These people are crooks. My father was renting an apartment with my mother in 2015. Both of their signatures were on the lease, and the rent was always paid on time. Unfortunately, he had passed away, and the 2 bed/2 bath was no longer affordable, so my mother was forced to relocate. A few months down the road, I received a phone call from them (emergency contact). She owed $3,100 to the apartment complex. Not only did they add several months rent, but also a fee for bailing on the lease. They kept the security deposit. She tried to work out some sort of a payment plan or settlement offer when she returned their call, but every person she spoke to refused. They wanted the entire amount upfront. There's no way in the world she could afford what was due at the time. I sent them a copy of my father's death certificate, and briefly explained the situation in a letter I had written to them. They didn't care. They sent my mother a copy of the lease with her signature on it, and demanded she pay it now or, otherwise, face penalty fees. This is exactly what they did. Here she is, two years later, and the amount went from $3,100 up to $3,900. It made a huge dent in her credit. It now looks as though she intentionally broke the lease when, in reality, she was being faced with a difficult situation at the time. She now has to wait until 2022 when it eventually comes off of her report. I feel bad for her. If she could pay them in monthly installments, then it wouldn't be a problem. The representative (Avery) was sooo rude and at first he acted as if they had a payment plan and asked me all about my income and how much money I had in my savings and how many credit cards I had. He said it was a "Hardship Application" so he needed the info so I could make payments. I was honest and told him I only had my rent money. He placed me on a brief hold and came back and He then said I didn't qualify for a payment plan and demanded I paid with my "Savings money" which I repeatedly told him its for my "rent". He put sooo much pressure on me. He then demanded I paid with my credit cards. He said they accepted multiple credit cards. I told him I had to call back because I needed to speak with my husband about a payment plan, and if I paid it in full it would have to be with my husbands credit card, he then demanded I put my husband on a 3 way call. The guy was a parasite!!! Completely rude and wouldn't take "no" or "not right now" for an answer, I had to hang up on him.. I disputed saying I should have received my deposit of $900 back! Then in December 2016---their collection agency IQ International Data Assurant puts a debt of $5883 with bogus charges for reletting(no broken lease, refusal to renew, lease ended). Further they charged me 3 additional months of rent!; a NEW tenant was in unit July 9th, 4 days after my lease ended. I spoke with several representatives today and my first experience started off good with Christian but he kept having technical issues so we were disconnected a few times. I kept my hopes up called back, a little context I found this on my credit report so I called them to gather information about total amount owed, where the debt was from,etc. The representative immediately told me i can take out a personal loan, use multiple credit cards, or borrow money from family, but still did not answer any of my questions. I asked again she provided me with the total and immediately went back into the same thing I asked what are my options is there a settle option? She said I would be more than happy to put this on several credit cards for you or help you apply for a personal loan. Once again I did not ask for this. I proceeded to thank her for her help and let her know that I would conference with my husband and call her back. I was immediately informed that i could conference him into the call we were currently in or I would no longer have the option of deleting from my credit. mind you I called to try and get it taken care of not vice versa. She continues to be rude and tell me how its too bad then, I asked to speak to the manager because I felt she was being unprofessional. 2 things happened 1) at the beginning of the call they give us the Manager name Barbara ext 1202 2) Manager on the phone not Barbara will not provide me their name The manager gets on the phone says this is operations how can i help you? I say i just wanted to speak to you because i was speaking with one of your representatives and they were being very unprofessional. immediate response: why? because she told you we don't have to let you delete, we don't owe you anything, you haven't paid any of this debt and if you needed to talk to your husband then why did you call us that's your fault you should have called him first. A week later I get a letter in the mail saying my account would be charged in the full amount. They corrected the amount subsequently but forgot to call IQD, who mailed me a statement listing the wrong amount and due date. Even after I paid, I received a call saying unless I paid I would be reported. In spite of confirming that I had paid and the due date and amount they had was wrong, the IQD guy refused to call the apartment folks to correct the info he had on file and threatened to report me. I paid a few weeks ago so I could be approved for an apartment $1272, I resubmitted my application & was denied for the second time. I was told there was another charge to my account. When I called back and spoke with my representative Daniel Alvarez ext 1349 he said there was a second charge from Renaissance from 2014 but due to statue of limitations he could not ask me for the money. He said he couldn't open the account and had to get help opening it to tell me more. After got the information, he said he could get the $800 plus charge to $610. I let him know I got paid on Friday and could pay then. I called this past Friday to see if he could split my payment like he did with the last one with the other person on the lease agreement, he did inform me that he couldn't & I was ok with that. I called back to double check what time they closed, I was told on the phone at 6. I called Friday between 5-5:30 over and over & received no answer. I left a voicemail. Today I was called back by Gisla, she was rude to me and told me that the offer I had was only a one time offer & I could no longer pay $610. I called back to speak with Daniel but he said because I spoke with someone else I would have to be transferred to that department. I talked with her & she couldn't give me any reason why I couldn't work with the nice man I had been working with all week. She was rude so I asked to speak with a manager. I was then transferred to Jeremy Frelicker Who stated they didn't need to tell me it was a one time offer. He was even more rude than the lady, refusing to allow me to speak with anyone else. He talked down on me for not paying the debt 6 yrs ago & let me know it wasn't his problem. I told him I had been working with someone else who knows the situation & was a lot nicer & willing to work with me on the payment. He told me if I called back I would be transferred right back to him and it didn't matter who else I wanted to talk to that I could not. I asked 3 times to be transferred to his manager & he said his manager wouldn't talk to me. He ended up hanging up. I called back one more time to get his name & the lady I spoke with. I asked for her last name & he said it didn't matter. I am trying to pay the debt but only have the $610 I was told I could pay. I was told by Daniel in previous calls that the account was closed because it was from a long time ago but I can see it's still on my credit report. I never had any issues renting before & I paid a lot of money to have the debt removed only to be told the next day that there was another charge. I did rent two apartments in the same complex but as Daniel told me, they had only spoken to the other leasee on the agreement and had never spoken to me. I cannot give them 5 stars because every single representative we spoke to concerning the payment needed was HORRIBLE barring ONE person. Rude and atrocious behavior. We were simply inquiring and they treated us horribly. However when we called to pay after gathering funds, we spoke with April, and she was cool, calm and collected and clearly and simply stated what was needed to clear up our situation. She was respectful, efficient and a delight to work with. She promptly sent us our agreement letter and then promptly sent the confirmation letter once we paid the account in full. Had we gotten anyone else, we would have settled but April explained it in a manner that helped us realize it was more beneficial for us to pay for a delete in full. She held up her end of the deal and made the process smooth and easy. If you're looking for someone to work with you, I recommend April and her extension is 1397. IQ should take notes on how she handles the matter and learn that you'll catch more flies with honey. With how she handles situations, I expect that would collect more accounts. I called to try and pay the amount and the "settlement" they offered was hardly a settlement at all and we couldn't afford it. April the woman I had the - not so pleasure of dealing with; was hostile, assuming, rude, aggressive and demeaning agent and completely unprofessional. I understand that this is not a "customer service" industry( that she was so obliged to remind me of) but if a company wants to get my money then approaching a client in a more humane way would serve IQData much better. I have had some of my own debt be sent to collections and I have been served extremely well by other collection agencies that when I hung up the phone with them I was smiling because of their "customer service" even though this isn't a customer service industry - April's reminder. If your company is trying to send items to collections I would not recommend IQDATA. After the way April spoke to me I do not see myself or my husband paying that collection off. So because of the way IQData employees speak to their customers the company that sold their collection will be the one suffering. Customer service is important to any industry, especially ones trying to take payments. read more

Well, I've got limited experience with debt collection agencies, but from my experience with IQ Data, I can say that their rep was pleasant, but firm on the phone. However, I can't say they're doing their job very well because they're trying to collect a debt that has already been paid. The fault lies both with IQ Data and the apartment complex, but IQ Data persists, even though I have concrete proof that the debt was paid from the original creditor. They should have backed off, but they continue to report the debt to credit agencies and waste boatloads of my time disputing it. If a debt collector is going to harass someone to this extent, I think they should, at least, acknowledge that the debt is valid or not. I guess this only gets settled in court. read more
