Recent dealings with Interstate Battery Center of Rutland Vermont
Spoke with Bill 3 or 4 times concerning an Interstate battery I purchased and had installed by a marina which stocks Interstate batteries supplied by Interstate Battery Center in Rutland, VT. This battery was installed in Aug 2017, used one month then removed from my Seadoo jet ski and placed on a battery maintainer for the winter. Springtime rolls around and I pop the battery in and attempt to start the jet ski, nothing happens. I return the battery to the marina in NY where I bought it to be checked out. More than a month goes by with at least 3-4 phone calls to the marina to find out the status of my battery. I'm informed the Interstate Battery Center driver will have to check it out, I'm informed the driver forgot to pick it up, I'm informed that the battery is very low on acid, I'm not happy. This is a new battery. I now start calling Interstate Battery Center in Rutland to find out if they can compensate or prorate for this dead battery which they supplied. I'm informed that the battery is out of warranty, only good for six months. I'm not informed of this warranty at purchase. I'm informed that I purchased the battery dry and I installed the battery myself. I don't know enough about batteries to even think about ordering a dry battery. I also was having other work done on the jet ski at the marina and was informed I need a new battery. I agreed to the purchase and installation of this Interstate Battery. And yes I have my receipt. Now I get a call from Tim from Interstate Battery Center in Rutland VT stating that I spoke rudely to their counterperson Bill and to the marina person. He also says I purchased the battery dry and installed it myself and for those reasons Interstate Battery Center of Rutland VT will not compensate me. I respectfully disagreed with Tim on the purchase and installation portion. I also told Tim that I didn't remember speaking rudely to anyone and that there must be a communication error on his end.
So what do I do now? This is what I did after sitting on it for a few days. I called the marina spoke with the same guy I had dealt with 3-4 times to apologize to him if I spoke rudely. He said he doesn't remember me speaking in such a manner. I then call Interstate Battery Center of Rutland VT to apologize to Bill if I spoke rudely to him. Bill was with another customer and I was put on hold. Bill did not speak with me when taken off hold so I said that I wanted to apologize and was told the message would be passed on.
Hey Bill I hope the message was forwarded. My final thoughts on this ordeal are never use or buy a battery from Interstate Battery Center in Rutland, VT. Poor business model, poor service, poor communication skills. read more
