My only complaint is not about him, but the office, I think. Once I asked the office to give me a couple of appointments with him as I had a lot to cover. It turned out I had all of 15 minutes. I'm not sure if this is a problem with this office or with insurance, but I felt a little rushed. That aside, Dr. B. is one of my all time favorite docs.

He cares about his patients. He actually referred me to another doctor to attempt to do a non-invasive procedure instead. We knew that procedure had a 50/50 chance of working. When it didn't he worked with me to schedule my surgery as soon as possible. Oh and by the way 3 days prior to my scheduled surgery we found out I also needed a second surgery for something unrelated. He was able to meet with me right away and we decided together to both surgeries at the same time. He had the OR books for the additional time and arranged it with his second surgeon as well. When I had complications after surgery he was available 24/7 to help. Truly amazing surgeon! Thank you doctor! You likely saved my life! I should also mention that my surgery was very complicated and never been seen to that level before.

Basically the first time in my life I had lost anyone. She took her time and walked me through those horrible months like a best friend. She was amazing while maintaining her professionalism. She is retiring in a couple of months and I feel like I'm losing someone who I can call on when I need to. She will no longer. Be there. What a huge loss. I was told, however, by her staff, that since I hadn't been seen in the past 3 years, my file had been closed, and I'm no longer considered a patient, and that she's not accepting any new patients. I thought at least a letter before my file was cancelled would have been courteous. Yikes. Now looking for a new doctor, preferably one who doesn't need to cancel out their relatively healthy patients. Very sad.

I was asked on my first visit what meds I was taking while standing at the receptionist desk, and thought that was a bit odd - there wasn't anyone else in the waiting room, but had there been, I would have been uncomfortable with that. Very minor, but just saying, ya know...?! Elana, the medical assistant, rocks and is very personable! With the exception of Dr. Lieb and Dr. Niufar, good doctors in Antioch are hard to come by. Dave has been a patient of Dr Harpole for 10 years and has always expressed to me how rude the lady at the desk was but I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt. In the past Dave was diagnosed as Pre-diabetic and has both diabetes and heart disease in the family. Blood work was done two months ago and because of Daves work schedule and the Dr's shortened hours, he was just now able to schedule the bloodwork review. Going in, Dave had mentioned that he had seen a urologist regarding a prostate issue and was scheduled for a procedure to recify the problem. Dr Harpole discussed the prostate problem and then an audible "buzzer" went off signaling the end of the appointment! Dr Harpole not only rushed him out of the office but refused to even address the 2 month old blood work telling him he now needed to make yet another appointment to go over them!!! When he asked Sandra at the desk she refused to even give him any copies until Dr Harpole "released" them. The Dr did manage to litterally scribble on a piece of paper a couple of notes regarding the results and all we could make out was "borderline diabetic." Daves father passed due to complications from diabetes and Dr Harpole is well aware of this! I then made a call to Sandra asking what had happened and she told me she could not release anything without the Dr's approval even though that's what the appointment was scheduled for in the first place. The prostate issue was completely taken care of and under control. Here's the whole crux of the experience...Dave's urologist whom he had only met one time actually took the time to call me from HER HOME and spend 20 minutes talking to me to find out more about Dave because she's a doctor who CARES and is in practice for all the right reasons. I remember delivering UPS to Dr Harpole back in 1981 and thinking it's probably time to retire since there seems to be an obvious burn out issue here. I will also be contacting John Muir and the Medical board regarding his practice. Being in healthcare,I always like to recognize when you find an excellent doctor and spread the word to help others. I needed trigger point injections to my back area and I have had cortisone shots in other areas by other doctors and not all of them did a great job(some I felt burning as it went in). But Dr. Kujac is excellent at giving these(probably bc she does it so often) and I did not even feel the injection as sometimes I had in the past and once even flared up badly with another doctor and Idk what happened in that incident and I was in pain for three days! This one however, that Dr. Kujac did, I felt good for two days (although it came back but not as bad and had to get another injection). She also thinks of other things to check for and looks at the overall picture which I like and seems genuinely concerned. She is a good doctor and takes her time with you even though the office is so busy and she is running around with constant patients coming in. She does not give you the feeling, she has to rush to see the next patient as many doctors seem to be like even though she is very busy. So I am grateful to her and she gets an A++ in my book!
