As a big ramen lover, when I heard Ippudo opened a shop in Paris that was just a few minutes away from my hotel, I absolutely had to try it! As a solo diner on a Tuesday evening, I only had to wait a few minutes. It's a small place and I expect if your group has more than 4 people, you'll have difficulty with seating.
To start, I had the spicy wontons. I had expected them to be the traditional Sichuan style but instead, they were like crab rangoon filled with shrimp. At first glance, I was disappointed, but they were indeed delicious! To settle the Parisian palette, you can dip 'em in mayo if you like.
I had the spicy yokohama ramen. Again I thought in traditional terms and expected a tantan men but instead it was the regular yokohama ramen with a side of hot sauce. In the end, I actually liked this as you can control the heat level. The noodles were amazing, and the chashu and egg were cooked exactly the right amount of time.
While the food is really good, it is slightly pricey. For example, 3 wontons cost €7 and their homemade hot sauce cost €2 for a little dipping bowl. read more
