I came to Rheumatology Associates to find out if I might possibly have RA since I was showing beginning symptoms and because my mom has RA. After meeting with Neena Matthews who was very kind, listened to my symptoms and carefully wrote everything down, Dr. Iqbal came in the room and started asking me the same questions. Then he turned to Neena and told her that I didn't have any signs of RA and most likely had osteoarthritis. I showed him my swollen and inflamed pinky fingers and asked him what this was, and he replied, "A joint." The rest of the appointment he was very rude and condescending and acted as if I was a hypochondriac. I had to insist that he test me and had to tell him about my mother's RA before he would consider running any tests. Needless to say, once the blood tests and images came back, it was clear that I am in the beginning stages of RA. The next meeting was slightly better at the beginning but declined from there. He was still rude and short with me when I asked questions and seemed annoyed when I asked him to repeat the supplements he wanted me to take. I have since changed rheumatologists and would highly recommend that if you are looking for a doctor, to steer clear of this one! read more
