TIP - Bring cash!…read more I've heard about Swap-O-Rama in the little town of Webster for quite a while now, and I finally had the chance to visit! They're only open on Mondays, which normally doesn't work with my schedule (lol). But with Memorial Day falling on a Monday, we finally made the trip. It is also their busiest day of the year. We arrived around 9:30 a.m., though I believe they open as early as 7 a.m. Even though we stayed until around 11:45, we probably only covered about 1/3 of the entire venue. The place is big! Swap-O-Rama features both indoor and outdoor spaces, with rows and rows of vendors selling everything imaginable. From antiques, tools, clothes, electronics, collectibles, handmade crafts, plants, and household items. They also have an entire aisle of produce and fruits. We left with a couple pounds of grapes for just $2 and a decent-sized watermelon for $3. Once we got home, my husband sliced it up, it was sweet and delicious. There's no shortage of food here. We saw vendors selling: Fresh coffee and lemonade, Kabobs, Kettle corn, Corn on the cob, Hot dogs, beer and more. Swap-O-Rama in Webster is a fun day trip worth making, especially on Memorial Day. I am already making plans to go back next year.

Due to the timing, not all the booth spaces were occupied. We spent about a half hour walking around checking out the folks that were there. There weren't many folks shopping. The vendors are on grass and dirt. You have to be a bit careful walking around as there are many dips and holes in the ground. There was one produce vendor. We got some lovely huge radishes from them for only $1. Most of the other vendors were clothing, tools and accessories, jewelry and a couple household items. One vendor had a mix of antiques, junk, and collectibles. I did find a gal selling some miscellaneous items on a side table -- just to get rid of them at 50 cents apiece. From her, I bought a lovely sheesham wood box that had been spray painted silver. I'll use this for an art project. I also got a pretty silver and black bracelet. So, two bargains for just a $1. They're only open certain days. So double check before you make the trip. I imagine in season -- and not after a holiday -- that there are more vendors, and it would be more worthwhile. I'm still glad we got to go. Always like checking out the different markets and thrifts.

Each individual booth prices out its wares. However, just because something is old. Doesn't mean it has value. It seems like the overall concept of the establishment is to get as many booths to pay rent as possible. The facility has a responsibility to make sure that its booths have quality goods at a respectable price point. We have been here three times and have not successfully been able to purchase. However, we typically always buy stuff every time we go out.

At first glance, one would think it would be a waste of time, as the strip mall it resides in seems run down and just a hair shy of being bull dozed and apartments put up in its place; however, we were pleasantly surprised. They did not greeted us upon entry, but the people behind us were, which is about the same thing, I guess. This place reminds me more of a flea market or swap meet, but does have a good number of antiques. The place is pretty big and they are currently looking to open a second side at the beginning of the year, so for those of you old timers, like myself, be sure to take your pain pills and arthritis cream, as it took us about 2 hours to walk through the one side that was open. Unfortunately, we did not find that had to have item, but did enjoy seeing a lot of items we had never seen before. The staff were very friendly and we even spoke with a couple vendors on the floor. I would definitely recommend you stop on by, as we will make this place a yearly stop for us.

The food vendors here offer some amazing good. Here you will find some of the best representations of Latin food. Whether it be tacos, pupusas or so many other types of food, it is not only represented here, but that representation is stellar. I would definitely recommend a visit here to try some of this stellar food.

While you are at it, there is tons of authentic Mexican delicacies such as aguas frescas, mangonadas, pupusas, tacos de birria, shops, jewelry, plant shops and more. I have tried several food spots in here but I have to say my new favorite is going to be Pollos Asados al Carbon. To start off, the owner treats you like family, jokes around with you, the music choice is mainly ranchera music, which makes me feel like I am back home in my hometown of Monterrey Mexico. The chicken is well cooked on the grill right in front of you. I swear I thought I was with my friends having a cook out with everyone just having a good time. They bring it to your table, the 1/2 chicken comes with rice and beans for 2 and salad, cebollita, chile asado, and they supply a homemade salsa that tastes so incredibly authentic. I am serious I was impressed about how good the food was. You will not regret this spot, it checked all my boxes.
