adjusted to match our wedding. For my husband's groom's cake, we asked for a giant Cosmic Brownie. They delivered exactly what we asked for, and everyone loved our cakes! We couldn't have asked for a better experience! We ordered a pistachio macaron, chocolate cupcake, and a carrot cake cupcake. Absolutely delicious. It wasn't too sweet, but sweet enough. Very moist . You can tell they are homemade. The gentleman that served us also owns the bakery. Very nice and informative. It's a cute little bakery in old town Lewisville. Lots of cute little shops. Really enjoyed my time here. I sent Irene a picture of what I wanted the cake design to be and it turned out even better than I could have imagined!! I bought a beautiful Birthday cake for my twin grandbabies who turned two. I found a photo of the cake and Irene's Bakery duplicated it, and even added some additional detail. I received excellent customer service from each person I talked to. Half of the payment was due when I placed the order and balance when the cake was picked up. I hate to say this, but the cake was one of the worst tasting cakes I've ever had. First of all it was hard to cut through the heavy dry layers. The cake was dense, flavorless and I was totally embarrassed. You know it's bad when two year olds won't eat it!! I just had to write an update. I ordered a 1st birthday cake from Irene and it was another wonderful experience. She created a beautiful cake with matching cupcakes, and even gave us a free smash cake so little Genevieve could dive in to her own personal cake. Due to a remodel and us having no refrigeration, I was going to need to pick up the cake at a time when the bakery was normally closed. I ordered a cake and she asked if I wanted to pay for it in advance or pick up. It was $120 for a simple birthday cake. Single layer sheet cake. Way overpriced but I'm all about supporting local. I paid in advance. Event got cancelled so I called 10 days in advance to cancel. Zero money back!! None! I would not have paid up front had I known she wouldn't have given me any of the money back. I had the strawberry cupcake the frosting was really good which is a major selling point for me but when I stuck my fork into that cake a poof of dust filled the room the cake was so dry. I was killing time and came in here to see what they had in the case. There were a few cupcakes on tap and also some cake balls which looked awfully scrumptious. It was kind of a cheat day so I said what the heck...and chose a key lime cake ball to enjoy with my lavender Americano coffee from next door. Heavenly! I would definitely come back and get more of these for a party or something. The cake was super moist too. PLEASE DON'T YOU DARE GO TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT FOR YOUR WEDDING CAKE. They're the worst. I gave them pictures of what I expected, but then I was told by Irene's husband, I've forgotten his name that he misinterpreted. He offered a $50 refund, which was laughable. If you decide on them, please make sure you pay by credit card because when they deliver your terrible, ugly cake you can dispute the charge later. Oh.. yeah, when the husband came to deliver the cakes he forgot the cake stand and told me I didn't pay for it, he had to go back & get the cake stand that I did pay for. As much as I wanted to like this bakery, we had a few unsolved problems with the owner. I ordered a cake for my sister's engagement party and everything was fine until I picked it up. My sister's name was spelled wrong even though my text message was clear. Ok--no problem. Irene fixed it but it was a little smeared. I specifically ordered white chocolate raspberry since the bride requested this. The guests were not happy at all so I decided to taste it. It tasted like old cinnamon... or something of the like. I couldn't even tell what it was! The fact that guests were commenting on the flavor is beyond embarrassing for hosts throwing a huge party. The following week my mom gave Irene a call but she wasn't very helpful. She asked why we didn't bring the cake back to her. Um...? Who would think to save the cake (after a night of partying) to take it back all the way to Lewisville from Plano? She wouldn't budge. So I nicely texted Irene to see if she was willing to refund even half of the amount. That was not an option. Writing a review would ruin her business apparently... However, businesses pick back up. An engagement party is a one time thing and we truly wanted it to be special for my sister. I researched so much when I wanted to choose a bakery. The flavor was 100% NOT right. It is SO embarrassing when a guest says, "Can I be honest? This tastes really bad." How unfortunate to spend so much on that cake. read more
