Hello! I decided to add acupuncture to my IVF treatments and worked with Kim and Judith. They are both amazing and wonderful humans! I am so grateful for the care and compassion they showed me. It was my first experience with acupuncture and its certainly not what they depict on TV (wink wink). My initial meeting was a consultation where they took a history and we just chatted. Last spring I started having lower back pain that continued for about four months. I was exercising, stretching, practicing yoga, eating well, using a heating pad during the day, soaking in warm baths at night, and even going to get massages periodically. These things only relieved the pain short-term. A friend of mine recommended acupuncture, and I finally caved in a tried it. I hate to sound hyperbolic about my experience, but my back pain was essentially eliminated after one session with Judith. I knew very little about acupuncture (and was admittedly skeptical), but she explained everything as she went along. She showed me the needles and talked me through the steps. I was a little nervous that it might be too "spiritual" for me, but her approach was very down-to-earth, relaxing. After my second appointment, I found out that I was pregnant with twins, so despite having no more back pain I continued to go in for "maintenance," just to keep everything balanced and feeling good. (BTW I checked with my midwife who said acupuncture was A-OK during pregnancy.) This summer I delivered two healthy 8-pound babies at 40 weeks... I NEVER experienced back pain throughout my entire pregnancy. In fact, I had a very pleasant & fun pregnancy. Bottom line: I now recommend acupuncture to all of my friends, pregnant, stressed out, moody or otherwise. Tip: If the needles freak you out, no fear. They don't hurt, and they really don't use that many. Judith talked me through the entire process and told me when she was inserting each needle. No surprises. read more

For years, I've suffered from severe seasonal allergies. Actually, I'm not sure severe is a strong enough term, but I don't want to be overly graphic in a family blog. Enough to say that it had been years since I'd been able to enjoy spring or fall. As my wife will tell you, I always called them the killing seasons. She even had to take me to the emergency room a time or two when my symptoms got so bad that I literally couldn't breathe. I once joked with my pal Bill Shaouy that I could never be the Braves stadium announcer, because I'd always start the season on the disabled list. Frankly, they made my life utterly miserable for at least four months of the year. Needless to say, I tried just about every remedy available, both prescription and over the counter. I literally exhausted every option my doctor had to offer. Nothing worked. Nothing. Finally, one of my wife's friends (thank you, Mary Frances Jones!) told me that she used to have the same problem. Now, she swears by ... acupuncture. Seriously. Acupuncture. I was desperate enough to try anything, despite my general distaste for anything involving needles. I made an appointment with Laura Greiner at Intown Acupuncture, located just a mile and a half or so from my home. First, I have say that the experience met none of my preconceived expectations. The practitioners were not male or Asian, they didn't wear long red silken robes decorated with Chinese symbols and characters, and they didn't have those little pointy gray beards. The needles were not long and gold, nor were they tapped in with a little hammer. Apparently, Hollywood has misguided me. Laura Greiner is professional, kind, and skilled, and happy to educate. As near as I can tell, the other practitioners there are as well. The needles are small, and barely break the skin. But ... it works. Now, I'd been warned that I wouldn't see results after the first or second treatment. It would take three or four. That turned out to be true. Since that fourth treatment, I haven't needed allergy medication. Seriously. Not a single tablet or Albuterol shot. I still have a symptom or two, but not enough to make me lose my voice, hack up a lung, or (best of all) miss a wink of sleep. I doubt I would have exhausted even one of those little pocket packages of tissue. On a scale of 1 to 10, with one being no result at all and 10 being stones to bread, Red Sea parting, and pillars of fire in the desert, I'd put it at around an 8. Given that my insurance covers it, I might even push it up to a 9. I now go eight times a year for "refresher" treatments--four times in the spring and four in the fall. It's good for more than allergies, though. I have friends who swear by it for everything from fertility to back pain. I can attest to the energy/mood boost and the overall feeling of well-being. Not too long ago, my dad suffered what appeared to be a very minor stroke. Since then, he's suffered occasional fainting spells, difficulty walking or getting in and out of chairs, and a host of other, similar symptoms. After batteries of test from a small army of specialists, he wasn't closer to learning what was wrong ... or how to treat it. So I made him an appointment with Laura Greiner, and (another "9 miracle) managed to talk him into going. Unlike me, his results were immediate and dramatic. He's been twice now (two consecutive Fridays) and is planning to go at least twice more. If he continues to improve as much as he did after the first two treatments, they may have to lock the doors to keep him away. To be honest, I have no idea how or why acupuncture works, and I certainly don't advocate it as a substitute for traditional medicine. I don't know anyone who does. But if you have lingering issues that more familiar remedies haven't soothed, give them a call. Or get a recommendation for a licensed acupuncturist near you (I wouldn't go to one without a recommendation -- any more than I would choose a doctor without a recommendation) and ask. Who knows? My experience with Kimberly at Intown Acupuncture was my first experience with acupuncture. I came to Kimberly seeking fertility support and have continued to see her throughout my first pregnancy. I have felt nothing but comforted and supported by Kimberly throughout the ups and downs of trying to get pregnant and so far throughout my pregnancy. She is extremely knowledgeable, understanding and enlightening. After my sessions I feel so much more centered and energetic and ready to deal with whatever comes my way. So far my pregnancy has been pretty easy going (probably in part to supportive acupuncture) though I've able to get treatments that helped with a chronic headache and some nausea. I went to see Jim Gordon at Intown Acupuncture for my lower back pain. Jim has personal experience in this area, so that put me at ease immediately. He treated me for the acute pain, which helped in the short term, but he was also able to give me some exercises to help keep me out of pain over the long haul. Jim has been practicing Qigong for over 30 years and he combines this with acupuncture to help people overcome their pain issues and/or low energy. In my case it was both! In early 2019, I made a decision to revisit acupuncture treatment as a viable option to my having extreme spinal surgery for a very debilitating, painful/ inherited spinal condition I sadly have. My choice of seeking help from Faith Russler has proved life changing for me. I had past favorable experience years ago in Asia and America with acupuncturists for both myself and my elderly parents, but not on the high level of Faith's skilled diagnosis, gifted intuition and application. Her knowledge of Eastern medicine is boundless as is her gentle intensity as an empathetic and patient healer. Faith Faith Faith. I've had accupuncture at a few other places over the years but this is a whole different experience. I'd been trying to go with the most 'reasonably priced' in the past. This is clearly a situation where the 'get what u pay for' holds. Faith knows about things even beyond accupuncture, i'd consider her a holistic healer. I've been 4x so far and she has certainly changed me. I have less anxiety, which wasn't the reason for even going (so i thought)... feel much more grounded... hot flashes GONE.. and one other issue i can't disclose is healing. Check her out!! read more

It's been a while since I've been and i'm ashamed of myself for not writing a review earlier but THIS PLACE IS AWWWWESOME!!! Back and carpal tunnel pain are completely gone after only a few initial treatments over a year ago. I suspect that they keep the needles soaking in rum, vodka or some other hard liquor but I have no evidence to substantiate that claim mainly because the few times I went I dozed off almost immediatly. I saw James at Intown Acupuncture to get the Chinese medicine technique for turning a breech baby. I was about 33 weeks at the time with additional medical complications, the combination of which could have resulted in a traumatic delivery. James did the "moxibustion" technique once and sent me home with the necessary supplies to do it myself daily. I saw him on a Saturday morning and the baby was turned by the following Friday. As a result I was able to have an uneventful birthing experience. Couldn't be more pleased! read more

If you are interested in acupuncture but you have never been before or you don't know much about it, it's ok. I didn't know anything about it until I called to make an appointment with Faith at Intown Acupuncture. My friend had recommended I go to see an acupuncturist to help me with my mind-body connection. I started going in May 08, and I am still going! I love it! First, it was so easy to make the appointment, and I felt welcomed immediately when I arrived at the office. My first session was about an hour and a half and I was comforted by Faith who walked me through the process of what she was doing. I began seeing Judith at Intown Acupuncture this summer to help with fertility. My husband and I had been trying to get pregnant for just under a year, and I wanted to try something natural before going the medical route. My first appointment with Judith was extremely thorough, she asked me every question I could have imagined about my history. It was my first acupuncture experience so I was extremely nervous, but I slept like a baby through the entire treatment. It was so relaxing. I've been seeing Judith Kenen for acupuncture at Intown Acupuncture in Oakhurst, Decatur Georgia every couple weeks for nearly three years and cannot say enough about the positive impacts it has had on both my physical and emotional health. I would recommend her to anyone seeking alternative therapy for just about any issue. I started seeing Judith in 2014 about six months after my first son was born for some hormonal issues that I was experiencing after stopping breast feeding. I was also having a lot of issues with sinusitis and asthma due to illness. I've had asthma all my life and frequently had to go on courses of prednisone, which took a serious toll on me mentally and physically. I'm proud to say that since working with Judith, I haven't had a need to see my asthma doctor or go on prednisone at all. She has an uncanny ability to relate to what is going on with you and get to the root of the issue. She has used a number of different types of treatments with me, all of which have been effective, whether it was for my asthma, sinusitis, headaches, hormonal imbalances, back pain, you name it. For example, I remember a time when I was really pretty sick and congested in my chest. After a treatment with her, I almost immediately turned the corner with that particular illness and healed with nothing more than acupuncture and some Chinese herbs. There are so many instances of something like that over the last three years, I can't mention them all. I also had issues getting pregnant the second time. Judith helped me work through the emotional issues surrounding that and treated me for fertility. I gave birth to another healthy baby boy about six months ago. She treated me through the pregnancy for various pregnancy related aches and pains and was also instrumental in referring other professionals to help me in other areas.
