I've used The Best Shades twice over the years. Both times, they were excellent. The first time was to install nearly 9ft wide shade across 3 panels of continuous windows. Other shade companies told me I had to break it apart into two parts because of the way shades are manufactured but Marat thought of an idea to select fabrics that look good horizontally and vertically so that the wide shade can be made horizontally. Great idea and great execution. The second job was to replace all the rest of the shades in our apartment. I didn't think twice to call Marat again. The original production took the expected amount of time, but during the first installation appointment, they discovered they had the wrong size for one of them. They had come to my apartment to take all their measurements, so I don't understand how this happened. Back to production went the blinds. Weeks later, when the second installation appointment arrived, they realized they were missing some of the necessary pieces. During the third appointment, they finally resolved everything. Throughout this process, appointments were repeatedly rescheduled due to their poor planning, and in total, I had to take off six afternoons from work, although this should have been completed in two. The payment was 75% upfront, with the final 25% due upon completion. After the second failed installation, I asked about discounts or make-goods. They said they would discuss it with management, and at my final appointment, the installer wanted me to pay the remaining balance on the spot. I mentioned my conversations with management, and they called them on speakerphone there. They said they rejected the request for a discount, but after I asked them to reconsider, they deducted $79 from the total of $1917 for the service. For the unnecessary hours lost and their consistent errors, this discount feels insulting. I would not recommend this company to anyone. It has been a headache.

His second purpose was for me to take down my review of his company. My original review was honest, factual and without any emotional comments or name calling. It left the reader to make their own decision about NY City Blinds. I felt it was a fair, though poor review. The evening of Guy's call he did refund our full cost. I had agreed to leave the shade with my doorman for him to have picked up, once replacements were installed. So, my reponse to Guy's request to take down my negative review is this replacement review: The NY City Blinds two employees that worked with me - Laor, who measured my window and the installer (sorry, I forgot your name) were both polite and actually enjoyable to work with. Guy, the owner was polite, professional and did go out of his way to make me a happy customer. This is New York City and it comes with a host of confounding problems. Manhattan alone is larger than almost every other city in the country! It's crowded. People generally are extremely demanding. There are dozens of choices for EVERYTHNG within blocks of your apartment (home). There is an extremely high expectation for quality. Price, surprisingly given the general wealth of New Yorkers, remains a strong selling point. New Yorkers want the very best products and the very lowest price! It's a tough place to make a business work. It's a tough place to live. Everybody that has a business in New York "is the best" so it's hard to evaluate and select a business that will provide a good service and product and charge a reasonable price. NY City Blinds changed my feelings about their people (except Customer Service - Guy take note!). Guy did try hard to make me a happy customer. I will give his a lot of credit for this. The best I can do is give them two stars for the installation. Guy gets 4 stars. He went beyond what I expect. I do expect Customer Service to improve. The negative review is down. This guys are highly skilled and professional. No pressure, no sweet talking like at other places we went before. Everything happened pretty fast since their catalogs covered everything we needed to see. Always wanted to do some changes in the house and decided to start with window treatment. We ordered very delicate sash curtain to filter light and from much heavier fabric over-decorative drapery and drapery drop. One of the important part was a swags. I didn't want them to be too long to cover some beauty of drapes, but at the sane time I didn't want them to be trimmed too short to look like a taylor safe on my fabric. Next part was a hardware, which they had tones of differed variety, to match the rod to the style of the drapery, to the type of windows and the general décor of the room. Tiebacks was the other important thing for presentation, since we don't have high ceilings and heavy tiebacks will attract entire attention from the drapes and make them look shorter then they actually are. After the order was placed few weeks later the installers arrived. They were very professional and completed the installation pretty quick. It look beautiful just like in the catalog! Elegant but reach looking drapes show off each and every unique detail of ordered design. Absolutely recommend them to family and friends.

A local business said they only worked on Hunter Douglas products and might not be able to get the right parts. Then... cue drum roll... Ziegler said they would pick up the broken blind and return it the next day. Turns out, they did even better. Sean came in the specified time window - hallelujah! - after calling to say exactly when he'd arrive - double hallelujah! - and happened to have the right part with him. He had the blind fixed and working within minutes. Pricing was reasonable, and obviously the service couldn't be beat. 1000000% recommended.
