I cannot recommend Lauren and Tammy with Intuitive Birth more. As a first time mom, I was definitely nervous about the birthing process. I had a goal of an unmedicated vaginal birth, and I knew having a doula would support me in that process. Enter Lauren. Lauren was a wealth of knowledge leading up to our due date. She kept me sane as I started having prodominal about 3 weeks early and when I went a week past my due date (and the different options I had if it came to induction). The night I went into labor Lauren was responsive and supportive. She was a huge help to me and my husband during the labor process, and really gave us confidence to know when to leave for the hospital (I wanted to labor as long as I could from home). Lauren advocated for me and my birth plan at the hospital, and I ended up having the most amazing birth (6 hours from when my water broke, and only about 10 minutes of pushing.) We cannot recommend Lauren enough and would absolutely use her again for any future babies we are able to have. Lauren was actually the one who recommended Tammy to us for postpartum evening care. Tammy was a God send in the first 6 weeks of our baby's life. Her flexibility worked well with our schedule, and her wealth of knowledge truly set us up for success. Not to mention the extra zzz's we got. I would trust Tammy with my child 100x over. She is a baby and puppy whisperer and truly feels like part of your family. TL;DR, hire Rachel :) I delivered in December 2022 and had Rachel Strother as my doula. As I moved cross-country in my 3rd trimester, I first connected with and hired Rachel long distance. Even without meeting Rachel in person, I could feel her relaxed, nonjudgmental energy through the phone-energy that proved irreplaceable throughout my labor/delivery process and postpartum recovery. During my labor/birth, Rachel acted as a seamless extension of the hospital L&D team. Her calming energy was extra beneficial when my baby's heart rate was not recovering quickly enough after contractions. Rachel helped the L&D team flip me into different positions, which ultimately spared me from an emergency c-section. Though a potential c-section was scary, I felt mentally prepared due to previous conversations with Rachel where she explained the exact circumstance in which a baby's heart rate does better when the mom is flipped in different positions. Rachel was on top of her game for all of my labor-helping hospital staff, fielding my husband's questions, helping me think through doctor's recommendations, and making sure all my needs were met. At any point I could turn to Rachel and ask, "How should I think about this?", which helped me focus on my sole task of delivering the baby, took pressure off my husband, and saved my limited mental energy. I deviated from my birth preferences and got an epidural when my contractions became too intense. To be honest, I previously thought, "What's the point of hiring a doula if I get an epidural?!" but 10/10 would hire again, and would hire Rachel again! When Rachel wasn't coaching me through pain management, she was an invaluable part of my birth team-coaching me through pushing, expanding/explaining recommendations from hospital staff, and providing postpartum support. After a lot of googling and yelping, my husband and I decided to reach out to Intuitive Birth, as their philosophy and reputation aligned with just what we were looking for in a Doula. Merrie promptly helped us set up a meet and greet with Tammy, the doula available for our due date. We knew Tammy was the perfect fit for us right away. We hired Misty for our baby's birth and absolutely loved her during our meetings at home. Unfortunately, as with anything as unpredictable as childbirth, there was a tiny chance she wouldn't be available for us and this turned out to be the case when she had another mom in labor at the same time we needed her. She immediately connected me with her backup doula (Merrie), who was with us for the birth. Merrie was AMAZING. I can't even describe how pivotal she was in making the birth a positive experience. While we didn't have a very hardcore birth plan for our first child besides delivering in a hospital, it was important to us to hire a doula as our guide. We had heard really positive feedback from friends and since we quite literally didn't know what we were doing, we knew we wanted a birthing expert in the room with us who could be an advocate and partner to our hospital team. Our hospital (UCHealth Highlands Ranch) shared a list of doulas/doula groups they recommend, and we started our search there. After reading the testimonials and information for Intuitive Birth and feeling most drawn to their services, we were lucky to be connected to Tammy who still had availability. From our very first meeting with Tammy, we felt so connected and cared for. In our initial consultation, we were able to ask any questions we had about the process and her experience. We loved her evidence-based answers that you could tell came from her passion and previous experience in science, but we joked that she was just the right amount of "crunchy" that we needed too. Between that first consult, our prenatal visits, and the birth itself, Tammy was always accessible by phone or text for any concerns or questions we had, basically at all times of the day! There are some things that just can't be googled, and she was able to share more context based on her many years of experiences and births. Tammy was always so encouraging when the questions were less about logistics and more about emotions, helping us feel more prepared for what was coming next. When it was finally time to go to the hospital, she was there as soon as we needed us, and was the exact energy that we needed. When things weren't progressing and mama was just feeling pain and discouragement, Tammy was there to help with different positions, ask the right questions to determine what we needed, consult with our nurses, let dad run out to get food, etc. Even with a nearly 24-hour labor she was always there when we needed her, and has apparently mastered the art of the power nap since she NEVER appeared at less than 100% energy. When we were facing an unplanned C-section, she was the voice in the room encouraging us to make whichever decision we wanted, rather than feeling pressured into anything. During the process and once we held our sweet baby boy in our hands, we just kept mentioning to each other how glad we were to have Tammy in our corner. Our birth experience would not have been the same without her! Since the birth, we still feel such a connection to Tammy and she has kept in touch to make sure our entire family continues to feel supported! While we might have a few more years until another birth, there is no way we would do it without her and Intuitive Birth! read more

Merrie is absolutely exceptional. She is knowledgeable, experienced, an excellent communicator, comforting, encouraging, caring, and confident...and a mother of four. I was unsure of my desire or ABILITY to do a VBAC for the birth of my second. I'm almost certain that without Merrie's help/guidance this would not have been possible. With Merrie's help, I had an extremely quick birth, medication/epidural free. Due to such, my recovery was extremely quick as well. My son was born on November 8th after 31 hours of Active labor. Merrie and her assistant, Misty, were there for me the entire time! They were the A Team! From the moment my contractions were a few minutes apart to the moment my son was belly born, Merrie and Misty were our guiding light through my birthing journey. They arrived at my home just before midnight. I was in utter pain, barely able to think, but Merrie quickly went to work on me and got into her Doula mode. She began to massage me on my lower and side back, in and out of the tub, where they had found me. I could hear her reassuring words and feel her confidence and determination to comfort me, which gave me the sense of safety and strength I needed. I remember feeling a huge relief the moment she appeared as I sat in the dark humming aloud trying to control the pain. Seeing her, I was no longer afraid; I knew I could tap into Merrie's intuition for support. Merrie was able to help me navigate through the pain by keeping me focused on my meditation, applying relieving massage pressure points on exact areas, and by reassuring and comforting my husband and I whenever we were stressed. I didn't want to be at the hospital too early or to be turned away, so Merrie was the one who advised us when it was time to go to the hospital, which was perfect timing. At the hospital, Merrie conducted a series of massage techniques, and helped me complete specific whole body movements and careful slow exercises in order to help advance my labor and to help open my cervix. In fact, both Merrie and Misty hardly slept the entire two days at the hospital! They even refused to leave when I suggested they should go home for a break. They were absolutely dedicated and determined to stay for the whole experience. Merrie was my wise advisor who educated me on specific hospital terms and gave me ideas for possible options when we were approached by the medical staff about certain circumstances. And Merrie also acted as a strong advocate who respected my birth plan and kept my every wish in mind. And in doing so, Merrie pulled out all her tools and knowledge from her belt of experience to help me ease my pain and help transition my labor. In which her techniques absolutely helped reduce pain as well as I believe helped reposition my baby. Overall, unlike some of the nurses and midwives at the hospital, Merrie made me feel safe, understood, and comfortable. Finally, when it was time for me to throw-in-the-towel and give into surgery due to complications, as strongly advised by a Midwife, Misty was there to lovingly calm my nerves and keep me focused in the operation room. Misty even took amazing photos of the birth! Although my birthing journey ended with a cesarean due to complications, I am so grateful to have had Merrie with me! She gave me the confidence I needed to get through my tiresome, yet rewarding birthing experience. Merrie was the caring and supportive Good-Mother figure I so needed by my side. Merrie is absolutely incredible! She was instrumental in my successful, natural VBAC last month. Merrie is very experienced and has a wonderful, professional, strong, and calming presence. I'm private by nature and wasn't sure about a doula until my anxiety about the pandemic layered on top of my childbirth anxiety and I'm SO GLAD I found Merrie. I felt supported and respected in every way, and she adeptly balanced the many roles of a doula. The birth of our 2nd child was everything I had hoped for and just beautiful in every way. My first was a C-section and I had varying degrees of support from my OBs in my wish for a VBAC, so the support of a doula was critical. Merrie came to my house to labor at home (twice actually, the first time was still early labor, and I felt no judgment about that) and a mere 4 hours after going to the hospital my daughter was born without any medical intervention or epidural. This was our second experience with Intuitive Birth. Lauren was absolutely phenomenal! She encouraged me to listen to my body and discussed options with us in a way that made us feel informed and empowered. She was all in during labor, even rolling up her pants and getting in the tub to provide me with counter pressure. She encouraged my partner to be an active participant in helping me labor which was awesome. She knew exactly what to say during labor to encourage me to continue. My husband and I are so thankful to have had Misty with us during the birth of our first baby! I was on the fence about hiring a doula until the beginning of my third trimester when I realized that I wasn't comfortable with the very limited contact I was getting with my OB. I wanted someone who knew my birth preferences, could advocate for me and would help me (hopefully) achieve an unmedicated, low-intervention birth. Misty was a huge support in the months leading up to labor, providing me with all the resources I needed regarding lactation consultants, pelvic floor therapists, placenta encapsulation, labor education, postpartum prep/care and so much more. Most importantly, she guided me through exercises, stretches, nutrition and what I could do to prepare my body for labor so the baby was in an optimal position and my pelvic floor was prepared for what it had to do. My actual labor was so fast and furious, that I was basically ready to push by the time I arrived at the hospital. Misty's steady and soothing presence was exactly what I had hoped for during a long bout of pushing. She was there to encourage different positions to help the baby turn and remind me of the breathwork we had practiced, which I couldn't have done on my own as I was too overcome in the moment. The aromatherapy and massage techniques she used helped me relax between pushes. Once baby arrived, Misty was right there to help him latch and start breastfeeding immediately. I truly believe that all the prep work she guided me through in the months leading up were part of the reason labor happened so quickly and I was able to achieve the low intervention birth that I wanted. I am so grateful to have had her with us during this crazy journey. Because my labor was so quick and intense, it felt like being hit by a truck, and I don't think I was totally mentally prepared for what was happening. But I was so reassured by Misty's knowledge and presence that I felt comfortable just handing the reins over to her, my husband and the labor nurses and letting them tell me what to do. And Misty has continued to support me postpartum with breastfeeding advice, tips and building a network of other new moms!
