That's not just a deal--it's practically an act of public service. I went simple with a German Dog (mustard & sauerkraut), but trust me, there's a mad scientist in the back making sure every option is perfectly weird and wonderful. The buns are soft, the dogs have that perfect snap, and the toppings are generous without being a sloppy mess. The whole experience feels like you've stepped into a local legend that no one outside Jackson seems to know about--but they should. The staff is no-nonsense but friendly, the drive-thru has a personality of its own (seriously, read the posted notes), and you'll leave full, happy, and slightly confused about how you just ate gourmet hot dogs for pocket change. Wasn't overly thrilled with the hotdogs. The Mac and cheese dog was fine, but not amazing. Also had the Mexican dog. I was hoping for more of a hot sauce, but instead it was more of a mole sauce with corn in it. I hear that many people really like this place, but I don't think it is for me. The inside is really small but you can eat in there without much of an issue. The large percentage of their business that day was definitely from the drive through pick up window. I used to frequent the dog house frequently as a kid when I lived in Jackson. I was fortunate to be home for a wedding and decided to come back and relive some fond childhood memories. First off, this place is completely different from when I was there nearly 20 years ago! Brand new digs but still a small place to grab a quick, inexpensive dog. When I was a kid I'd always order a cheese dog and chocolate milk haha! A smidge-more sophisticated in my palette these days I decided to go with a standard dog with onions and mustard. For a little more than 2 bucks the food didn't disappoint! Their fries though are AMAZING! Probably my favorite part of the meal! Crispy, hot, right out the frier! There are so many awesome options here. My fave is the Italian Dog, with hotdog, spaghetti sauce, green olives & mozzerella cheese on top. They can make Mac-a-weanies, chicago, NY & so many delicious dogs. I do wish they would offer veggie dogs so my vegetarian husband could enjoy the Dog House with me. The staff is personable. I've been coming here for close to 40 years and they have always had just plain good hot dogs. Actually not so plain, because they come in about 10-12 varieties. I have a serious addiction to their Swiss dog, and almost always order it with a Mexican, although I love the Italian and the SOB. The Swiss has a great sour cream and onion based topping covered with melted Swiss cheese and a pickle. Dave, the owner and founder, once told me that they only use top notch ingredients. They still do! Great buns, toppings and dogs. (Sorry, no snap, but firm and tasty) Not much seating, but the prompt drivethrough is a bonus for a mom and pop place. We occasionally eat in. My wife loves the fries, but I'd rather fill up on the dogs. I could do without the religious stuff, but it's a small price to pay for great dogs. read more

The dogs offer quite the variety as well as the pound of fries hit the spot with vinegar and ketchup. The only thing that takes my review down is the fact that the food starts to get pricey if you order more than one hot dog a piece. They are hot dogs after all and the ingredients that go on top shouldn't make them over 2 bucks. You can get a hole package of brats and buns for cheaper than three hot dogs here, plus a whole bag of fries is cheaper than the pound here. Great value for what you get - a whole POUND of fries are just $3.50. I tried the SOB (South Of the Border) Dog tonight and it was the bomb. If you like local, unique non-showy places, this is a great choice.
