So my friend Lester Gates is a co-owner of Invoke. I drove down to Dayton to check this place out. I've always known he was a great chef so i wanted to taste what all the fuss is about... Now I'm a meat eater folks... Bacon is made by the gods imo so eating at a place that's mostly vegetarian ehhhh but I tried it because I want to support my friend. Babeh!!! O....M....G!!! Tasty, memorable food by two great guys. The kale beet grain bowl with egg on top had an amazing vinaigrette with chunky onions in it. I liked the addition of chicken thighs to it as well. My mom had a hash with carrot sausage which she loved. The sauce was tasty without being hot. The guys working there were really friendly and kind. You can stop by if you need a compliment. I admit, I probably haven't had enough of these guy's food to give them a solid five star review. The Invoke guys had their food at an event my boyfriend and I were attending. I like to know what new food is happening in the area, so I had done my research and knew Lester and Larry Gates made food I can eat, so I was excited that they were there. They asked if we had any food allergies which I really appreciate. Not being able to have dairy does make eating cookies more challenging. But they had cookies! And they were fantastic! Crunchy but not in that cracker way. Buttery. My boyfriend, who loves butter and dairy, agreed that they were very good. The Invoke guys were really nice and personable. Funny. Easy to talk to. When they suggested we try roasted carrots in hotdog buns, I admitted I had qualms about them. They were not offended. And... it was good! I don't know how a roasted carrot in a hotdog bun with some sort of sauce can be good. It sounds ridiculous. But it's pretty good. My boyfriend agreed. I promised I would spread the word that this baffling food is not terrible. They told us that they used to do some sort of meal plan delivery. One of them is the muscle building sort, so understanding food kind of got to be important and then here they are. With a spot at Second Street Market to call their own. They are not vegan only, for meat eater out there. I believe they do some chicken and waffles with sweet potato waffles which sounds pretty great. Probably other stuff, too. They seem pretty clever. I had heard that 2nd Street Market had vegan options and finally came to see for myself. Pricey, but worth it to support local. I had the eggs bennie (with a fried egg instead of poach). A friend has the rocket bowl. Both were great and had good flavor. The rocket bowl comes in a plastic bowl that you can keep to reuse or bring back to be filled again. Kudos for recycling! read more

Okay, listen, the food by Invoke is FANTASTIC. I just had a salad like thing (hot) that included roasted eggplant, sweet potatoes and arugula with quinoa. I am NOT a vegetarian! I only chose this because I thought-- for once -- I should eat healthy. It was so delicious I will come back again to get it. read more

I've been to Invoke multiple different times and it never disappoints. I'm vegan and having v/gf options available at the 2nd Street market is so great. The bowls are always so good, lately I've been getting the Hashtag Hash and it's out of this world. The chilled corn salad is a seriously great side dish for lunch. And don't skip the desserts! The cookies and cheesecake are amazing. The guys that run it couldn't be any nicer. Definitely check it out! read more

Stopped by this new vendor in 2nd Street Market today and ordered the Grain Bowl. It was delicious! Everything is made fresh so there is a bit of a wait but it's well worth it. Plus the brother owners are super sweet and friendly. I sampled the vegan chocolate chip cookie (how does a vegan cookie taste so buttery?) and vegan cheesecake (incredibly decadent) while I waited. Oh, and the vegan carrot sausage, so creative and surprisingly tasty. I can't wait to try other things on the menu like chicken and waffles and red velvet pancakes. read more

stopped by and had the carrot lox...very very good but i would have loved more carrots, I don't know how they cooked the carrots, smoky taste very tasty. next time will ask for extra carrots, i wonder if they make a carrot dog still, would love to have that if the carrot taste like what i had today... read more

We hadn't been to the 2nd Street Market in a few years so we decided to take advantage of their newish Sunday hours and head there today. The last time I came, the vegan options were limited, but now that Invoke is here to serve yummy food to us all, I foresee more regular visits in the future. I had a delicious kale bowl without the egg and one of the best vegan chocolate chip cookies I've ever had. The bowl's smokey vinaigrette dressing was out of this world and I don't blame the other diner for wishing she could buy it by the gallon (me too). The brothers who own/run the place are as nice and personable as everyone says. Don't miss out! read more

I had the cucumber pork sammie, it was awesome! Fresh, filling, and delicious! They make the bread to order ( I think they call it non-non flat bread) and it completes the dish. My favorite eatery at 2nd St Market! They serve both vegans and meat eaters. I always get the Grain Bowl, but I've had the carrot hot dog, hash, krab cakes and all of their desserts - everything I've tried is absolutely delicious. I'm not vegan- but I do appreciate excellent food brimming with vegetables. I had the hashtag hash with an over-easy egg and the pumpkin 'cheez' cake. Seriously-- this is the best food I've had from a restaurant in a LONG time-- even high-end and farm-to-table type restaurants. Bursting with flavor and texture, both dishes were perfectly seasoned and SO delicious. I was also highly impressed with the gentlemen running the place- they were extremely friendly, and took the time to explain the entire process of creating their carrot 'sausage'. I was having a hard time deciding what to order when one of the young men cooking asked if he could make a suggestion. I told him yes, and he proceeded to make me the most delicious bowl of fresh vegetables, quinoa, and arugula. They asked my name and used it more than once. The attention to detail is impressive.
